May 26, 2010How am I suppose to get my contacts on my replacement blackberry if the orginal won't turn on at all. Is there any suggestions?

BB Storm :: 9500 - Cracked Screen - Passwords?
Aug 26, 2010I have a BB 9500 and the screen cracked yesterday.My problem is; I cant transfer anything from this handset. Device is password locked. And the SDCard is password/device level protected.When I try switch devices it asks for the password. I enter it and it starts loading, then asks me to "unlock the device" since it is password locked??? The screen is cracked, so how can I unlock the device? Btw I plugged the SDCard to another BB and the new one don't even recognize the card...

Mar 10, 2011Been a Blackberry user since March last year, although I seem to have struck lucky with the particular blackberry I've got - my Storm2 9520 has been a catalogue of problems since the start.Anyway, last night I dropped the phone in my room, and the screen broke. Now, all that can be seen is a bizarre, inky pattern onscreen, obscuring everything bar the very bottom of the view. However, the glass screen itself is undamaged. Whenever I've looked on the internet for fixes, nearly all of them seem to deal with cracked glass screens, but my screen is undamaged - the display and what's showing up onscreen is the problem. Now, I'm not very tech-savvy, so here's my questions for you all:
1) what is the nature of this problem, i.e.. what is actually broken?
2) does my Vodafone warranty likely cover this? I've already sent the phone off once to be fixed, when the screen was not working properly and wouldn't respond properly to my button presses.
3) If no to 2), how easy would it be to affect a fix myself? Would it simply be a case of buying a new screen part and fitting it?

Jul 31, 2010I'm having problem with my storm phone ever since it was dropped in water. I left it to dry for a week. Since then I replaced my battery and the phone came on with the clock and then the screen showed up. and could not do anything. Then the screen went black. Now when I try to recharge it only a green light appears and nothing else. Did I kill my battery and is the phone no longer good or it's just my screen and i can replace it.

Jan 20, 2011Recently, my phone kept turning itself off, and on. At first. it would turn its self off and then turn itself on and the battery would be flat. But if i had credit on it, it would use my credit up?Then after a few times it came up with uncaught exception error 4 or 5, the number would change.But the other day it switched off and 2 days later it has not switched back on, i have it on charge and has been on charge since it happened.

Feb 26, 2010I have had my Storm since it came out. I take great care of it, only update with official revs of the BB OS. I only have a few applications. I turned it on a few days ago and got a white screen that had a JVM error 102. Called VZ tech support and they told me I had a corrupt file in the OS and asked me to unistall and reinstall. I have done this 5 times and still I have a white screen that has reset on it. Even doing a cold boot, nothing changes.

Apr 7, 2010Ever since I've upgrade to the 5.0.x software, even though my spell check and autocomplete are turned off, the software is still correcting my words. If I type: The program sam is made in The software corrects it automatically to: The program Sam is made in Erasing the word and typing again will not work as it will be capitalized. What works is pausing after writing the word sam and then chosing from the popup that allows a choice of sam or Sam.This was not the case in 4.7 . If it is of any importance, I use multitap.

Sep 3, 2010Yesterday i dropped my storm and it shut off completely, no cracks on the screen nothing. I did a battery pull repeatedly and charged it over night, at first the red light would blink whenever i hit the power button and now its completely unresponsive, no red light at all. Jan 20, 2010I get my ringtones from myxer.com and mytinyphone and sites such as that. When I set any of these ringtones i download as my sms alert or phone call ringtone, it just uses the default ringtone. So I checked to see if I saved my ringtone settings. Sure enough I did. So I tried turning my phone off and back on, and my ringtone settings just get reset back to default. When I had my 2 gig microsd in it was doing the same thing, but after a couple days it was using the ringtones I set for it. I just put an 8 gig microsd in and there's no hope.

Sep 2, 2010Sunday night I went to bed with a battery that was at least 80% charged. I had my alarm set to wake me up the next morning. I have no idea if that has anything to do with the battery possibly getting drained. As far as I know, I didn't have any apps running either. Anyway, Monday morning I woke up to a completely dead Storm. I tried plugging it in, but all I got was a red light for about 10 secs, the screen went black & then a white screen with a battery in the middle appeared with a red slash through the battery. I've tried everything from a battery pull to even taking a risk & dropping it on the floor & still nothing. I even went & bought a new battery but that's not the issue either. No matter what I do, I still get the same result. It's not the chargers cause I've tried both my wall charger & USB charger.

Mar 21, 2010When my screen shows two lines of icons at the bottom, and a few assorted smaller icons at the top (not when all the screen is filled with four rows of icons), the icons at the top aren't in any of the documentation I have read. They are:
1. a small, black circle, with an arrow pointed at about 7:30, and a tiny red circle. I got this, it shows an SMS pending to be read.
2. a gold-colored globe (with latitude and longitude lines, that's how I think it's a globe), with a number "1" next to it
3. A blue square with a little white squiggle, and a red circle.What are they? Other than No. 1, I haven't found them in the doc.

Feb 2, 2011ive got a storm and the screen keeps going to faded out. its not the fade screen lock, tried that, also ive rebooted and updated the phones system 3 times now, each time a 30 min session so could anyone figure out what im doing wrong. also removing the sim; removing sim and media card and leaving the battery out.

Sep 12, 2010I wish there was an easy way for me to portray the amount of disdain I have for my Storm at this time, however, that won't do me any good!I'm just looking to get some insight to my problem and whether or not it can be resolved! It would be really unfortunate if I had to replace my lump of a phone as I am a college student that just moved away from home and am in the middle of my two-year contract.My phone is still in operating order minus the faulty touchscreen, it still receives messages, emails, and even phone calls. All the side buttons work, in short, the screen is just dead.I did not drop it nor spill any liquids on it and I've performed a plethora of battery pulls. I'm at a loss!Let me describe the events that occurred before (seemingly) death of my touchscreen. I was at a friends house preparing for a 9/11 5k race when I noticed my battery was running low so I left it in a safe place to quietly run out of steam because I had no need to carry a phone during a race. At this point it was still fully functional. After the race, I check my phone to see if it was out of power yet which it was. I get home later that night and charge it only to rudely surprised by an inoperable screen. I cleaned the screen and did a few battery pulls afterwards in hopes it was only a minor problem to no avail.

I was also in a moderate car crash the day prior so perhaps that may have caused some problems? Externally, my phone is in mint condition. I suppose this just hasn't been my week!

Jan 13, 2010I had a 9500 and I found sometimes when the screen turns black after 30 seconds, it could not be activated again with pressing screen or any bottom you could find on the phone. The screen looks black, but I could find back light is on, and I have software for screen image capture, these images I captured when screen failed showed me that all the functions are working, just the screen seems out of connection with the machine. I searched several times and I found it happens while using 9500, but there is no solution. It's not possible for me to return it back to carrier and I wonder if there is any technical analysis or solution on this. And another question, what would you do when typing letters on the edge of the screen?

Feb 14, 2010i have a blackberry storm 2 with vodafone (in the netherlands) Since having the phone the screen has been freezing. In other words every now and then (atleast once a day) i try to click on a app in the middle of the screen and it reacts as if i am pressing the ESC button....sending me back to the desktop. If after calling i want to end a call i press the red button and it again sends me back to the desktop but the conversation carrys on going (really annoying if you get voice mail...can cost a bomb shell) After a while or after pressing many buttons in the middle it starts to act normally again. So this is the problem...i have tried a battery pull, i have tried leaving the battery out for 3/5 days i have even had the phone and battery in a bag of rice to dry it out (as i heard it might have been damp) all with failiure.
