Got a pearl 8100 here. It just stopped making calls. It rarely does, and if it does, it will drop during the call.I loaded the latest OS on it still the same problem. Tried SIM card in another phone in the same spot and it works. The pearl does get full signal and EDGE. Could this be a hardware problem? The antenna, maybe?
View 13 RepliesI own a blackberry pearl 8130 and recently saw a new icon appear at the top right hand side of my screen. When placing calls, the icon appears. It looks like a rectangle with a line of plus signs going through it diagonally from top left to lower right. That breaks the rectangle up into 2 triangles. One of them is dark blue and the other is black. Has anyone seen this before?The only thing that I have noticed since the icon began to appear is that my alarm no longer works. The volume works for everything else and I can set my alarm. It just never makes a sound when it's supposed to go off. I've already checked to make sure that I've marked AM or PM and I checked to see if it is on tone, so that's not the problem.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy 8220 was working fine and the next morning I didn't have any email which was odd. I called Pioneer, my carrier out of Kingfisher, Ok, and they didn't get back with me. By the end of that day, I hadn't received any calls, which was odd. I was able to text and call out. I took it into a service center the next morning and it didn't work when they called my number so the tech popped the battery out and put it back in and it was totally dead. When we tried to turn it on, only the red light would flash and nothing else. It was sent into my carrier and they tell me they can't fix it, don't know what is wrong. Any ideas because I'm not really happy that my $300 plus phone didn't last 6 months! I had dropped it once when it was about 2 months old but it never had a problem afterward.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi just discovered the Blackberry App World yesterday. I was downloading the new BBM, and my internet connection kept breaking up. Every time the internet failed, my BBM download would fail, and I restarted it. Unfortunately, it seems that all the downloading I did took up all my memory (even though I never completed loaded the application) and now I have no space on my blackberry to try to download the whole version of BBM! Does anyone know how I can delete these 'failed' downloads and get back several MBs of memory?
View 4 Replies View RelatedA year and a half ago when I got my BB Pearl from my employer I set it up to also receive email from my existing personal Comcast account. Just before Christmas, my BB suddenly stopped receiving any emails from that account. I have rebooted the BB multiple times since then, including removing and replacing the battery. That didn't help. Today I finally decided to just delete the Comcast account info from the BB and start over on adding it as an existing account. However when I get to the account password field, the normal keyboard function that swaps letters isn't working, so I can't enter my correct password. For example suppose my password is "spry". What I get is "aoet"--the keyboard won't switch in the alternate letter if I delete and re-type, as it does for every other piece of text I've ever entered on the BB.

That worked fine. However, using Calendar as an example, the next sync tried to delete all calendar entries from some point in 2009 and prior. View 9 Replies View RelatedI own a pearl 8100 which has worked great until recently. I have not been able to make or recieve any calls, or send and recieve any texts. The only thing i have to go on is a flashing blue arrow on the top right hand corner. It usually doesnt come on until i try to make a call which always results in a call fail. Not sure if this is relevant or not, but the phone is unlocked. It was originally from T-mobile, and its currently on ATT's network.Things I've tried.
-Hard reset
-Memory reset
-Turning off the radio signal and back on
-firmware is up to date
I'm not sure what information is necessary to solve the problem, but if you need to know anything just lemme know.
I just bought this phon e brand new unlocked on ebay a couple of days ago. i like the phone and calling is working but i have 2 problems with it:
1. when some people call or text their number shows upa nd not their name
2. some people are not recieving the texts i send them while its working fine with others
I have messages that i am sending and recieving but once i come to school, they all delete for some reason. Once they are all deleted, i send acouple of message but when i check my message log, they are deleted again when i check. I know its not that my memory is full. I just got the phone and i dont have many files so thats not the case. Ive seen one come in because i was staring at my phone and saw i recieved a message butt right away it got deleted along with the messages i had there. i dont no if everytime i roam for a bit they delete or what but it is very strange to me.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Blackberry Pearl 8100, it's started erasing my messages and call logs. When it starts doing it, it will delete messages before I even have a chance to recieve them, or read them. It will also freeze up while loading some applications.I've checked my memory and it says I have 11379836 bytes free. I have a memory card so the only things saved on the phone are the defaults and one picture. The only way to fix the messages thing is to take the battery out for a few minutes but it ends up doing it four or five times within a day.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've had my Pearl 8120 for about a year or so and for the past 8 months or so it's been unexpectedly crashing, not so much at first, but it has gradually got worse to the point where the phone has become practically unusable, crashing almost every 5-10 mins. The crashing can happen at any time, whilst on a call, texting, emailing, web browsing, menu browsing etc.
Here's what happens:
The screen suddenly goes black, and the red light at the top lights up, then the screen lights up and I get a turning hourglass. This will remain on the screen for anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, during which I cannot do anything (turn it off, even taking the battery out doesn't fix it, as it returns to doing it when I put the battery back in). When it's done doing this, my home screen appears, giving me a message reading "Verifying Security Software", a loading bar which loads up to 100%. After this, I can use the phone (until it crashes again!), but it doesn't have the memory of the previous call (in other words, it doesn't show up in my recent call list, nor does it remember who the last person I called was in my address book), and I lose whatever txt/email I was typing. I thought it might be a faulty battery so I bought a brand new battery but still the same problem.
This crashing seems to be entirely random and I know I'm not accidentally pressing anything to cause it. There are days where it happens every few hours, but there are some days where its every 5 mins!My phone seems to have moods!
I feel like throwing my phone against a wall and watching as it smashes into a million pieces does that explain how I feel?
Had the W995 for about a month now and after a week it started playing up. At first it occasionally wouldn't let me make calls and would just come out with 3 beeps and return to the contact list. Then it started to become more frequent until it started to not let me answer any calls. when I press accept call or slide open the phone it just hangs up on the person instead. This is actually starting to make a lot of people angry at me now as they think I am just repeatedly hanging up on them, and I have to spend a good chunk of my day explaining whats going on through text (which works fine). I haven't successfully talked to anyone with my phone for days now, and I know its not a signal issue as I have had full many of the times I have received or made calls.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got my hands on an old Blackberry 8100 (OS4.2.1.96)Sadly, I'm almost certain that this phone won't be able to run 5, but while I was in high school this was my favorite phone and I recently just received one..for free. The phone's trackball doesnt work(clicking the trackball scrolls up), and the volume up doesn't work either. I'm not really going to use the phone as cellular device, but I would rather just have it on my desk as a souvenir...in working condition as a backup.So I've decided to buy a new housing for it, probably fixing the trackball problem, and then this is where I'm not sure. Would the new housing fix the volume bar problem also? Or would I have to actual replace parts on the phone?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI live in Downtown Los Angeles, so reception isn't a problem. I usually always get full bars. However, when talking on long phone calls 20+ minutes with full bars, my phone will just cut off and say call failed. Then I have no reception, then it just comes back.
Is this a iPhone issue or a ATT issue? I have an odd suspicion it's my phone because it occurs so frequently, but Ive had difficulty asking the apple bar to replace my phone just because of reception issues.

I always check how many bars i have and its usually at 4 or 5. sometimes a battery pull fixes this, but other times, the problem is persistent. my old bold 9000 had the same problem, so i'm not sure if it's at&t or blackberries in general.

I'm using Windows Vista.I type text messages and emails in different languages, but the only three of them that came with the phone were English, French, and Spanish. It rejects the spelling of my German words in emails and facebook posts, etc. I don't want to have to add every German word I know manually.I also would like to be able to use the SureType feature in German, but I can't figure out how to add it.
