I recently installed Blackberry Protect on my Curve. Prior to install, my phone never locked and required a password at backlight timeout. Now the phone locks and requires me to input a password to use the phone. I would like to remove this locking requirement without removing Blackberry protect.

I've done a couple of battery pulls and sent my service books but still happening. If I close my browser and re open it it will work again but maybe ten minutes later will happen several times. About a month ago I enabled the password protection option on my phone and now it will freeze about 3-4 times a week when I try to unlock the phone.I haven't pinpointed it exactly, but it seems to happen more frequently when I lock the keyboard by pressing and holding the * key along with the elapsed time for a Security Timeout happening. My screen displays a dialogue box that says "Keypad is locked. Press the Mute button to unlock." I press the Mute button, and a black dialogue box appears behind the 'Keypad is locked." one, and everything freezes. No buttons do anything.The only thing I can do is take the battery out, replace it, and wait 5 minutes for the phone to reboot.The only thing I could think of was to disable the password protection, but now there is a little lock next to the selected 'enable' password option. I am a private user and do not use a company BES. Could it be that synching with Gmail has the same effect as a security policy through a BES? And what could be causing my phone to freeze up so frequently?

also it freezez for a lot.last night it forze for 10 hours straight befor i decided to pull the battery out.i have minimal number of applications running. but still it hangs alot.
I've just recently starting having this issue with my SMS where a particular thread of SMS's gets "locked" up. That is, I'll get a message, but I can't open it. Doesn't matter if I try opening it using the enter key, the trackball, or by using menu then open. The only way I open them is by having to do a battery pull. Has anyone else had this issue?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Curve 8900 has started to lock on it's own. Sometimes it happens when I'm typing an email or text, sometimes it happens when I'm waiting for a browser page to upload. Initially I thought it might be a particular keystroke I was hitting but it has happened when I'm simply holding the device and not typing at all. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have had my BB 8330 for almost a year now, and just recently, it's starting locking up OFTEN. Almost daily. It will lock up if I take a picture sometimes - it takes so long to save it, I have to do a battery pull. It also locks up when I go to my Facebook Application sometimes, and also if I try to SEND a photo to an MMS address, it will lock up then too. I did notice an "uncaught exception - memory full" error message just today - probably because I let the "locking up" run quite a time and didn't pull the battery yet. If this is the problem, what is my fix? Too many pics on the memory card? Too many apps installed? Too many emails in my inbox? I'm completely clueless.
I am frustrated popping my hard case off daily - which is wearing out the "tightness" of my case, and it's pretty hard to get off!
Each time I press the lock button or I hold the A key, the display automatically turns off and the phone is locked. I cannot check the time on the phone or see if I have any new messages without unlocking it, checking, then relocking it again.
This may seem really miniscule but on my old hanset when the phone was locked if you pressed and of the buttons on the keypad the screen would light up, not unlock, and i could check the time or whatever.
My blackberry curve 9330 keeps locking up everytime i go to text or anything i get that clock in the center and it takes forever to do anything, this just started happening today, it was working fast and fine before !!!

I didn't do anything to it but before the speaker would fuzz in and out of call and then it started doing that permanently. Afterwards my phone just started to lock and unlock several times before it ultimately locked me out even after I tried to press the unlock button. I tried pulling out the battery several times and it alleviates the symptoms for about 3 minutes and it goes right back to locking and unlocking again.
I have an old Curve 8520 which I only just recently updated to OS 5. Like the title says, my device "locks up" after a while of not pressing any buttons, even when I'm using the scroll pad. The thing is, I would still be able to scroll around the screen with the scroll pad but will not be able to select anything or type any letters. The phone doesn't totally freeze though as I can "unlock" it by pressing and holding the power button for about a second in which case it goes to the home screen and interrupts whatever I was doing.
I dust discovered pressing and holding ANY button "unlocks" the phone.
I recently upgraded to a new BlackBerry Curve 9320 smartphone in about September 2012. Recently it is acting all faulty. It keeps locking and unlocking itself. The trackpad gets stuck and will not scroll but then will scroll in some apps or menus. Is it a software or hardware fault? What can I do to sort it out?

I recently upgraded my BB to the newest software available 5.0.0.1030, and in doing so lost a little bit of functionality. Mainly, I used the "Left" Shortcut Key on my Curve to "lock" the keypad. Also, when I wanted to unlock the keypad, I could hit any key on the keyboard, then hit star and send to unlock it.
Since the update, I've noticed that there's no way to bind the left shortcut key to locking the keyboard - it doesn't exist anymore. While I can still lock it by pushing and holding A, the left-shortcut-button was instant.
Next, I also notice that to unlock it, I now have to push the mute button the top of the phone. Since my phone is placed in my pocket, I've actually (several times over the last week) inadvertently hit the mute button by mistake, releasing the keypad and actually pocket dialing someone!
I tried to revert to the old operating system using my BB desktop software, which is the 5.0.0.654, but the keypad lock/unlock seems to remain unchanged.
Is there a way to make it look like the way I opened it up from the box again?
when I unlock my phone I have to press the * key and the green cann button, I was wondering if there's a way to change it so I can press the mute button ontop of my phone to lock and unlock it, I know it sounds weird but I'm used to doing it that way on my old phones.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter doing the upgrade i been having troubles with blank sent messages and not receiving messages for over 4 hours after the sender sent them. Then i get all messages at on time sometimes up to 6 or 7 messages , i can send them but not receive . Also i get this "uncaught exception : ApplicationRegistry.waitfor(0x9850447e783b0596) timeout " ever since the upgrade also usually after connecting to dtm or removing the battery . Service provider told me to go back to the original 4.6 version that the device came with, where do i find the 4.6 software ? Or does anyone have any suggestions to fix the 5.0 version ?

The only options I get are up to five minutes and down to thirty seconds. Setting up my phone for the first time, I'm trying to download a lot of music in Groove. This'll take all night, so I wanted to leave it plugged in, unlocked and downloading.
I did this on my L930 with Win10 on it... But the XL is now showing "Never"

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy new S5 keeps getting its display time out value reset to a value of "()", there is no numeric value between the parenthesis. I switch it back to 15 or 30 and seemingly randomly it gets changed. It happened just now after plugging it in to a charger.
Is there some way to see what changes it? Its getting super annoying, happens 2-3 times a day. I run very few apps... and most of those I ran on my old thunderbolt with no issues. Several I also run on my wifes new S5 but she has no problem with hers.
I got this phone for a relative and it arrived today. After setting it up, transferring contacts over and making it easy for her I'm stuck on this simple option. I've looked for over 30 minutes and searched all over using various keywords but I can't find a single answer. Where do you find the display timeout setting on this phone?! It defaults to something stupidly short like 10 seconds when it should be around 30 seconds at least. How fast do they think people read text messages? If I can't change this setting I don't think they'll want to keep the phone which is a shame as it looks quite nice in general.

I recently purchased a HTC one (4 days ago) and already exchanged the phone once do to a defect in the wifi & now I'm about to change the phone again due to the same issue.
The phone will connect to the internet via wifi, but only work for 5 minutes, then nothing. The phone shows that a wifi signal is still available & that it is connected, but if you try to surf the net or refesh emails/facebook/weather, nothing. A message then appears on the phone stating connection timeout and you have to turn wifi off, then on again, for another 5 mins connection.
So far I've tried..................
1.Different routers, at home/mobile broadband/work/friends - same issue.
2. Contacting HTC and using 'safe mode' whilst they talked to me - same issue.
3. Factory reset - same issue.
4. New phone, changed at a recognised shop - same issue.
Luckily enough I'm within my 7 day phone exchange with my phone provider, so the things going back & exchanging for a different brand...............
On a different note, my wife also got a new phone at the same time, HTC One Mini & this is working ideal.
I've had the G4 since it was launched and until now been very pleased. A couple of days ago it started to turn the screen on by itself every time it timed out or I pressed the lock button... Unless it's plugged into a charger. I've tried pulling the battery and uninstalling any recent apps I'd installed but to no avail. Annoyingly, by the time I got myself to carphone warehouse to get it sorted I was just outside my 28 days.
