I cant change or set the ring tones and alerts on my phone. I go to Sounds scroll to Set ring tones/Alerts, click on but nothing happens. It just sits there with Set ring tones/Alerts highlighted but doing nothing? It used to work ok and I have used it to change and set ring tones in the past but now nothing happens. It never moves from that screen. Any ideas you clever clogs out there?

I have been trying to set custom ring tones for certain callers. I have tried changing the ring tone by going to Contacts, selecting the contact, and changing the ringtone listed under Custom Ring Tones/Alerts for the contact. My Sound and Alert Profile is set to normal. I have also tried going to Sound and Alert Profile and clicking on Change Sounds and Alerts. From there I have selected Sounds for Contacts and tried to Add Contact Alert. After doing this my phone still rings with the ring tone for the Normal Profile. How can I ensure that the ringtone for the custom alert comes up for these contacts?

I pulled the battery after I had no idea what else to do and the ringtones/notifications worked again. However about every 5 or 6 days the same thing happens and I have to pull the battery. I also noticed that when I check the ringtone options whenever the ringtones fail the BB says "invalid ringtone, please choose anther ringtone"could it be that the loudspeaker is loose? It's not busted because it works most of the time and a battery pull seems to solve the issue.Just now I had to pull the battery again to get the ringtones sounding.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently updated to the new OS via desktop manager. Shortly afterwards i have noticed missing calls and messages. The vibrate alert works & the light flashes but no sounds. I have expeirienced a similar but different issue on the last update, where all ringtones and sounds were ereased from the phone, resolution was go back to previous update and re apply update.
After a number of battery out reboots i have unfortunately not had success in correcting the fault. I note that the keypad tones are also gone when attempting to make a call. I have tried playing audio files and have no sound unless i switch to speakerphone, have considered that perhaps the speaker has failed or the issue has disabled the main speaker, guessing the ringer would use this...the phone works fine i.e the speaker next to ear works o.k but no evidence of any audio from the one on the back. In my few hours of exploring and proding the device i have discovered that the mute button seems to not do anything...
Can anyone offer some guidance or suggest a solution. I have trawled the forum a bit and found similar but not same descriptions, have explored all suggestions but have come up short
I've had many smart phones, all of which you can have the email and text alerts be two different sounds. The HTC One M8 is setup just like they are. You select the notification sound in the settings app and that changes the email alert. You then go into the text app and from the settings there you can change the text alert to something else. Simple, except the text sound will not change.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI did the most recent update for May23, 2012 and since I updated the phone I no longer am receiving sounds on alerts or incoming texts. Also when i type on the keyboard, there is no sound. My music works no problem and when I test the ring tones, they all come up on the speaker, but my phone now only vibrates when there's a new text. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I have checked all my settings, reset the phone and everything and still no sound.

I recently bought this phone and I can't put ringtones on it. I cannot open my phone via PC like i did with some previous ones (through removable disk ( x: )) and then just dump some mp3 files (or converted files in some cases) and then I could see them in my phone and just add them as ringtones. Sorry I'm not good with the technical terms. Plz help.
I have also tried buying a ringtone and it sent me a text message with the link, i clicked retrived and it gave me an error on browser page. When you can't even BUY ur ringtones, theres a problem. Help appreciated.

I just got this phone yesterday. I did everything that everyone said, made the thing through ituens, under 40 seconds changed it to a m4r file put it in my tunes tab in itunes, and tabs tunes is checked to sync along with everything else but when i sync it my ringtones aren't anywhere please help!!! i need to put ringtones on my phone! I even unchecked the tunes synced my iphone again then checked the tunes tab again and still nothing?

I am trying to assign one of the built-in ring tones in the General profile, but there are no ringtones available except for "beep" and "Nokia tone" The other tones for IM, email, SMS are available but no ring tones. Probably finger trouble.The volume is at maximum.I only have the standard ring tones.I cannot hear them when a call is received and also not when selecting them from Settings/ Tones/ Ring tone/More/Open gallery/Tones/Ring tones.I can hear the tones through the hands free earphone, both when a call is received and when selecting them .Being able to hear the keypad tones, with the handset not plugged in, I think means the mechanical speaker cutoff is not involved.

Once I had done this I noticed that my selection of ring tones had diminished from the ones previously installed with the new phone.Following the instructions for downloading ring tones (Media File - ringtones - select menu - then select Download Ring Tones) I notice that I do not have the option to Download! Even visiting the BB website it still tells me to follow the same instruction!

First off, when I upgraded it changed all my ring tones which is fine because I remember them all. But now when I go to change them, it only let's me choose music as ring tones. All the standard ones that came with the phone are missing, and those are what I was using. Is anyone else experiencing this problem or know how to fix it? I don't like the ring tones it's using and would really like to change them back to what they were.
