Jan 8, 2010I have a little red circle with a line going through it on my screen in between the Voice Mail icon and the Visual Voice icon, just below the time and date (center top of screen). I am using the default Zen theme figuring maybe it was a 3rd party theme but isn't not from pone. Its probably a no brainer but I guess I don't have one!

May 22, 2010the proximity sensor works fine when I am on a phone call, (ie: my face does not push any buttons), but when I am listening to a Visual Voice Mail, I am constantly stopping the playback of the message when the screen touches my face. Seems like the screen lock out feature does not work at all in VVM (but works fine while on a call).
This did not happen before the upgrade to .607.

May 26, 2010First I would like to say hello to my fellow berry folks. This is my first post on this site. I was a regular on blackberryforums.com but I see there is a greater following on crackberry, so I'll share my story here......
I have AT&T for my carrier and I was up for an phone upgrade. A few months ago I purchased a brand new 9550 (had the Pearl2 before that and the original Pearl before that!) that was unlocked and I loved it!!! Since this was a Verizon phone, I could not use AT&T's 3G network so I decided to go with the "next best thing", the Iphone. Well, 24 hours later I was returning the phone back to the story. I was unimpressed. Here are the reasons why, though they may seem petty, was enough for me to give it back.........
1. No LED status indicator. I didn't realize how much I actually depended on this. For example, if you get a text or better yet miss a text, you MUST push the home button to turn the screen on to see if you received a text or not. With the Blackberry, a quick glance at the status indicator LED would let you know that. This will never be capiable with any current Iphone as they do not have any such "bulb". There are apps that can "flash" the screen but I can imagine that would play a big part in the battery life. I've read on a few Iphone forums that the users wish they had an LED indicator, while other said that it would be annoying to have this feature. But as annoying as it may be, it is an OPTION with the Blackberry.
2. No sound profiles. Well, it actually has two. Silent, which you only have the option to change vibrate to on/off. The other option is just a general option where you can change the loudness on the ring via a slider. There is a Sound Profile app that'll cost you about $7.
3. You cannot use any apps outside the Apple App store unless you "jailbreak" it. Jailbreaking will void your warranty. We all already know Blackberry is open to all outside apps.
4. Home screen does not "flip" when turned to landscape. May be an app for that.
5. Scary to think what happens to this phone when the battery actually dies, since you can't replace it (not a reason to totally ditch the phone but worth noting).
A few things that were pretty sweet on the Iphone........
1. Safari. Very nice and extremely user friendly. Was very fast but I don't have anything to compare it with since my Blackberry could not use the 3G network. Hopefully RIMs new browser will be up to par.
2. A trillion apps..........Nuff said........It'll be quite awhile for Blackberry to catch up in that department. But my guess it that 95% of Apples apps are pretty useless.
3. No clicking. This is bitter/sweet for me. For typing, clicking is a MUST for me and I missed it dearly. But for larger "depressions" like icons and such where mistakes are minimal due to the fact of the larger area to push on, a simple tap on the screen was very nice. I wish a "tap not click" was an option on the Blackberry, as I would be tapping icons and clicking text.
BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: E-mail Sending From The Wrong E-mail Address
Mar 19, 2010I just sent an e-mail to myself from my blackberry and chose to send from my gmail account, but instead it just decided it might be better to send it from my work e-mail address? How do I fix this? It's absolutely unacceptable and I really hate to know who else now has my work e-mail address because of this. My phone tells me it sent from the correct e-mail address, but the address showing up in the e-mail where I received it says my work e-mail address was the sender.
If it was mixing up my gmail accounts that'd be irritating, but not a big deal - but the fact that it's just sending out of my work e-mail is a serious problem - does anyone know how to fix this?

Jan 12, 2010When I push the "Messages" icon on my Storm 2 to view email and voice mail, there are 2 voice mails that are always there - I delete them every day but they return for some reason. I go to Visual Voice mail and they are not there - only under the "Messages" icon.

Jul 25, 2010Has anyone else faced problems with this?I was minute taking in a meeting last week and thought i'd utilise my Berry to record notes for back up reference.so I thought.anyway it turns out that whenever i start the recorder, it would record for as long as the backlight was on! so about 2min..very annoyed When I eventually realised what was gong on, it took around 2 attempts to finally get the phone to start recording for longer but now its left me with little confidence. anyone? or do I just put it down as one of the weird and wonderful things of a BlackBerry that just requires a battery pull.

Jan 7, 2010I have separate folders set up for my e-mail and my SMS messages. All my SMS messages are going to the SMS folder just fine, and in fact, not going to the messages folder. But my e-mails for some reason are going straight to the messages folder and not to my e-mail at all. I would much rather have them go to my e-mail folder.

Apr 2, 2010Accuracy is terrible for me. Have tried it directly with the phone and through a Blueant Q1 headset. In both cases it's rare for the voice dialing to recognize the name or numbers I'm saying, even in a quietly running car with the windows closed and no music. Sometimes the guesses are completely off, like when I say "604" for the area code and it asks if I said "644".I've read on this board about training the devie to my voice but I can't see how to do that.As an aside, I hate the voice with the british accent that reads back the name or number - any way to change it to a North American accent?I'm running a 9550 with 5.0.0.320.

When I use my Rocketfish bluetooth headset it works fabulously, almost always gets the correct name, but when I use the handset it's almost always wrong.This has been the case since day 1 on my S2 regardless of the OS I've been on and I've tried all the officials and several hybrids. Mar 4, 2010Since RIM is sending out updated 9550 hardware (BlackBerry Storm2 Screen Improved-Verizon Wireless Returning Current Stock | BerryScoop) i went in to talk to the local VZW store and they confirmed that i could trade my current S2 on .320 with bottom button issues for a new unit. i will be going to pick it up tomorrow, and immediately installing .428 but what is the best way to back up ALL of the info on my current S2 before trading it in? i am talking contacts, profiles, apps, themes, etc. before the flames begin, i have searched/read many threads on this topic but they are always instructions for very old versions of DM and OS/hardware.

Feb 8, 2010I finally got my e-mail accounts put onto my BB storm! Problem now is that it currently dispays that I have 182 unread e-mails in the upper left hand corner and the currect number should be zero. When I restored my accounts (including my bb email, yahoo, and gmail) I decided to delete two (yahoo, gmail) and delete all the messages off of the BB email but still keep the account. I added only one other account that links to my University e-mail adress but besides those two there are no more e-mail addresses on the phone. Both of those mailboxes are empty so I'm guessing the 182 was possibly a combination number of the yahoo and gmail accounts I deleted from the handheld. Any ideas on how I can clear out that number?

Jan 9, 2010I just updated my 9550's OS to the leaked .428 and the transition was fine besides one issue. The e-mail icon is stuck on my screen. I've read a few threads with this issue and tried every fix they had, nothing has worked. I think I've found the cause of the issue, but don't have a resolution. When I loaded the OS, I had two new Facebook messages. When the OS loaded, the OS recognized them as e-mails until I activated the Facebook app. When it loaded, the Facebook icon popped up on the homescreen, but the e-mail icon didn't disappear.
Some steps I've taken to try to resolve the issue:
1) Check all message locations, including SMS, MMS, BBM, e-mails, etc. There are no new messages anywhere.
2) Deleted both e-mail accounts from my phone, didn't take it away.
3) Backed up my data and wiped/restored.
4) Deleted Facebook as an app, then backed up the data and wiped/restored. Even without Facebook as an app the e-mail icon is still there.
5) Went to Options, Advanced Options, Host Routing Table, Register Now.
6) Went to Options, Advanced, Service Book, deleted my e-mail from there.

May 3, 2010So I noticed on someones Curve 8330 that they had a different icon for their Yahoo (and AOL) email account and I was wondering why I don't have that for my Yahoo account on my Storm. I just have the default envelope icon, is there anyway for me to get the "Purple Y" icon on my Storm? Or is there anyway to customize the email icons on my Storm?

Mar 12, 2010I got the storm 2 like 2 weeks ago and I loved it only problems were the back button wouldn't work like 40% of the time and my send button rarely worked. Well after reading that they were replacing them free I went to a verizon store today and of course when I took it in all the buttons worked. Well the guy still offered to exchange it for me. the whole thing took less than a half hour and he gave me a new battery just for the **** of it and the replacement is soo much better! All the buttons work and overall typing is soo much better on it now. I didn't think it would go that smoothly but so far I have had verizon almost 2 years and I have had great service with them since the start. Now I looked at the box and there was no green dot on it or anything and I haven't looked at the date under the battery yet cuz I have been using the phone alot and right now im listening to music but all the buttons work great and the back button dosent click like its on crack everytime I click it.

and to set ALL permissions to "allow".Seems like a funny couple of tips, seeing as how I told them the problem I had was intermittent loud volume and skipping songs randomly. I had also mentioned that album art was missing in the previous version of slacker--something that's been working since I upgraded BEFORE I emailed them.
anyway, that's what they told me to do. nothing else. sigh. No word of them working on a new release, which is what I wanted (chuckle) to hear.

Apr 12, 2010I miss the owner information on a Storm2 when the device is locked.Having upgraded from a Storm to a Storm2 using the DM Device Switch Wizard, there is no owner information showing.
The owner information and the blue screen shows quickly up when the device is booted but not when it is locked. Does anybody know how to get the owner info back showing up on a locked screen or has an idea for a workaround?

1.What i am still unsure of is which phone is better suited to Canadian phone companies neither will get 3g coverage but will one work better than the other like will they both get 2.5g coverage?
2. Also i have read that possibly the 9520 will be comin to rogers but i havnt heard anything recent on it does anyone have news on a release date or anything?
3. Right now i am thinkin of buyin the storm 9550 from telus and either goin with fido or terminate my contract with them and stay with telus or move to rogers. Is there a company that is better suited to the storm 2 or will either giv me 2.5g?
