BB Storm :: Perform Remote Security Wipe?
Sep 2, 2012
I have misplaced my BB 9550 and have informed my network provider who have blocked it and made phone un-usable in the UK. I still want to wipe off all data - pictures, contacts, messages, emails, the whole lot remotely.

I just bought a Storm, second hand, and the Security Wipe had been performed. Everything works great, except I cannot get it to recognize my email settings. I have set up several phones in the past without any problems, and am using the same settings I have always used, yet it will not recognize them. Is this due to the Wipe that was performed?

I did a security wipe three days ago and the phone is stuck in this loop. The phone has been in this state for 2 days solid plugged in to the charger. What can I do to get this phone to reboot properly? Is there another reset besides removing the battery?

I bought an E72 some days ago, so my E71 it's free to do some tests.I always wanted to test the "Remote Wipe". According with some web pages (I didn't verified thru specs), E71 has a "Remote Wipe" feature. It works by remote locking and after that, trying 5 passwords, with no luck.I tested, and E71 only says "Too many retries, the phone will be unlocked in 5 minutes" or something like that (the message is in Spanish, so the real English message vary). But, after trying with too many passwords, the phone does not self-wipe.So This feature is for real? Or is just a web hoax?

My 3GS was stolen this morning so I set up a Remote Wipe using Find My iPhone. Turns out a neighborhood kid stole it and, luckily, his parents brought it back to me. As soon as I turned it on, the Remote Wipe started. Now, it's stuck on the Apple logo and isn't responding (won't reboot, iTunes doesn't see it, won't go into DFU mode). The Remote Wipe didn't complete.I am *NOT* a thief! This really happened. I have a good reputation on a couple other forums where I post more often and I can post a photo of my purchase receipt from June 2009 if someone tells me how. don't have Edge or 3G data service. I use my 3GS over Wifi. I thought this might be the problem, but the instructions to start remote wipe came to the phone over Wifi, so it should be able to continue over wifi.
Q: Has anyone experienced this type or problem or heard about it?
Q: Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
PHONE INFOS: 3GS, 3.0.1, jb with RedSn0w, not unlocked WHAT HAPPENED
- remote wipe initiated
- screen went black
- Apple logo appeared
- empty white progress bar box appeared under Apple logo, but no progress bar started or went accross it
- white progress bar box disappeared
- spin wheel appeared superimposed over Apple logo, but did not spin
CURRENT STATUS
- for the past 4 hours, the steps above keep repeating, minus the empty progress box
- every few minutes it starts over again with the black screen
- 3 seconds later, the Apple logo pops up
- about a minute later the spin wheel shows up on top of the Apple logo and doesn't spin
- after a while the screen flashes black again and this process repeats

Got my iPhone stolen. The person turned it off right away. So far it has been offline. I have been sending messages and locking commends through iCloud.com, but have not chosen the remote wipe option yet.
Is it possible for a stolen iPhone be identified after restore? An iPhone has a series number, I assume iTunes would be able to identify this number somehow. Can anything be done on this front?

The sales literature for the RAZR MAXX HD promised the inclusion of "government-grade encryption" and a "remote wipe application" that would allow me to locate and remotely wipe the device.I was able to encrypt the phone under Android's Security settings menu, but I do not see any application or setting to enable remote wipe. Similarly, when I sign into Motorola's online customer portal, I do not see any options for locating or wiping the device. Finally, when I attempt to sign in at [URL], I get a response saying that no devices are associated with my account.how to access Motorola's "remote wipe" application as described in the product literature (as well as the "government-grade encryption", if different than Android's native encryption).

The Droid Razr (and by associatation Droid Razr Maxx) are vunerable to the recently discovered "Remote Wipe" hack. I was wondering if a quick software patch was in the works to resolve this issue, or should I be installing a non-stock dialer to protect myself in the long term?

i am just testing this on the domain and i have cofngured my ipad and iphone to download emails from the exchange. I have also installed the MobileAdmin plugin as we have exchange 2003. When i get into the website i can find my devices assinged to my account and i have started a wipe which i am told has been accepted by the device. Now my iPad has a black screen and a busy icon (circle of lines) as if it's doing something, but it's been going for 30minutes so far. How long does it take roughly (iPad2 16gb) Also is there anyway to stop a user from Jailbreaking there company owned iPad apart from contracts and disclaimers etc...

I haven't been able to find any information about how remote wipe functionality works on this phone. Is it only available through third-party apps or if you use Exhange and Activesync or is there some ability to do it out of the box.

Despite performing a security wipe I am still experiencing constant freezing of my phone, especially with the calendar. I suspect it may be an application that is causing the issue. During backup and restore I didn't delete any applications.

I decided to back up my data because I wanted to security wipe my phone and just restore the really important files I have. I security-wiped my phone just now because it's lagging a lot and I'm trying to set up my BBM. It's leading me nowhere but a message saying "Associating BBM with your Blackberry ID". It's been at it for hours and I'm really frustrated that I regret wiping it.

I did a security wipe on my Blackberry Bold 9900. I have managed to restore everything, however I cannot seem to set up my email address (which is a Yahoo address). I keep getting the error message that it has not been possible to connect to the server.
I have also foun a problem with my BBM, I am able to send messages, but no one can send any to me. This problem has also come about after the security wipe.

Much to my absolute horror, my 9-year old son handed me my phone with the message 'Wiping' on the screen with a progress bar - Daddy what is this? Oh my God!!! All of my Contacts were permanently lost and I had to set up my phone from scratch again - out of box. I'm guessing it's because he tried to guess my password again. The last time he tried to guess my password about 6 months ago, the phone did not Wipe itself out. Why it would wipe itself out is totally ridiculous. If a would-be thief actually somehow guessed my password, he deserves to have my Contacts, as I choose a password that cannot be guessed. It's up to the user how secure they want their phone by choosing a password of a certain level. It's not up to RIM to choose DEFCON 1 as soon as someone exceeds the number of retries set. It makes me want to get rid of my Blackberry altogether and get a phone that has a more reasonable security measures sequence of events. At the very least, there should be some kind of warning on the screen upon enabling the 'Password Lock' feature that states, 'the phone will be wiped if the number of retries is exceeded, it is highly recommended to Backup your Data using the Blackberry Manager PC software, in order to allow your phone to be quickly configured back to the state of when you backed it up, in the event a security wipe is activated'. I learned later that this was in the manual, but who actually reads the manual? I don't even know where my manual is. If I had known this, I would have most definitely backed it up. I think that since I'm basically starting from scratch, I may as well get another phone, but not one that has this ridiculous feature like Blackberry's.

I've had my blackberry for about 10 months and had no previous problems however all of a sudden it has started rebooting randomly on its own. I have read through forums etcetc and done resets and a security wipe and still the problem persists, unbelievably irritating as it is about the 9th time today it has rebooted on its own.

Does it do the same thing as say, jlcmdr? Upgrades would be a lot easier if I could do half the work on the phone itself.

After erasing all the contents, my phone's screen just turned white without any error message.
Even after performing a hard reset, my phone still turns white.
how can I restore my phone back?

My company had a planned upgrade of our system. I had to wipe my phone and reactivate as a result. Before I did I downloaded Blackberry desktop and backed up my phone. When I went to restore there were two options a complete restore that would put everything back to how it was and a custom restore. I think I can't choose the complete restore since that would remove the company's intended changes changes. If I choose custom restore the password file is grayed out. A note at the bottom tells me the grayed out items are read only data types and cannot be restored. Does anyone know how to restore my data.

Before I start, I want you to know a few things about me. I am an IT Professional with lots of experience so please note that I am not a novince when replying to this message. I have the following certifications:Microsoft Certified IT Professional (Windows 7, Server 2008, Exchange 2007)Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA),MCDST, MCSE, Network +, Security + That said, my loyal Bold 9650 keeps hanging. I first went to 'Options' and did security wipe after backing it up. the same issue persist. I did this again for like four times but still the same thing. Then I proceeded and used BBSAK to do a complete device wipe and the problem persists. Usually the phone behaves well after the OS is installed but shortly after then, the same problem surfaces again even before connecting my BIS data. The OS installed on it is 6.0 Bundle 3084 (v6.0.0.719, Platform 4.4.0.560)

If an user loses his device and the password is entered wrong 10 times the device wipes itself and the password will be erased too so the phone could be used like new.
Is there any way to prevent security wipe from deleting the device password? Is there any way to disable security wipe? (Maybe finding and deleting the .cod file)
2 days ago my friend brought his 9700 for me to upgrade OS. I used security wipe, then tried using BBSAK to wipe the OS and it asked for password. Then I used AppLoder to install the new OS and it asked for password again.
Why didn't security wipe delete the device password this time?

I needed to do a security wipe on my phone, I wanted it back to factory settings, like right out of the box. I was running OS 5.0.0.419, and went to Options > Security > and used the Security Wipe option. I chose to wipe contacts, emails, and device data. I did not choose to wipe the media/sd card though. Only device memory was to be wiped.I see the "Erasing information... Warning: Do not pull the battery out until erasing is complete" message, but it has been going on for about 2 hours now. Should it be taking this long?
I see the hourglass spinning, then it disappears, then in a bit comes back...I read online that it normally takes about an hour to do this, but I'm going on 2 hours now and it's still isn't finished. What would happen if I removed the battery while it's in the middle of this? I can't tell if it's frozen up or not, I've never seen it take this long to do a wipe.
