Is anyone able to get an audible alert that you have received a text message while in a call? I have set the settings in the options (Ring Tones/Alerts), but it does not beep while in a call. I have also noticed that there is a setting for each contact to alert in a call (default set to no). However, shouldn't the setting in the options menu menu override that if it is set to notify in call?
View 9 RepliesI am on .230 and I have noticed that with only one of my contacts when I get a text message I get the alert but no notification on my screen. It sux cause if I don't hear it I never know I get a message from this person. What makes it worse is that I get messages from this person all the time so it's not a one in a while issue.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've recently come upon a severely aggravating problem: I have a message notification icon that will just not go away. It shows that I have an unread message in my SMS/MMS, but there is nothing at all. I've marked all previous items as opened and even went so far as to delete all of my previous messages, but no dice. The rest of my notifications are working perfectly fine, appearing and disappearing as they should. Any suggestions or fixes? (And yes, of course I already tried a battery pull, I'm aware that's it is the BB panacea for all problems).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm not receiving any notification of voice-mails.People leave me voicemails, but the Tour doesn't notify me of them. I do not have visual voice mail -- this is just plain ol' voicemail. I don't get texts notifying me of VM, either, but I'm not sure I'm set up to receive text notifications, so I'm less concerned about that.
I've been notified before that there is a new voicemail for me, and after that there was a little icon up near the email and text message icons until I listened to it. I don't get either of these any longer -- not the big notification or even the little icon with the number beside it. I don't know exactly when or why these have stopped.How can I get VM notifications back?
Since I recently upgraded, when I am typing a SMS text, if I hit the Return key to try and get to the next line, the text is being sent instead. Is there a way to turn this off? I want to be able to get to the next line, not send a text, with the return key.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOK I had to call 911 last night for the first time on my new BB after witnessing a Hit & Run, and when later filling out a statement for the police, They wanted the time of the accident in my statment. Well i went to my BB to look up in the call Log to see what time i called, but the 911 Call dose not show up in the call log.
Is this normal? Is there another way to find the call log info for that call, or dose BB not keep records of it? I Just got my BB late dec so I'm still faiirly new to BB's
How do I customize the call notification to vibrate and the text message notification to sound at the same time for vibration mode? The vibration mode works fine for me (both call and message notifications vibrate only), but sound notification for text messages when I am in the middle of something. I am a new Android user and it seems that both settings cannot be done separately for the vibration mode.

The reason I ask is I will be in the United States from July 30 - August 27, however I already purchased an American calling plan that gives me 100 roaming free minutes when I make or recieve a call. Anyway it also turns out my number is 1 digit off from the University of Toronto, so there have been a few times when I got phone calls from people thinking that's who they are calling. Now the reason why I am asking is if I can ignore some calls is just incase I see a phone number I don't know while I am in the United States, so I don't want to pick it up and I don't want it going to my voice mail incase they leave me one and then I need to call it and delete it.

View 7 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I bought a BlackBerry Tour 9630 from Verizon Wireless with the new 5.0.0.591 patch (at least I think that's the newest). Either way, the phone is great, I love it. I had no problems with it yesterday at all. I installed the software from the CD it came with onto my computer, connected my phone, updated it, etc. After messing with all that I went to sleep and woke up that morning with texts from my girlfriend. For a while we could respond back and fourth with no issues whatsoever.
However at one point, she sent me a text and I couldn't open it. I could see the preview of it (where it says "Blah blah blah..." with the 3 periods) but when I clicked it, it wouldn't open. So I randomly clicked a few things to get the conversation open and when I get it open the place where it text should be is blank. All it has is the ">" showing it to be her text. Yet I can still see the preview of the text. Now, I can't get any texts opened from her nor can I read them in the conversations. So I did my research, looked online and found this to be a fairly common problem but with no real, concrete fixes. It could potentially be either a BlackBerry problem (most likely with the new 5.0 patch) or a Verizon Wireless problem. Part of me wants to think it is more likely the patch but I have no way to be sure of that.
So I need to know if there are any real solutions to this. Should I just go to the Verizon Wireless store and see if they can fix it seeing as how it might not even be a Verizon problem? I'm not sure what they can do to a patch BlackBerry sent out. Any temporary fixes or soft resets or hard resets or whatever I do only work for about a text or two and then it goes back to failing again. I'm not sure what to do or when this problem will be fixed or have a solution.
I'm using a Tour on Verizon. The trackball broke and I got a new phone. On this phone, the SMS messages show up as a stream instead of messages. Verizon says they are "working" and wont do anything. This is completely unacceptable.If I want to delete a message- it deletes EVERY SINGLE message I have from that contact including the ones I want to save. I've had to restore SMS from my backup 3 times now- and just give up on deleting anything. They say I have to go and scroll through EVERY list to find specific messages to delete for every person.I also get automated SMS messages from various equipment I monitor at work, and these all show up as one big message with no date/time stamps- and I end up missing important messages because the most recent one is just a "status" message.
When looking at the solid stream of messages many (but not all) of my contacts have a GREAT BIG "Contact information: [Their phone number]" taking up 40% of the screen meaning I have to scroll up and down to read even short SMS messages.How can I get my SMS messages to show up as messages like they are supposed to instead of the "stream of **bleep**" that they show up as now?
I upgraded my tour this morning. Now every text message I get from my twitter account just lumps into one message. you cant tell whats new or what you have read or who they are from , I need to turn that off to go bacl to individual messages. How do I do that.
