I doubt their answer is going to help anyone, but here goes.they said to disable the firewall.
and to set ALL permissions to "allow".Seems like a funny couple of tips, seeing as how I told them the problem I had was intermittent loud volume and skipping songs randomly. I had also mentioned that album art was missing in the previous version of slacker--something that's been working since I upgraded BEFORE I emailed them.
anyway, that's what they told me to do. nothing else. sigh. No word of them working on a new release, which is what I wanted (chuckle) to hear.

I listen to Slacker radio all the time, but sometimes in the middle of a song, the volume the cranks up. I'll be sitting in the library listening to music, doing homework without touching the phone, then the next thing I know the volume increases x1.5, then I have to turn it down manually, even though the volume adjuster is the same as before. I haven't noticed this using Windows Media Player, but I use Slacker 85% more than anything else. Has anyone else experienced this, or is my phone defective?
I just upgraded to .517, and it has occurred on both OS'.

First of all I know that this is a topic that has been discussed several times, and I have spent that past few days researching to try and find the solution on my own, but I have not had any luck. I have a storm 2 and I downloaded Slacker Radio version 2.0.91 which I downloaded directly from slacker.com. The app works great but caching stations is where I am having a problem. I have MSM enabled (prompt) and as far as I know the encryption is not on. Once I have selected the station I want to cache, I completely exit out of Slacker and then connect to my computer. It allows my phone to go into MSM and I get an autorun pop up for Slacker and I can select sync cached stations. When I make this selection a little box comes up saying "Checking Slacker Station Loader Version" and then the box disappears and absolutely nothing happens. I have tried rebooting the computer, doing battery pulls, dleteing slacker from my phone and media card and reinstalling and I cannot get this to work.

I guinea pigged this, and can confirm it works...partially !!! Install .451, replace java folder with .497, then copy and paste .484 java over that... (NOTE: you may experience an app error reset, just let it reboot and you should be fine!)

First I would like to say hello to my fellow berry folks. This is my first post on this site. I was a regular on blackberryforums.com but I see there is a greater following on crackberry, so I'll share my story here......
I have AT&T for my carrier and I was up for an phone upgrade. A few months ago I purchased a brand new 9550 (had the Pearl2 before that and the original Pearl before that!) that was unlocked and I loved it!!! Since this was a Verizon phone, I could not use AT&T's 3G network so I decided to go with the "next best thing", the Iphone. Well, 24 hours later I was returning the phone back to the story. I was unimpressed. Here are the reasons why, though they may seem petty, was enough for me to give it back.........
1. No LED status indicator. I didn't realize how much I actually depended on this. For example, if you get a text or better yet miss a text, you MUST push the home button to turn the screen on to see if you received a text or not. With the Blackberry, a quick glance at the status indicator LED would let you know that. This will never be capiable with any current Iphone as they do not have any such "bulb". There are apps that can "flash" the screen but I can imagine that would play a big part in the battery life. I've read on a few Iphone forums that the users wish they had an LED indicator, while other said that it would be annoying to have this feature. But as annoying as it may be, it is an OPTION with the Blackberry.
2. No sound profiles. Well, it actually has two. Silent, which you only have the option to change vibrate to on/off. The other option is just a general option where you can change the loudness on the ring via a slider. There is a Sound Profile app that'll cost you about $7.
3. You cannot use any apps outside the Apple App store unless you "jailbreak" it. Jailbreaking will void your warranty. We all already know Blackberry is open to all outside apps.
4. Home screen does not "flip" when turned to landscape. May be an app for that.
5. Scary to think what happens to this phone when the battery actually dies, since you can't replace it (not a reason to totally ditch the phone but worth noting).
A few things that were pretty sweet on the Iphone........
1. Safari. Very nice and extremely user friendly. Was very fast but I don't have anything to compare it with since my Blackberry could not use the 3G network. Hopefully RIMs new browser will be up to par.
2. A trillion apps..........Nuff said........It'll be quite awhile for Blackberry to catch up in that department. But my guess it that 95% of Apples apps are pretty useless.
3. No clicking. This is bitter/sweet for me. For typing, clicking is a MUST for me and I missed it dearly. But for larger "depressions" like icons and such where mistakes are minimal due to the fact of the larger area to push on, a simple tap on the screen was very nice. I wish a "tap not click" was an option on the Blackberry, as I would be tapping icons and clicking text.

Whenever I put my storm2 on the charging dock at night to go to sleep, I put it into bedside mode. The problem is when I wake up the radio is off.How do I get the radio / mobile network to not turn off automatically? There are times when I need to be on call at night and I need to be able to receive calls. Also, there when I put it on the charging dock the battery is more than 50%.

IT Policy for "security" reasons. Kind of ticks me off since this is my own device, but using it so I don't have to carry 2 BB's. Encryption set to on, locked. No mass storage mode, locked.Anyway, can anyone tell me where on the device the stock "folder" icons are? I would like to replace them with some that are more elegant.And since no mass storage mode when i connect to computer, how do I move them from the SD card to device memory?

Since RIM is sending out updated 9550 hardware (BlackBerry Storm2 Screen Improved-Verizon Wireless Returning Current Stock | BerryScoop) i went in to talk to the local VZW store and they confirmed that i could trade my current S2 on .320 with bottom button issues for a new unit. i will be going to pick it up tomorrow, and immediately installing .428 but what is the best way to back up ALL of the info on my current S2 before trading it in? i am talking contacts, profiles, apps, themes, etc. before the flames begin, i have searched/read many threads on this topic but they are always instructions for very old versions of DM and OS/hardware.

I got the storm 2 like 2 weeks ago and I loved it only problems were the back button wouldn't work like 40% of the time and my send button rarely worked. Well after reading that they were replacing them free I went to a verizon store today and of course when I took it in all the buttons worked. Well the guy still offered to exchange it for me. the whole thing took less than a half hour and he gave me a new battery just for the **** of it and the replacement is soo much better! All the buttons work and overall typing is soo much better on it now. I didn't think it would go that smoothly but so far I have had verizon almost 2 years and I have had great service with them since the start. Now I looked at the box and there was no green dot on it or anything and I haven't looked at the date under the battery yet cuz I have been using the phone alot and right now im listening to music but all the buttons work great and the back button dosent click like its on crack everytime I click it.

Well long story short my blackberry storm died today and verizon is sending me a replacement, and was nice enough to send me a storm 2 as a replacement only bad news is, the storm 2 replacement does NOT come with a battery door.so my question is, does the blackberry storm battery door fit the storm 2? if not,
does anyone know any reliable websites where I can get a blackberry storm 2 battery door?

I miss the owner information on a Storm2 when the device is locked.Having upgraded from a Storm to a Storm2 using the DM Device Switch Wizard, there is no owner information showing.
The owner information and the blue screen shows quickly up when the device is booted but not when it is locked. Does anybody know how to get the owner info back showing up on a locked screen or has an idea for a workaround?

Ok i have 2 storm 2s, on one the AOL Icon still shows up... *even after a battery pull* on the other my AOL icon has just turned into the standard email icon folder, black and white with the Globe underneath.... anyone know how to get the AOL Icon back on the phone? And what would cause it to fall off of one phone but stay on the other phone?

I tried to setup my email on my BB storm 2 just now and when I go to setup>setup wizard>email setup> I only get one option > " I want to use a work email account with a blackberry enterprise server" when I click next, it says "has your blackberry enterprise server administrator provided you with an enterprise activation password?"And no I was not provided with one, so I hit no>next> it then says "contact your system administrator to find out whether an enterprise activation password will be provided, or if you need to install the blackberry desktop software" I do have the BB desktop software installed.So how do I fix this? Do I have to setup my email from the BB desktop program that came with my phone?

I just upgraded the OS my Storm 2 from Blackberry/Verizon to .713 and now I have two icons on the main screen that I had set previously to combine. My emails and SMS text messages were combined eliminating one icon to have on the main screen. I used to be able to go under options from the email icon and change that. Now I can not find where to make this change back to one?

I am still relatively new to Blackberry. I am confused about my email.Two questions:
1. If I reply to an email on my BB, is there a way to get a copy of it on Outlook on my PC? I would like to have some sort of paper trail on my computer.
2. If I read an email on Outlook, is there a way to make it show that the email has been opened on my BB? For example, I had four emails in my mailbox. I read them all on Outlook and responded to them. Then I look at my BB and I had four new emails, thought I've already opened, read, and responded to them.
Is there a way to mark as opened on my BB without physically doing so?

I have been trying to figure out what delete 'on handheld' and 'on mailbox & handheld' mean. After some google and forum searches I am more confused. I use comcast for email. I use verizon for cell service (BIS). If I get an email to one of my addresses and it is spam or an ad or something disposable, is it possible to delete it from my phone and have it delete from the mail server as well - meaning, when I finally get around to opening outlook to download my mail, I will not get the ones I've deleted from my phone? I am sure this is a simple thing - but for some reason I get more and more confused the more I try to figure it out.

I have 2 personal, 2 work, 2 miscellaneous email accounts. I combined the 2 personal into a "personal" folder, the 2 work in a "Work" folder and left the other 2 alone. I have 4 email accounts on my first 2 rows. You know what I mean, right? How do you manage your accounts? Do you have separate email accounts on your screen? How do you combine them? I know it is a personal preference but I am willing to try a new trick (even as an old dog!)

Anyone know if rim is even thinking about giving the messages app threaded email? They did it for sms on storm 5.0 ... So why not for email too, right?
I think the email inbox would be so much more organized if email convos were threaded.
Guess it could be more complicated than sms, but it could definitely be done.

This is really getting annoying. I have everything set to my Gmail, but it keeps going to a Yahoo addy that I want to slowly get away from. I am trying to get people to stop sending to it, but I still have it linked to my Ebay and thats why I want to keep it on the phone...so other than a total deletion of the address, what can I do? (Yes, in messaging service I have the Gmail chosen)

I have scrolled through the forums reading about both these phones and i have a few questions
1.What i am still unsure of is which phone is better suited to Canadian phone companies neither will get 3g coverage but will one work better than the other like will they both get 2.5g coverage?
2. Also i have read that possibly the 9520 will be comin to rogers but i havnt heard anything recent on it does anyone have news on a release date or anything?
3. Right now i am thinkin of buyin the storm 9550 from telus and either goin with fido or terminate my contract with them and stay with telus or move to rogers. Is there a company that is better suited to the storm 2 or will either giv me 2.5g?
