I got a message that it's time to update my software on my Curve so I did. Since then, BBM won't open and it says uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException. I've tried turning the phone off, taking out the battery, replacing the battery and turning the phone back on but that doesn't work.

Then i get all messages at on time sometimes up to 6 or 7 messages , i can send them but not receive . Also i get this "uncaught exception : ApplicationRegistry.waitfor(0x9850447e783b0596) timeout " ever since the upgrade also usually after connecting to dtm or removing the battery . It must've happened a couple of times before without the error appearing because a couple of times in the last week when I hit menu I noticed "playing now" was missing, even though I was in the middle of an album. Anyone get this? IDK if I should install the Sprint version over this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA couple of months ago the What's App application required an update. I updated it and ever since my phone has steadily had more and more issues. First, I kept getting this uncaught error message, shortly thereafter the 2 email accounts (both gmail) that I have linked to the account disappeared. The message icon shows that I have messages, but icons not there (I have tried the show all option). At one point the message icon started exponentially adding the number of messages until it got up to over 86,000. When I reboot the phone it goes back down and then steadily increases again. usually though it's more to 400 - 500 rather then tens of thousands. I have been trying to install updates and do a wipe of the BB so that I can start from scratch, unfortunately the application loader is unable to back up data. The desktop manager is unable to connect to the blackberry and indicates that an upgrade is required. I have tried doing the upgrade both directly from the phone and connected to the desktop manager, but nothing seems to work. If I try to upgrade the software directly from the BB, I get to the start download button and when I click, nothing happens. I have removed all applications except bberry app world and one game that I play, Pixelated Plus. Still nothing.

Tried deleting the app,removing battery while the phone was still on and even tried upgrading the OS to 6. But of no avail. Teribbly disappointed that BB has such issues with the most basic requirement of adding and editing contacts.

I used the device switch wizard to switch from a Bold 9700 with OS5 and a fair number of apps installed. I used app world to delete everything that was not a Research in Motion created app, rebooted, then cleanly reinstalled a subset of the 3rd party apps. The error persisted even when only RIM created software was installed.How do I determine which application is throwing this error?
