This is probably a futile effort but I was wondering if there was a way to remove unwanted icons off of my tour. I saw a post from last year in regards to the storm and the advise was to just hide them because it can't be done. I'm hoping that as time has passed and technology has advanced that maybe a solution has been developed to resolve this issue.

I plan on giving away my 9630 Tour because I got a new phone, so I was wondering, do I need to remove the SIM card from the device? I've never used the Tour out of the country and my phone line is already on my new phone. I've already wiped it clean and reinstalled a fresh OS 5.0.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHope I'm not asking something that's already been answered, but I searched all the forums and couldn't find anything. I was out-of-state recently and found two unknown icons on my phone while I was gone. I thought maybe one of them indicated roaming, but that's just a guess and I don't know what the other is at all. Across the top of the screen, in order, are
a) the usual number of messages beside the envelope, which I recognize;
b) a number 1 beside a white circle that looks as if there's a white arrow penetrating it from the top right with a red something-or-other (can't really tell, it's so small); and
c) another number 1 beside something that looks a little like the video camera icon (circle, line, circle -- connected at the bottom -- o_o sort of). I've no idea what the latter two are, so I don't know how to get rid of them.
I upgraded from a BB 8830 and I was able to change the icons (not the order) colorful icons. I have tried to do the same on the Tour, to no avail. The current icons are outlines of pictures the clock, the world, wrench, etc. The are the default stock icons and I can't find the colorful actual pictures of the icons. Also, I have not been able to download certain applications such as FB, GMAIL and the Weather Channel. I have tried every which way, but seem to be missing an important step. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

I have 2 indicators showing telling me that I have an unopened email (closed envelope) and a download pending. I have gone through all my emails and downloads and nothing is pending....can't delete the notification symbols.Battery pull did.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Tour used. I havent activated it yet but through my laptop I installed all my info (contacts etc..) through the desktop manager. The service provider is Sprint. I have noticed that there are some apps/icons missing from the menu. Most importantly there is no web/internet icon/app and no BlackBerry app world icon/app. There are also others missing, Pandora, Sprint Nav, Sprint TV and a few others. These I am pretty sure I can download for free, but what about the web and app world? Why are they missing? Is it because the phone is not activated yet?

I have to resend the service books inorder to get the logos to appear in the bottom of the email icon. Anyone else have this annoying issue?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to the Tour from the 8830 at work. My IT dept transfered all my information and there is a gmail email account icon, but the account doesn't work. I set it up again in the Email Setup section, but its not working. I removed what I did and the gmail icon is still there, but doesn't work. Can anyone help? My IT dept rep is an absolute ***** and has done nothing to help me with this problem besides telling me "well, I guess you just can't use Gmail on this phone", which is absurd since I could use it on the old one, so I know BB supports it.

View 14 Replies View RelatedThis is an unusual situation. I have this ringtone that is a song about a cartoon character. Some kids texted it to me and I saved it in my ringtones folder. Later I tried to text it to a couple family members. On one of the attempts, it didn't attach because I hit the wrong selection (not sure what).Anyway, ever since, the song comes on constantly and plays all the way through. For example, if I receive a text, the normal text alert sound goes off. But afterwards, the song starts to play and I can't stop it until it has played through. If I receive an instant message from someone on Blackberry Messenger, the normal message alert sound goes off, but afterwards the song starts and again plays all the way through.If I make a call, after I hang up the song goes off and plays all the way through. If I send an email, as soon as I hit send button, the song goes off and plays all the way through. Nothing I have tried seems to work.I have checked all my ringtone and contact settings. I have deleted the ringtone/song from my ringtone file and deleted the few messages and emails on phone where I forwarded it to myself or a family member. Putting the phone on silent doesn't seem to work. Once the song starts, I cannot stop it until it plays all 30 seconds. Anyway, I still have the same problem and the song will not quit playing. So, I think you can see my dilemma. Anyone have suggestions on how to fix this problem? I thought maybe it had a virus, but no one that I know who has the ringtone has the same problem as me. I did recently install a new update/upgrade of the Blackberry operating system. Do you think it is a problem with the update?
View 22 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with my BB Tour.When I woke up this mourning and took my bb off the charger.I notice there were HLhlhlhlhlhlhlhlhhlhl type on my bb so I tried to press the esc button and the end button and it didn't work. So I did a Battery pull and let it load up...and that when i found out that my trackball wasn't working.then all a sudden it started to type the HLlhlhlhlhlhlhhlhlh again.So I did a another battery pull and it did it again.So I wiped the phone decided to install 5.0 on my phone and I get the same thing.The only thing I did before my phone went hay wire was a couple days prior.I downloaded a couple free themes and screen saver from BB App World.I thought by doing the battery pull and wipe I would fix it but didn't. I know I didn't get my phone wet or anything can anybody explain this?
View 13 Replies View RelatedThis is my third Tour (I just got this one a week ago) and with it sitting in my pocket where I have service, not running ANY applications, it is running hot and draining battery very quickly. Did a battery pull, double checked memory leaks, and nothing is taking care of it. It's draining at about 15% per hour. Any thoughts (other than Tours suck.)

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just updated the software on my Blackberry Tour and now my calendar is behaving as it did two software generics ago! Specifically, when I change and appointment to a future date and then save that appointment, the calendar moves to that future date! This is terrible if you are moving several items out to future dates! Previously, the changed entry would just disappear from the screen (moved to the new, future date) and I would remain on the day I was working on.Secondly, when I open a future day in calendar, the “All Day Events” do not show first (as they used to). Instead you have to scroll up to see if there are any of these type events.Does anyone know of a way to change these settings/defaults.

However, I cannot get my tour device to show up in windows explorer. It connects and I can browse my media card. There is no drive in windows explorer for the device itself. I can connect to desktop manager and back-up my device memory so I know the computer can read my blackberry device. I upgraded the os with no problems.
I am running vista home premium with blackberry os 5.0 from sprint. I am on verizon. I do have mass storage mode enabled and all of those memory settings set to yes (auto connect, etc.). BBSAK and Blackberry Master Control Program see the device as well. I do not use roxio media manager and it is not installed with my desktop manager. It was too slow and clunky when I had my storm so I never bothered with it.
After I installed the new operating system I lost a feature. Both my husband and I have the Tour. For example, if you highlight the Games folder and press the Blackberry options, one Tour can choose "edit folder" and pick a new Icon. The other Tour mine is missing that choice. Any fix? If I create my own folder, I have the feature, but not for my Games, Applications and other folder that were there in the old OS.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI dropped my Tour and scratched up the bezel, and made the dumb decision to replace it. Long story short, I messed up switching over the buttons, and I stripped the screw putting it back in, so there's no going back to fix it. Now, when I press the keyboard lock button, it doesn't work. I figured out that I can hold down "A" on the homescreen to lock it, but now how do I unlock it?!
And PS: DON'T CHANGE YOUR HOUSING/BEZEL! I would much rather have a dinged up bezel than the situation I'm in now. Looks like I'm stuck with this Tour 'till December. I hope that people listen to my housing advice, and not be naive and ignore others like I did!
My Tour is 3 months old. Suddenly calls are dropping in the house and the battery charger is taking 10 hours to charge the spare OEM battery. Running the 5.0.419 and it's been fine. Verizon came out with theirs and it's so bad I went back to 419. Now I have an email from RIM saying new software for the phone is available but it doesn't say what version it is so I'm afraid to load it. Any one else have same issue? Phone was fine after going to the first 5.0 for 2 months but now after having changed from Verizon's 5.0. (been a month or so) the issues started about a week ago.

We use MS Outlook as our mail program.I was just playing around in Outlook trying to figure out how to attach my business card to the end of e-mails I send and soon realized I was looking at all of my personal cell numbers of friends, family etc. in Outlook on my corporate lap top ! Yikes ! I don't want my mom, ex wife, current GF's etc. contact info on my corporate laptop.Is there a way to get my Tour and/or Outlook to stop syncing my phone contacts to my my computer?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from my old Curve 8330 to the Tour 9630, both on Verizon, and I couldn't be happier with my new device -- except for one thing. The Curve had a great "standby" function I could use at night, in which the phone would lock its keyboard and effectively shut down, but still be able to receive calls if one came in. This also saved lots of battery power. After hours' worth of mashing the top "lock" and "mute" buttons on the Tour, and searching through the internal menus, I can't seem to find a similar mode on my new phone.
First: If there's a thread about this already somewhere else, I beg your pardon; I'd be grateful for a link and I'll be on my way there. But if not, does anybody know whether some devices just do not have a standby mode anymore as part of OS 5, or whether there might be something wrong with my phone because its mute key won't activate standby mode?
The key lock button the top left works, but, at least on my Curve, the key lock and standby were two very different things -- I'd lock the keyboard when I put the phone in my pocket, but I'd put it on standby before bed every night. Does key-lock mode on the Tour replace standby?
I've entered a pre-paid SIM card and can't read the phone book on my TOUR, i dont even have the option to retract them from the card to the phone when i go to the menu. Although I can make and receive calls with no problem.Did u guys have to do something special prior to entering the card?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought a unlocked sprint phone to work on my network (rogers) works fine, but when i go dial it shows the older persons number. I know i can turn this off to not show it but i want to change it. It can't be changed through general options. Im guessing its stored in the device with the last owners SPRINT CDMA settings. On a verizon i can do ##000000 but it doesn't work on sprint. Wipe security didn't erase it , Will JL_CMDER delete that??

I have always wanted the Tour but i'm skeptical because of the trackball issue that many people have had. Even though some people have said that the issue has been fixed in the newer brands people still complain... is it just because they don't clean it? Wifi isn't too big of a deal to me since i'll have 3G anyways. I know that the Bold 9650 comes out next month... but i can't wait that long for a new phone.
