My software for a blackberry curve 9300. I need to update the core applications and the system software but I dont know how to do so. Do I do it by my desktop or device?
View 1 RepliesI have the torch 9800 and whenever I connect it to my computer and use the blackberry software to backup everything and update my apps it always says I need to update the core applications so I just do what it says to do, anyways I'm just wondering if that's normal to have to update the core applications every time I connect it, or is that not normal.

Any ideas on how to free up application memory? I have the usual google mobile suite, facebook, yelp, pandora, bolt applications. Can I move over some media card memory to application memory?
new owner of a curve 9300, so far so good. When I try to download an app -particulary the free scan barcode app, or the free upgrades, I always get the msg 'unable to validate the email address and password combination' now i know your instant reaction will be i've typed something in wrong but I swear i haven't and I havelost count of the number of times I have tried now
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter doing the 9700 OS upgrade ever time i sync the phone it tells me there is a core update to v 5.0.0 but the version i have seems to be higher than this. When i look it says the the prefered version is the lower one. Is there any way of removing this box? I read in a thread that you can delete the version from your PC but i dont know what or where to look.
View 4 Replies View Relatedyesterday i set my storm on the dock to my computer, started up dm. an update on my core applications 5.0 was available so i proceeded with the update. now all of those pushed icons for bing, my verizon, Internet, etc. keep popping up without a reboot! anyone else come across this?before the update i would remove these icons in my service books and they wouldn't pop up until after a reboot. since this latest update the icons pop up every half hour or so. very annoying to say in the least!
i apologize, i know this has been discussed already but this is getting so ridiculous! verizon keeps telling me "there's nothing they can do".is there a way to go back and "un-do" this update? i know we can't permanently delete these pushed icons, only hide them.
I woke up this morning with an icon for the OS 7.1 update. So I started it probably around 7.30am. It is now 14.00pm and the screen hasn't moved from "Back up your device" "Social feeds 0%" and "Overall Backup progress 10%" since about 12pm.Is this normal? How much longer can I expect it to take? I can't do anything with my phone and it is stuck on that screen.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I am hoping to catch on as time goes by. As like many people, this is my first smart phone and it's all so new. LOL I do have an ipod touch, but they are very different set up wise, but at least I'm not completely void of technology. I have had it for only a few days and am pleasantly surprised with how easy it is to understand the "basics," like changing themes, ringtones, setting up email, downloading apps, hiding apps, moving items around the menu, making a call, browsing the web (although I get very annoyed with this as my ipod touch is SO fast- oh well), syncing to my contacts, using the camera, saving pics, playing music etc... For a newb like me, I'm happy to be able to all that! I am very happy with this Curve as my introduction to the BB world! HOWEVER- being this is more machine on a phone than I am used to, I am bit concerned with keeping it uncluttered, maintenance (IE breaking it), etc...
I have the standard 2GB micro sd card that came with it from sprint, but I have a brand new 16GB micro SHDC card I want to put in. I know where it goes, I know I have to remove the battery, etc.My question is: "DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING TO THE PHONE TO PREP IT FOR THIS?" I have looked through the web and found various answers, have learned quickly that Crackberry is the most knowledgeable and the nicest! I have downloaded a few ringtones, but I don't get where they are being stored and how to find out where they are being stored (same goes with themes, pics and wallpapers). I assume they go to my built in phone memory and not my sd card?
Also- since being a mac user, there is not too much I need to do maintenance wise (I have programs that clean up and free space for me, etc.), nor do I have to turn it off often. However, are there certain things I should be doing to this Curve on a daily/weekly basis? I know to close all apps when not using them, as to not drain the battery, and to not have wifi on when not needed, etc... but do I need to shut it off? Am I making sense here? Well, thanks so much you guys are great and fast! I would appreciate a link (if this has already been answered- sorry ) or just a simple answer! I usually ask my husband about this stuff, but I seem to understand more than him! LOL
I have a Curve 9300 with V5.0.0.845 (6.3.0.34 platform), Blackberry App World V2.1.2.19 and BBM V5.0.0. Since BB App World is been telling me there is a new version of BBM (V5.0.3.22), I have tried to update my device with no luck. If I try to update it connecting the phone via wifi or data service, it tells me that BBM is not available for download via BB App World, and if I connect the phone to a pc and try to install it via the pc, it gets me an unknown error.

View 9 Replies View RelatedOk my daughters BB 9300 for some reason deleted all her contacts, and is generally very very slow.So I decided to backup SD bard, and do a wipe and start again.I went into Security>security wipe> delete emails, contacts, media card. it did it stuff, I then connected to my BB desktop on Mac, it connected fine, I then tried to do an update to the OS as it is on OS v6.2647 and there is a newer version, however it keeps saying needs 6Mb data free.The BB desktop says there is 35mb free, what else can I do?

I was thinking, my phone has a "T-Mobile" logo on startup. Im using it in the Philippines, via the Globe network. I downloaded the update for globe, but it didnt work.
