I have backed up and restored many times, however on this occasion the desktop manager doesn't recognize the file.ABC says it isn't a blackberry file.

View 5 Replies View RelatedJust got this BB from Verizon, everything works fine but when I plug it into my PC the Desktop Manager software is a mess. I'm running Win XP. I've double checked all the USB connections, uninstalled and reinstalled the the BB software and taken the BB battery out and put it back, so it's none of those things. I brought the BB back to Verizon they said "it's working fine, must be a driver or something, duh".
When I plug in the BB and bring up Desktop Manager sometimes the BB is recognized sometimes not. When I try to use the Roxio Media Manager it comes halfway up but the hourglass cursor never goes away and it just sits there thinking for hours. Sometimes I get a pop up saying " First Time Configuration...., it won't let hit any of the choices, I just have the hourglass thinking. I always have to hit Ctl, Alt, Del and call up my task manager to quite the program because the hourglass never turns back into the cursor. I just want to manage my media. This is very frustrating.
Using the stock File Manager app I can see audio files on my Maxx HD's internal storage and also on the SD card. I happen to be looking at ringtone files. If I tap on the filename to play the ringtone, Amazon Cloudplayer pops up and shows all the music files on my SD card. No ringtones can be found. If I back out of Amazon Cloudplayer and use the file manager to try finding and playing ANY audio file on EITHER my SD card or the internal storage I get sent to Amazon Cloudplayer. I then have to use the back button to get back to the file manager icon in the App drawer. Same thing happens if I try to play audio files on my SD card. Amazon Cloud Player pops up. I don't want to use Amazon Cloud Player to play an audio file in SD storage.
If I connect my phone to my PC and navigate to the ringtones on internal storage and click on them they play as per usual (Windows media player). If I use my PC to play audio files on the SD card they play as usual.Why does my phone default to Amazon Cloud Player when I tap on an audio file in File Manager? What is the stock audio file player on the Maxx HD? Why can't I browse to an audio file with the file manager and tap on it and have it play? How do I fix this?
Why is there no File no standardized file manager or explorer concept where you can manage your data on your Micro SD card. Select lots of files and move them into a folder. Rotate mulitple pictures and email mulitiple file easily? Why is this not standardized on all blackberrys

But could see none of them when I went to settings/applications/manage applications.So how on earth can I install a software or application on my phone? View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 9105 and recently downloaded Desktop Manager 6 onto my PC running XL. When running the older DM I was able to use the programme a few times then it stopped recognizing that my phone was connected. I have not managed to connect since upgrading. I have spent many hours in this and other forums trying every reasonable idea. I have removed the version 6 and loaded 5 again, removed 5 and clean installed 6. Checked all the different USB options and drivers. Changed USB cabels and connections. Removed the battery countless times but nothing will get it to connect. Windows and the device manager see the phone and I am able to remove/add files. I also upgraded my Documenyts To Go so that I can sync the docs on my desktop but this also fails to see my phone. Having read most KB's in this regard I am now not sure where to look.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Storm was getting real slow. When I tried to do a backup via DM it kept getting hung up when it got to the Messenger files. So I deleted BBM, always figuring that I can install it again. I did not use BBM all that much anyways. Before I deleted Messenger I would boot at 29mb and it would quickly go down from there. Now I boot at 41mb and it has held steady. I guess I must have had a corrupt BBM file(s) that was messing with my BB. I don't know how big the BBM install is but I doubt it is 10MB.It's not the amount of memory that I boot with that bothers me it is how fast I have been losing it. If I booted at 20mb and it held there pretty steady it would not bother me. It is just the unstableness of the OS that is driving me batty. I haven't been able to load any 3rd party themes on my phone without it bleeding the memory dry in a matter of hours. Google Maps would be a fast drain in just a few minutes. Hopefully this will improve my phones performance in the long run.

In my case, may be, the problem is my Windows Vista is not using the Blackberry USB driver; instead, it uses a standard usb driver. I tried to update it in the Device Manager, by selecting the ones that is found in program FilesCommon FilesResearch In MotionUSB Drivers, but the process always finishes telling me the driver is up to date. The result is, Windows recognices the unit, even if I connect it as a USB unit, and if I connect it for Multimedia sincronization; but BB Desktop Manager does not see it.
I also tried downloading and installing BB USB and Modem drivers from the BB downloads, but that didnīt change anithing.I think this is the source of my problem, because most documents in the knowledge database says I have to see the BB USB driver on de Device Manager.How can I force Windows to use BB USB driver?

Also I can't use the walkman function for files on the card, so I have to keep the phone open to listen to files on the card. The only way I can move files around is by doing it on the computer - which defeats the purpose. If I press options in any mode (I have just found this out as I have only just got this phone) the only menu I get is Shortcuts. Is this my fault or is it the phone?
