Curve 9300 will not use wifi connection instead of network data services. I can connect to wifi networks just fine. The phone searches the networks out, connects, puts the little icon on the home screen to say it's connected to a wifi network. It lists the name of the network up the top. Everything's great, except that when you actually go to use the internet, the phone connects to your data services instead of the wifi and you get charged for data consumption.
If you turn off the network services to try and force the phone to connect to the wifi instead, you get the error message:
"You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication. As a result, the Browser cannot retrieve any web pages.try again when you are in a different location, or contact your service provider if the problem persists."
I purchased a Blackberry Curve 9300 yesterday on pay as you go from Orange. I have activated my new sim card but when I put it in it says I am recieving Orange signal but I cannot make any calls/send any texts or set up my e-mail on there. When I try to do this it says 'Service Unavailable' but yet it lets me go on the internet browser. I have also tried my old Orange sim card in the phone and it's exactly the same.
I recently purchased a Curve 9300 and haven't even had it 1 week. I keep getting a notice saying 'The data service not operational' whenever I try to access Appworld..this occurred after I downloaded and deleted an app I didn't want and after restarting the phone this has happened. I tried removing the battery for 30 seconds and this still has not worked?
Ive been on the phone multiple times with tmobile. we finally got my internet to work through the browser but I am still getting the same error message when i try to set up my email "your BlackBerry internet service account is suspended or deactivated. contact your wireless carrier" andnothing tmobile has done has helped.i have a curve 9300 os6
I unlocked my BlackBerry from Rogers and used my SIM from Virgin. My phone works great but I am unable to send picture messages and turn on my wifi. how I can get these to work?
i have a blackberry curve 9300 3G and it seems that everytime i connect to my home network my blackberry does not connect as if,if i connect my iphone it would connect properly then if i try to connect my blackberry in my cousin"s house it would connect with no problem
I recently bought a curve 9300 but I cannot connect to my home wifi, everytime I try it locates it and shows there is a good signal but I get a message saying "failed to associate with the network".I have entered the WEP key a dozen times with and without spaces so I'm very sure it's not that.I've attempted several battery pop reboots recommended by other forums.Everything else on the phone works fine, I'm receiving emails no problem, I have been using the internet, BBM and facebook fine and I have been downloading apps from the app world.I have also received a message from blackberry saying "your handheld has been registered with the wireless network".
9300 is unable to turn wifi on.She can turn on everything but wifi (even bluetooth). When she checks the box by "wi-fi", the phone loads for a while, and then automatically stops and the box is unchecked. We don't know what it is, soft orhardware
Can't use BBM or Facebook with WIFI but some other apps work. What can the problem be. The phone says my router name at the top.I also pay for the data plan.
Unfortunately it refuses to connect to my wifi. Everytime I try to connect I get a 'Failed to associate with the network' Message.
I've reset both my router and the phone plenty of times, I've checked my WEP passkey (We use WEP as my mum's Vista laptop doesn't seem to want to touch WPA), and well, we have had many devices on the router without issue so I doubt it's that. I've also tried disconnecting some devices from it to make sure the router isn't full up.
Whenever I leave WiFi range, BIS completely cuts out until I turn off and back on the mobile network. How do I fix this issue? It's incredibly annoying. I shouldn't have to turn off WiFi before I leave the house, the phone should just know to switch to mobile data if there's no connection on WiFi.
my curve 9300 won't connect to my home wifi. I've tried every method possible, to no avail. I went to the telus store to ask about it, and a lady who clearly had no idea what she was talking about told me the curve is "just not powerful or high-end enough". I know someone who has a bold 9700 and it connected without a flaw to my home wifi.
I started to ask for help from the forum then solved it my self, so here is the problem AND below, the answer: I am trying to connect my 9300 to my home WiFi network ( LinkSys WRT54GS V4.0 router). The Curve can see my home Network when I scan but the connection brakes immediately, give an error message like it couldn't associate with the network.
I have spent hours waiting for and talking to: Telus: who reviewed my phone setup and told me the problem must be with the cable providerShaw Cable: who told me they had nothing to do with it and it must be a problem with my routerLinkSys: who told me that since my laptop had no problem seeing the internet that it must be my phone.....Then I tried RIM but couldn't find anything of help except (my last hope) the forums, where I found some inspiration and kept lookingMy Black Berry Curve 9300 is set up as follows: Options: Mobile Services > Data Services 'Off' (I don't want to run up big data bills unintentionally with pay-as-you-go data)Options > Advanced > Browser > HotspotUnder Manage Connections:Mobile Network: 'Telus' (has checkmark after),Wi-Fi 'On' (has black box with white line after)Manage Connections > Wi-Fi Options > Active Wi-Fi Connection = None (even after finding & saving my Network profile)Finally, I updated my Router software. It didn't help but I did learned how to back up my settings (Router Software > Administration > Config Management > Backup)
(Settings = all my addresses for the MAC filter etc. & other non default settings I'd made to increase wireless security)
just now bought new BB Curve 9300 and trying to connect with my home network router WRT54GH Linksys Cisco, with my current AES and TKIP settings it get connected, but when m trying to open browser or facebook app it says check your internet settings and not getting open, when i login in to router i can see my smartphone has ip alloted by router but when i look in to smartphone settings there were no ip confiured or not getting ping from phone to router since i had already spend my 10 hours, to get how can i get connected with my wifi internet but till no luck,
My dad had this blackberry (9300) and the wifi didnt work from the start and the he gave the phone to me because he got a new one from his contract, and all this time i was trying to figure out how to turn on the wifi, because when i press the wifi button , it loads for a few seconds and then it turns off, when i press the white box a gray/white tick appears and then it turns back into white box. also when i try to run from the "setup" it sais "the WiFI is radio is off" and "unable to turn WIFI on,"
it did not work from the start, my sister has the same phone (because she got it from our mum) it works fine for her.
My husband's brand new Curve 9300 will not connect to our home WIFI network. Although it picks the network up it will not connect stating "cannot find IP address". The network key is correct, & other Blackberrys in household have connected with no problems
i've made my wifi connection on my Curve 9300 nd I can see the network on the screen but when I want to connect my phone on the Internet with my wifi connection, it's seems the only way is having an abonment which includes data, what's I haven't. Can connect my phone on the by wifi or not ?
i bought few days ago BB Curve 9300 and i realized, that there is no wi-fi option, anywhere. I tried to unlock the phone, connect with the internet by BIS, deleted branding, gained access to engineer menu etc, but even though all those things were done properly, i can't get those options back.
EDIT: My OS: 6.0.0.723 (3106) Phone have been branded in Orange, but i've installed other kind of os.
I am trying to access internet through wifi on Blackberry Curve 9300 phone. I am behind my college LAN. I get this message: Cisco Clean Access Java Applet web client could not be launched. Thereasons for this might include:Java plug-in not installed in your browserJava applet is disabled in your browser's security settingsI get stuck at this point. My family's three BlackBerry were perfectly well connected to my home WiFi using Netgear but suddenly can't get access any more. Why this might be and what I can do about it?
I took a postpaid fee by my wireless provider, to be able to install email account; I'm also connected to my private wifi; my goal is, after this first month, only use my wifi (or other wifi), with my BB 9300; all seems correct; BlackBerry Internet Services is on in wifi, I have Internet, I receive tweets, my email adress is OK... but no emails at all!! Why does I receive all wat I need, with wifi except emails???
Started happening about 2 weeks ago. My girlfriend and I went to 6 flags in Arlington, Tx I left my phone in the glove box of the car so it wouldn't get wet. When we got back to the car I had 3 missed calls but no service. Red X by the antenna logo and something like no network available. When I got home I put it on the charger and got a full charge, turned it on it said searching for network with the same red X. Found nothing so I pulled the battery and SIM. Waited a couple minutes, reloaded and had perfect service. A week later I started dropping calls and can only get service if the phone is hot it seems. Now the only way for me to pick up the t-mobile network is if I'm connected through wifi. Even then there is a huge lag in calls and sending and receiving data. Does anyone know of a way to fix this problem, if a way, or is it possible I fried it by leaving it in the heat?
Testing the new BB 9300 I placed my sim card into the phone. To my surprise my call history appeared on my new phone...to my even bigger surprise when I got home it connected to my home WIFI automatically even though it is Password protected. How this sort of information is getting transferred, I don't think it is my sim and I am slightly concerned it is getting stored on the BES server.
My curve 9300 was working fine connecting to routers and enabling a wifi connection but has now started connecting to router says the connection name at the top but the wifi symbol stays grey. I know this is not a problem with my router as have tried it on different ones in different locations still same result.
when i click on my facebook app it says ' you are currently on a service plan that does not support this application. if you want to use this application, please conact your service provider to upgrade your data plan' but i am on pay monthly and can get onto the internet jus not the facebook app. Also my phone will not connect to any WIFI at all.
I'm sitting at my desk and my wifi router is just a few feet from me. Despite the fact my iPhone 4S is connected, it only shows 3 bars of service. Is there something wrong with the wifi receiver on the phone?
Curve 9300 I have it set to be on for my Home wifi network but i need to turn it off briefly.I cant seem to get that done.So how do I turn off wifi on this phone?
I'm from Mumbai India and use a service provider "Loop Mobile". When I have my data settings on, I am able to perform all the BlackBerry functions, such as BBM, Email, etc. When I turn off data, and am on a Wifi network, I can only use the browser, There is no connection to the BlackBerry service. This problem is with all the people I know on Loop Mobile. With other users on Vodafone or Airtel, only wifi works perfectly fine. Please help! It is very expensive to use data when on International Roaming!
I have a nice shiny new HTC One, but my employers have given me a fairly miserly 1GB of data/month contract and I wanted to ask if its possible to force the phone to only ever use WiFi instead and NOT the 3G service (or do I have to simply turn "data" off in network settings?
