BB Bold 9000 :: Anyone Used Security Wipe Option?

Jan 3, 2010

Does it do the same thing as say, jlcmdr? Upgrades would be a lot easier if I could do half the work on the phone itself.

Before I start, I want you to know a few things about me. I am an IT Professional with lots of experience so please note that I am not a novince when replying to this message. I have the following certifications:Microsoft Certified IT Professional (Windows 7, Server 2008, Exchange 2007)Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA),MCDST, MCSE, Network +, Security + That said, my loyal Bold 9650 keeps hanging. I first went to 'Options' and did security wipe after backing it up. the same issue persist. I did this again for like four times but still the same thing. Then I proceeded and used BBSAK to do a complete device wipe and the problem persists. Usually the phone behaves well after the OS is installed but shortly after then, the same problem surfaces again even before connecting my BIS data. The OS installed on it is 6.0 Bundle 3084 (v6.0.0.719, Platform

BB Bold :: 9790 - Lost Some Options After Security Wipe

Aug 14, 2012

I've accidentally wiped my brand new Bold 9790 by a mistake after 10 times password try.It seems that I have lost lots of things on it which I cannot remember all of them, but at least I can remember I had "Advanced system setting" or something like that, and "BlackBerry Device Analyzer" and as far as I know two different part for checking Battery status. What should I do to or what I have to do to restore them or to get these back? I also wonder where I can see what I had at the beginning in all tabs and menus and in each part?

BB Bold 9000 :: BBSAK Wipe / Still Low Memory

Jul 12, 2010

was hoping I could live with this issue until 9700 hits the UK, but now seeing as its probably going to be 2011 before this happens, I need some help with my current 9000.It's on OS and has 12452390 bytes (is that about 12MB?) file free. The main problem is, the phone is barely saving a week's worth of phone calls/emails/texts and I really need them all to be saved for at least a month. I'm a guitar teacher and I check what the craic is with my sutdents by going to their text number and reading back on the message history. But now, a week later and everyone's text logs are blank. I remember for the longest time, I could go back to the first message I ever sent, and I must have had about 10 apps installed. Now I only have GMaps, Viigo, Facebook, Google Sync and IM+, what I would consider essential to my daily workflow. I've tried MaxMem to clear memory, and that's after using that swiss army knife thing to brick the device first to make sure I really cleared the memory. All the tweaks I've read on this site were done as well. This is starting to get pretty frustrating, don't want to see that low memory screen every day, begging me to delete apps!

BB Bold 9000 :: Exact Pin Number 4 Digit Security

Feb 26, 2010

Well as the title says, I think someone has my exact PIN number. Not the 4 digit security PIN, the "unique" handheld code for BlackBerry's. I found it odd one day when my bbm friends were saying I was asking them "Who are you?".

And when my friends asked who "I" was, he said Thomas, which is not my name! I checked my own PIN, and the PIN of Thomas, it's the same! I never had this problem before. Could it be that just in a billionth of a chance that RIM had made 2 BlackBerry's with the same PIN? his BlackBerry and turns out it's the same as mine.

BB Torch :: How To Disable Security Wipe

Oct 11, 2011

Much to my absolute horror, my 9-year old son handed me my phone with the message 'Wiping' on the screen with a progress bar - Daddy what is this? Oh my God!!! All of my Contacts were permanently lost and I had to set up my phone from scratch again - out of box. I'm guessing it's because he tried to guess my password again. The last time he tried to guess my password about 6 months ago, the phone did not Wipe itself out. Why it would wipe itself out is totally ridiculous. If a would-be thief actually somehow guessed my password, he deserves to have my Contacts, as I choose a password that cannot be guessed. It's up to the user how secure they want their phone by choosing a password of a certain level. It's not up to RIM to choose DEFCON 1 as soon as someone exceeds the number of retries set. It makes me want to get rid of my Blackberry altogether and get a phone that has a more reasonable security measures sequence of events. At the very least, there should be some kind of warning on the screen upon enabling the 'Password Lock' feature that states, 'the phone will be wiped if the number of retries is exceeded, it is highly recommended to Backup your Data using the Blackberry Manager PC software, in order to allow your phone to be quickly configured back to the state of when you backed it up, in the event a security wipe is activated'. I learned later that this was in the manual, but who actually reads the manual? I don't even know where my manual is. If I had known this, I would have most definitely backed it up. I think that since I'm basically starting from scratch, I may as well get another phone, but not one that has this ridiculous feature like Blackberry's.

The wizard only comes up with the "BlackBerry Enterprise Server" option.I've tried registering with the Host Routing Table but that doesn't help matters.I've also installed the Desktop software and tried updating its software to no effect. Anyone have another idea of what I can do to get email on my email-centric smartphone? It's killing me!

When I went to restore there were two options a complete restore that would put everything back to how it was and a custom restore. I think I can't choose the complete restore since that would remove the company's intended changes changes. If I choose custom restore the password file is grayed out. A note at the bottom tells me the grayed out items are read only data types and cannot be restored. Does anyone know how to restore my data.

BlackBerry :: Preventing Phone Use After Security Wipe

Jul 17, 2011

If an user loses his device and the password is entered wrong 10 times the device wipes itself and the password will be erased too so the phone could be used like new.

Is there any way to prevent security wipe from deleting the device password? Is there any way to disable security wipe? (Maybe finding and deleting the .cod file)

2 days ago my friend brought his 9700 for me to upgrade OS. I used security wipe, then tried using BBSAK to wipe the OS and it asked for password. Then I used AppLoder to install the new OS and it asked for password again.

Why didn't security wipe delete the device password this time?
