Any suggestions? I recieve and send messages under my "messages" icon on my phone
'm having a weird issue happening in our Blackberry environment. Several of our users are reporting that when they leave for the day, their email do not populate until they return to the office the next morning. What I've gathered so far is, it seems like the device doesn't know when to switch back to 3G when the Wi-Fi connection we have here at work drops. In other words, the phone stops sending/receiving email because it no longer has a Wi-Fi connection but it never switches back to 3G. If I turn off the Wi-Fi on the problematic devices, they never have any of the problems mentioned above - but the uppers do not like that solution.
I tried searching for this but couldnt find any answers. i was playing around with my buddy's droid and he has a program where he can talk and it converts it to a text message. is there any program/app like this for the storm 2?

View 4 Replies View RelatedProbably the most frustrating thing on my Storm is the predictive text. Most times it is helpful. Sometimes, it makes we want to hurl the phone through a window. Is there any way to edit what comes up? When I type "You" I get "Ypu" or "Tou". When I type "sorry" I get "apert". Any way to edit what comes up when you type words that are this common?

I was texting back/forth with a friend the other day and it was taking about 20 mins or so to get a reply.I noticed my 'delivery report' was between 5-10 mins to get the D for delivered.I started sending the times I was sending the messages and ask when they were received, which they were received right away however I would get the reply about 15 minutes later. Is there a known issue with text delay?
I am currently running .451

View 13 Replies View RelatedI recently installed the new OS (.607) for the Storm 2 9550 (Verizon) using DM. Everything seemed to go over well; didn't backup my contacts and lost BBM contacts (i didn't think to back them up, Whoops :x ) Anyway, i had SMS alert tones for specific contacts which i had edited while adding the contacts when i first got the phone, back in October/November. When a said person texted/called, the tone that i assigned worked like a charm. Fast Forward to a few days ago (whenever .607 was officially released), i was re-adding my contacts (thank god i still have my old LG Dare), and putting in the custom tones for the specific people like i had before (the ringtones are saved on my 16gig memory card) and i noticed that when one of them called, the tone works as it should. However, when i get a SMS from them, it plays the default SMS tone (which is also custom). The same thing happens with MMS messages as well. Any ideas as to why the default tone plays instead of the custom one i specified? (I tried taking out the "-" in the phone #, since when i enter them in my contacts, i enter the number like so: (XXX)XXX-XXXX) but when i do that, the SMS shows up in my BBM chats with the BBM alert (was a suggestion i found while Googling the issue).
View 14 Replies View RelatedI just got the storm 2 and there are two things that annoy me, one is the enter button sends my text messages and on my curve that button made a new paragraph. My question is how do you drop down a line (make a new paragraph) when texting on the storm 2?I understand the OS 5.0.32 doesn't have the feature to turn off the enter button from sending, hope verizon releases an os update soon.
View 7 Replies View RelatedDidn't know where else to put this, since Idk if it's a 9550 only thing or all BB's, but when I receive a text message I like to know when I received it, or how long ago. But whenever I tap the received message it always says received one minute ago, unless it was on an earlier date. But, if I get a text at 8am and check it at noon, then tap on it, it says received one minute ago. Any way to fix this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just sent an e-mail to myself from my blackberry and chose to send from my gmail account, but instead it just decided it might be better to send it from my work e-mail address? How do I fix this? It's absolutely unacceptable and I really hate to know who else now has my work e-mail address because of this. My phone tells me it sent from the correct e-mail address, but the address showing up in the e-mail where I received it says my work e-mail address was the sender.
If it was mixing up my gmail accounts that'd be irritating, but not a big deal - but the fact that it's just sending out of my work e-mail is a serious problem - does anyone know how to fix this?
I have scrolled through the forums reading about both these phones and i have a few questions
1.What i am still unsure of is which phone is better suited to Canadian phone companies neither will get 3g coverage but will one work better than the other like will they both get 2.5g coverage?
2. Also i have read that possibly the 9520 will be comin to rogers but i havnt heard anything recent on it does anyone have news on a release date or anything?
3. Right now i am thinkin of buyin the storm 9550 from telus and either goin with fido or terminate my contract with them and stay with telus or move to rogers. Is there a company that is better suited to the storm 2 or will either giv me 2.5g?
To erase the entire field of text you are typing, do any of the following
-Hold down the backspace button
-Hit the bb menu->clear field
-Take advantage of the multi click by pressing the Capitalize button and hitting backspace
Pulled this from tips and tricks.
Tried this and had no luck, anybody have any ideas on how to get this working properly currently on the .428 s/w....
Does anyone know how (or if you can) get SMS text msgs to display under "Messages" on the home screen? I just upgraded from the Curve to the Storm2 and I am used to being able to see a portion of the unread SMS msg on my home screen..
View 7 Replies View RelatedHelp/Advice is needed ASAP!I'm leaving for Switzerland in less than 10 hours and I needed to find a way to keep in contact with my family here in the U.S. for relatively cheap. Well I bought a plan with Skype (since I have Skype mobile on my storm) where I can make international calls for reasonable rates. Now I am afraid that my friends may call/text my phone while I'm overseas NOT using skype and rack up my Verizon bill. Is there anyway at all that I can block calls and texts from coming to my phone but not interfere with my skype mobile? Also has anyone used Skype mobile overseas? Does it work well?
View 7 Replies View RelatedA little background story, I was in school in the locker room and its on the bottom floor in the middle of the school. I took my phone out and had no service. I looked at a text message I got earlier in the day but hadn't looked at until then and I noticed to the right of the 160 character count there was 1 of 6. Now I immediately tried sending a 2 page text to a friend just trying to test this and sure enough it sent both parts and she received both too. I have my original Storm 2 that I got from Verizon, it still has the stock OS on it, .320.Now after 2 days I found out a little more on why this happened. I had no service like I said, the bars were red and it said SOS. So I literally had no service. I checked the connections manager and it didn't show I was connected to Verizon Wireless. I then opened a text message and sure enough it was there, 1 of 6. It only shows up when you have no service at all. I then went back into service after typing two pages and it worked. I did try just turning the connection to the network off but that didn't work, it didn't show the multi-page message, 1 of 6. It only works if you find a dead zone/no service area. It showed up for all the contacts I had SMS messages for, no matter what carrier they had.
After my first post I decided to take a picture. Now I wasn't able to get/find a app before I went to school so I took my camera and took the pictures. They are not very clear at all but you can see what I'm talking about. This is the clearest picture I could seem to get. Its fuzzy but if you look at the top you will see the name of the contact and then just under it where it says 160 / 1 of 6.Multi-Page Text: 160 / 1 of 6 .Let me know what you think? I would really like to see this get integrated.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI've been thinking of getting a Blackberry for quite some time now and decided to get the storm2 due to it's larger screen.I m located in Canada and using Fido (or Rogers). So I could get either one right? But why do I hear some rumors that 9550 is not so good on GSM as the 9520? Should I get 9550 or 9520? I wont be using the CDMA at all, but it seems that I could get 9550 a lot easier than 9520 in Canada.

View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst I would like to say hello to my fellow berry folks. This is my first post on this site. I was a regular on blackberryforums.com but I see there is a greater following on crackberry, so I'll share my story here......
I have AT&T for my carrier and I was up for an phone upgrade. A few months ago I purchased a brand new 9550 (had the Pearl2 before that and the original Pearl before that!) that was unlocked and I loved it!!! Since this was a Verizon phone, I could not use AT&T's 3G network so I decided to go with the "next best thing", the Iphone. Well, 24 hours later I was returning the phone back to the story. I was unimpressed. Here are the reasons why, though they may seem petty, was enough for me to give it back.........
1. No LED status indicator. I didn't realize how much I actually depended on this. For example, if you get a text or better yet miss a text, you MUST push the home button to turn the screen on to see if you received a text or not. With the Blackberry, a quick glance at the status indicator LED would let you know that. This will never be capiable with any current Iphone as they do not have any such "bulb". There are apps that can "flash" the screen but I can imagine that would play a big part in the battery life. I've read on a few Iphone forums that the users wish they had an LED indicator, while other said that it would be annoying to have this feature. But as annoying as it may be, it is an OPTION with the Blackberry.
2. No sound profiles. Well, it actually has two. Silent, which you only have the option to change vibrate to on/off. The other option is just a general option where you can change the loudness on the ring via a slider. There is a Sound Profile app that'll cost you about $7.
3. You cannot use any apps outside the Apple App store unless you "jailbreak" it. Jailbreaking will void your warranty. We all already know Blackberry is open to all outside apps.
4. Home screen does not "flip" when turned to landscape. May be an app for that.
5. Scary to think what happens to this phone when the battery actually dies, since you can't replace it (not a reason to totally ditch the phone but worth noting).
A few things that were pretty sweet on the Iphone........
1. Safari. Very nice and extremely user friendly. Was very fast but I don't have anything to compare it with since my Blackberry could not use the 3G network. Hopefully RIMs new browser will be up to par.
2. A trillion apps..........Nuff said........It'll be quite awhile for Blackberry to catch up in that department. But my guess it that 95% of Apples apps are pretty useless.
3. No clicking. This is bitter/sweet for me. For typing, clicking is a MUST for me and I missed it dearly. But for larger "depressions" like icons and such where mistakes are minimal due to the fact of the larger area to push on, a simple tap on the screen was very nice. I wish a "tap not click" was an option on the Blackberry, as I would be tapping icons and clicking text.
