BB Curve :: 8520 - Shortcut For Locking Keypad Lost After Update
Mar 29, 2011I am using 8520 curve I have set left side to to lock the keypad. When I updated the phone I lost the shortcut for locking the keypad. When I tried setting it up from option/screen/keyboard, I could not find option to set left side key to shortcut.

May 4, 2011I have a BB 8900 and just updated the OS to version 5. My "lock keypad" button on the top left of my device has been broken for a while so I've gotten used to locking the keyboard by holding down the * key and unlocking it by hitting * and Send. The problem is that now, when I hold down the * key the keyboard locks but hitting * and Send fails to unlock my device!

Jun 15, 2011I use A BlackBerry Curve 8900 I had to shut down my phone and when I tried to pwer it up the keypad lock was activated . I have tried to unlock it using the lock key and also the * key but both dont work. I have also tried doing a hard reboot ( removing the battery and then turning on the phone. This has not worked either. Is there anywya to bypass the keypad lock and also can the keypad lock be deactivated.

Aug 8, 2010I just got my first blackberry and I'm trying to adjust some of the settings.
1.) Is there an easier way to unlock the phone other than pressing the lock key at the top? I can conveniently lock it by pressing the * key, but is there an alternative for unlocking it? (I can't set it as a convenience key for some reason, it's not showing up as one of the options.)
2.) How do I set my alarms to vibrate only? I've selected and adjusted the "Vibrate Only" profile and made everything silent. But my alarms are still making sounds!

(or A + send button)I've tried plenty of different keypad combos, but no luck.Powering down does unlock it. In fact, I usually just power it down, then interupt the power down (by hitting any key), and the keypad is then unlocked. But that's pretty incoonvenient.

May 7, 2010I have a 6300 and when I lock the keypad - pressing joystick then * It locks ok but if it remains locked for a while unlocking it takes a few attempts.It's as if the joystick button needs to be pressed a few times.It is on power saver and sleep mode and when I hit the joystick button there is a darkened screen and I can make out the instruction to hit * but hitting * doesn't unlock it.I then have to hit the joystick button a few times till a brightly lit up screen appears before I can hit * and unlock it.

Dec 7, 2012I recently upgraded my BB to 6.0 bundle 2949 and since then I haven't been able to: 1. Unlock my keypad. I can lock the keypad using the A button or the button on the top left of the phone, but the only way I can unlock the keypad is by restarting the phone. 2. Install application. I use the Blackberry Desktop Software to see what applications I have and the upgrade seems to have uninstalled most applications. But now it won't let me re-install them, which also means that I can't get any applications from App world.

Mar 1, 2010I've had an E72 for a week now, and must say that I find the keypad unlock combination of top-left followed by top-right combination most annoying! the phone continuously unlocks itself while in my pocket, and then starts calling, taking pictures, etc.. If at all, one doesn't assign a shortcut to it, still there's an icon that is shown as default when nothing is assigned.Here's what you do...1. Download the app called vacuum.sis from the web. Try this link...www.mediafire.com/?a01dw4w4azasjmn2. Install the app anywhere in your phone, phone memory, mass memory or memory card.3. Now go to homescreen and press and hold to go into edit mode.4. Tap the desired location for adding the shortcut bar and select it from the list of widgets available.5. Once the shortcut bar is added, tap it and go into the settings for adding the shortcuts to it.6. Now if you want to add only one app in the shortcut bar, select the desired location from one to four and add the app. In the rest of the locations, add the vacuum app.7.
Now close the shortcut and return to home screen. You should see only one shortcut in the shortcut bar. This way you can place any one app at any location on the grid with app.What's actually vacuum app? Its a dummy app which when installed, results in an app which doesn't do anything on installation and has a transparent icon. So an unknowing tap on the shortcut also will do nothing. Tada!
