BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: New OS .607 Custom Text Alert Tones?
Apr 9, 2010I recently installed the new OS (.607) for the Storm 2 9550 (Verizon) using DM. Everything seemed to go over well; didn't backup my contacts and lost BBM contacts (i didn't think to back them up, Whoops :x ) Anyway, i had SMS alert tones for specific contacts which i had edited while adding the contacts when i first got the phone, back in October/November. When a said person texted/called, the tone that i assigned worked like a charm. Fast Forward to a few days ago (whenever .607 was officially released), i was re-adding my contacts (thank god i still have my old LG Dare), and putting in the custom tones for the specific people like i had before (the ringtones are saved on my 16gig memory card) and i noticed that when one of them called, the tone works as it should. However, when i get a SMS from them, it plays the default SMS tone (which is also custom). The same thing happens with MMS messages as well. Any ideas as to why the default tone plays instead of the custom one i specified? (I tried taking out the "-" in the phone #, since when i enter them in my contacts, i enter the number like so: (XXX)XXX-XXXX) but when i do that, the SMS shows up in my BBM chats with the BBM alert (was a suggestion i found while Googling the issue).

Jan 26, 2010Is there an alert to notify me that my phone has lost service, either an alert already on the phone or a 3rd party alert. There are times when I enter my office building that I am apparently losing service while riding in the elevator and I have to reboot to get it back. The problem is if I don't notice it, I end up having people get in touch with by another means wondering why I'm not answering my phone or why it is going straight to voicemail.

Feb 1, 2010- i set a custom ringtone for SMS for a contact (ie BBPro_Sanguine)
- all other options (vol, LED, vib, etc) are set to "Active Profile"
- hit "try it" and you get nothing.
- if that person actually sends an SMS, either you dont get ringtone, or it does default Lightspeed tone.
also, if you set any of the other options (vol,LED,vib), the ring tone works: but if you do custom ringtone for voice calls, everything work as it should. started happening after i upgraded to the 428 leak. hasnt gone away since all the hybrids if installed.
BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: Custom Rings Doesn't Work
Mar 30, 2010I have complained lately that when I get a call, the custom ring doesn't work--instead it rings like a Ma bell phone. I put two and two together today when I received a call while the phone was plugged into my ps3. unplugged, it rang properly. plugged into my pc--same issue. tried my wife's phone plugged into my computer--same issue. Plug the phone into the RIM charger, the ringer works correctly.

Apr 14, 2010I put my phone into bedside mode each night as I put into my charging pod. I have bedside mode configured as "Phone Calls Only", all message options are set with vibration off for this profile. I have reviewed the BerryBuzz settings and they are set with vibration off as well. However, each time I get a new message with bedside mode enabled my phone vibrates once. I even put the phone into silent mode and dang thing still vibrates. This has worked fine in the past. Only changes is new OS (.607) install and newest BerryBuzz.
I'm not sure if this is a OS or BerryBuzz related issue, will have to disable BerryBuzz and see if this still occurs. Anyone else experiencing this type of behavior?
BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: Custom Words Collection (auto Correct)
Mar 19, 2010I was looking in my backups in Desktop Manager and noticed a file called CustomWordsCollection. I suspect this is the SureType "learning" dictionary. I want to wipe it out and start over.So I loaded this up in advanced and selected the line and clicked "clear". But it won't clear. So then I thought I might try to find an earlier back up with only a few words (my current one has 200+) and overwrite the existing one. So I found one with 37 records. I double arrow clicked to move the older backup from the left to the right, and it ADDED those words. I can't figure out how to just wipe out the existing 200+ customwordscollection. I thought I was supposed to be able to clear these and it would basically "delete" the number to 0. Am I doing something wrong or misunderstanding the functionality? Please help. I'm pretty confident this is the file that needs to be wiped out to get me to a start over place.

Aug 21, 2010On bbm I keep getting an incoming bbm instant message alert/sound while im typing a message. The alert/sound only appears for incoming bbm messages when I'm typing on bbm. the alert/sound is different than the sound that I set on the profile menu and the volume is much bigger. Can I deactivate this alert/sound?

Mar 29, 2010Ok i have 2 storm 2s, on one the AOL Icon still shows up... *even after a battery pull* on the other my AOL icon has just turned into the standard email icon folder, black and white with the Globe underneath.... anyone know how to get the AOL Icon back on the phone? And what would cause it to fall off of one phone but stay on the other phone?

Apr 20, 2010I tried to setup my email on my BB storm 2 just now and when I go to setup>setup wizard>email setup> I only get one option > " I want to use a work email account with a blackberry enterprise server" when I click next, it says "has your blackberry enterprise server administrator provided you with an enterprise activation password?"And no I was not provided with one, so I hit no>next> it then says "contact your system administrator to find out whether an enterprise activation password will be provided, or if you need to install the blackberry desktop software" I do have the BB desktop software installed.So how do I fix this? Do I have to setup my email from the BB desktop program that came with my phone?

Jul 3, 2010I just upgraded the OS my Storm 2 from Blackberry/Verizon to .713 and now I have two icons on the main screen that I had set previously to combine. My emails and SMS text messages were combined eliminating one icon to have on the main screen. I used to be able to go under options from the email icon and change that. 1. If I reply to an email on my BB, is there a way to get a copy of it on Outlook on my PC? I would like to have some sort of paper trail on my computer.
2. If I read an email on Outlook, is there a way to make it show that the email has been opened on my BB? For example, I had four emails in my mailbox. I read them all on Outlook and responded to them. Then I look at my BB and I had four new emails, thought I've already opened, read, and responded to them.
Is there a way to mark as opened on my BB without physically doing so?
BB Storm2 9550/9520 :: Deleting Email Confusion?
Feb 17, 2010I have been trying to figure out what delete 'on handheld' and 'on mailbox & handheld' mean. After some google and forum searches I am more confused. I use comcast for email. I use verizon for cell service (BIS). If I get an email to one of my addresses and it is spam or an ad or something disposable, is it possible to delete it from my phone and have it delete from the mail server as well - meaning, when I finally get around to opening outlook to download my mail, I will not get the ones I've deleted from my phone? I am sure this is a simple thing - but for some reason I get more and more confused the more I try to figure it out.

Apr 17, 2010I have 2 personal, 2 work, 2 miscellaneous email accounts. I combined the 2 personal into a "personal" folder, the 2 work in a "Work" folder and left the other 2 alone. I have 4 email accounts on my first 2 rows. You know what I mean, right? How do you manage your accounts? Do you have separate email accounts on your screen? How do you combine them? I know it is a personal preference but I am willing to try a new trick (even as an old dog!)

I think the email inbox would be so much more organized if email convos were threaded.

May 23, 2010This is really getting annoying. I have everything set to my Gmail, but it keeps going to a Yahoo addy that I want to slowly get away from. I am trying to get people to stop sending to it, but I still have it linked to my Ebay and thats why I want to keep it on the phone...so other than a total deletion of the address, what can I do? (Yes, in messaging service I have the Gmail chosen)

1.What i am still unsure of is which phone is better suited to Canadian phone companies neither will get 3g coverage but will one work better than the other like will they both get 2.5g coverage?
2. Also i have read that possibly the 9520 will be comin to rogers but i havnt heard anything recent on it does anyone have news on a release date or anything?
3. Right now i am thinkin of buyin the storm 9550 from telus and either goin with fido or terminate my contract with them and stay with telus or move to rogers. Is there a company that is better suited to the storm 2 or will either giv me 2.5g?

Feb 6, 2010Ok. I have looked online. I have resent my service books. I have done battery pulls. I've done....everything. I called Verizon and they resent my service booka and re-registered my email address. Then she told me to check in the applications list and see if I had blackberry attachment loader of something like that. I wasn't at my computer but she assured me that that's all I needed. Said all I had to do was connect to the desktop manager and load it on. It wasn't there. I have no clue what I need to do but if someone can please help me get this fixed I would greatly appreciate it. I can't open any pics that people send me and its driving me up the wall.

Jan 22, 2010I have read all I can on this issue and it hasn't helped. I have a strange and dare I say new fault with my 9520. I can't send or forward emails BUT I can reply to an email. I am on BIS with O2UK and when I try and send, the option is just not in the menu and the mail symbol (for send) remains greyed out when I try and send or forward what I compose or receive.
All other data services are working and I have sent service books a hundred times and even tried 3 different OS's after doing security wipe!
