Feb 26, 2010Lets say my phone is set to turn off at 9PM. If I turn it back on between 9:01 and say, midnight, will it turn itself off when I've stopped using it for some prescribed time, or will I have to manually turn it off myself If I want it "off" for the remainder of the night?

Mar 18, 2010I have just switched back to Verizon from AT&T and decided to ditch my iPhone for a BlackBerry.
I picked up a Storm 2 and have had it now for about a week or so. This is my first BlackBerry. One thing I question about it though is that it has randomly rebooted twice, once while it was sitting on a table and once while in my pocket.
Now I've searched the forums and I have seen mixed reviews on this. Some say that defective phones do this and others say that it is an OS bug and that it will affect all of them.
I never shut it off to charge and usually try to not over cycle the battery between charges. Should I be concerned or is this a common thing for BlackBerrys?

Sep 3, 2010I know there are other threads on this topic, especially regarding the Storm series of phones, but not anything from this year. So what's the update with this issue? It used to only rear its ugly head in landscape mode on my phone; now it auto dims (yes, with auto dimming turned off in my options) regardless of screen position or time of day outside. It's so bad now that it will auto dim and then brighten again like twice a minute. Really annoying when I'm web browsing or watching a video.

Mar 19, 2010I was looking in my backups in Desktop Manager and noticed a file called CustomWordsCollection. I suspect this is the SureType "learning" dictionary. I want to wipe it out and start over.So I loaded this up in advanced and selected the line and clicked "clear". But it won't clear. So then I thought I might try to find an earlier back up with only a few words (my current one has 200+) and overwrite the existing one. So I found one with 37 records. I double arrow clicked to move the older backup from the left to the right, and it ADDED those words. I can't figure out how to just wipe out the existing 200+ customwordscollection. I thought I was supposed to be able to clear these and it would basically "delete" the number to 0. Am I doing something wrong or misunderstanding the functionality? Please help. I'm pretty confident this is the file that needs to be wiped out to get me to a start over place.

Apr 11, 2010Probably the most frustrating thing on my Storm is the predictive text. Most times it is helpful. Sometimes, it makes we want to hurl the phone through a window. Is there any way to edit what comes up? When I type "You" I get "Ypu" or "Tou". When I type "sorry" I get "apert". Any way to edit what comes up when you type words that are this common?

I was texting back/forth with a friend the other day and it was taking about 20 mins or so to get a reply.I noticed my 'delivery report' was between 5-10 mins to get the D for delivered.I started sending the times I was sending the messages and ask when they were received, which they were received right away however I would get the reply about 15 minutes later.Is there a known issue with text delay?

Apr 9, 2010I recently installed the new OS (.607) for the Storm 2 9550 (Verizon) using DM. Everything seemed to go over well; didn't backup my contacts and lost BBM contacts (i didn't think to back them up, Whoops :x ) Anyway, i had SMS alert tones for specific contacts which i had edited while adding the contacts when i first got the phone, back in October/November. When a said person texted/called, the tone that i assigned worked like a charm. Fast Forward to a few days ago (whenever .607 was officially released), i was re-adding my contacts (thank god i still have my old LG Dare), and putting in the custom tones for the specific people like i had before (the ringtones are saved on my 16gig memory card) and i noticed that when one of them called, the tone works as it should. However, when i get a SMS from them, it plays the default SMS tone (which is also custom). The same thing happens with MMS messages as well. Any ideas as to why the default tone plays instead of the custom one i specified? (I tried taking out the "-" in the phone #, since when i enter them in my contacts, i enter the number like so: (XXX)XXX-XXXX) but when i do that, the SMS shows up in my BBM chats with the BBM alert (was a suggestion i found while Googling the issue).

Mar 12, 2010I just got the storm 2 and there are two things that annoy me, one is the enter button sends my text messages and on my curve that button made a new paragraph. My question is how do you drop down a line (make a new paragraph) when texting on the storm 2?I understand the OS 5.0.32 doesn't have the feature to turn off the enter button from sending, hope verizon releases an os update soon.

Jul 21, 2010Didn't know where else to put this, since Idk if it's a 9550 only thing or all BB's, but when I receive a text message I like to know when I received it, or how long ago. But whenever I tap the received message it always says received one minute ago, unless it was on an earlier date. But, if I get a text at 8am and check it at noon, then tap on it, it says received one minute ago. Any way to fix this?

Mar 19, 2010I have scrolled through the forums reading about both these phones and i have a few questions
1.What i am still unsure of is which phone is better suited to Canadian phone companies neither will get 3g coverage but will one work better than the other like will they both get 2.5g coverage?
2. Also i have read that possibly the 9520 will be comin to rogers but i havnt heard anything recent on it does anyone have news on a release date or anything?
3. Right now i am thinkin of buyin the storm 9550 from telus and either goin with fido or terminate my contract with them and stay with telus or move to rogers. Is there a company that is better suited to the storm 2 or will either giv me 2.5g?

Feb 13, 2010To erase the entire field of text you are typing, do any of the following
-Hold down the backspace button
-Hit the bb menu->clear field
-Take advantage of the multi click by pressing the Capitalize button and hitting backspace
Pulled this from tips and tricks.
Tried this and had no luck, anybody have any ideas on how to get this working properly currently on the .428 s/w....

Sep 6, 2010Help/Advice is needed ASAP!I'm leaving for Switzerland in less than 10 hours and I needed to find a way to keep in contact with my family here in the U.S. for relatively cheap. Well I bought a plan with Skype (since I have Skype mobile on my storm) where I can make international calls for reasonable rates. Now I am afraid that my friends may call/text my phone while I'm overseas NOT using skype and rack up my Verizon bill. Is there anyway at all that I can block calls and texts from coming to my phone but not interfere with my skype mobile?Also has anyone used Skype mobile overseas? Does it work well?
