View 4 RepliesIve only had my Curve 8900 for about a year, and I know thats about a decade in techie years but still...I'm incredibly frustrated with the issues I've been having!
Most pressing of these issues is that my phone keeps deleting my SMS even though my memory is NOT low! I've read tons of posts about the same issue but its always resolved by freeing up some memory.
My current memory status:File Free: 90317537
Thus I have 90.31 MB free...yes? Shouldnt that be enough?
Apparently not. I have nothing stored on my blackberry, everything is on the Media Card (4GB) and I only have a couple applications (MSN, Facebook, GTalk) and yet my SMS get deleted regularly unless they are saved on my SIM card and also notifications on facebook are often deleted (those dont matter too much to me but I believe it is resulting from the same thing that is deleting my SMS)
Further, my call logs ARENT being deleted. So I dont think its the same memory problem everyone else seems to have. I will be most most most grateful to anyone who can help me out here or at least point me in the right direction.Im seriously considering shelling out for an iphone even though ive only had my blackberry for a year because I do rely heavily on smartphones and losing SMS is really driving me crazy. Sometimes I cant even read a newly received SMS before its deleted! By the time i pick up my phone its gone...
Ive had other problems as well, not to ramble on but in case they are related:
I will be chatting on bbm for example and it will just exit out of the conversation or the application entirely. Oftentimes it slows down so much that the minute hand or whatever stays and everything freezes until i do a battery pull (which i hate doing but have to at least once a day) This often happens when Im using the browser...Sometimes when I am getting a call the minute hand appears again and I cant answer Oftentimes when this happens it says that I am receiving a call from an unknown number, but when they call back it turns out its a number i have saved...weird...
Sometimes I cannot dial or call (frustrating as hell when i need to make a call urgently!) I have to again do a battery pull to fix the issue. Ive had other issues here and there but nothing really worth mentioning after this long rant so I'll just leave it at that!!
Thanks to whoever has had the patience to read all this and I really do hope I can get some help before I release my frustrations on this piece of junk and end up having to spend tons of money on another brick...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new to this forum and new to blackberry in general. I actually purchased my very first one saturday. I bought it used because I have big hands and did not know how well my fingers would work on the tiny keypad. I have a few questions. Please dont flame me because I have been searching and reading since i got home yesterday afternoon.
1.) This phone is a t-mobile phone and is currently unlocked and works with my AT&T service. Being the engineer that I am- Its hard for me to accept the t-mobile screen that comes up on start-up. Before I call and get my blackberry plan activated on my phone I would like to have all the bugs worked out. I would like to somehow make this phone think its an AT&T phone. I have downloaded crackmem and nuked this phone. I upgraded to the lastest version of AT&T software which is version 4.6, but when i power this phone up it still shows T-mobile. That drives me crazy.
2.) I read how to unlock the different vendor themes on this forum. I tried it and it did not work for me. I entered the vendor id number for AT&T. maybe I should have entered it for t-mobile. Like i said I am new and know dont know very much about these phones.
3.) I also have the OS system 5.0.411 downloaded and ready to install on my phone. I would like to figure out how to resolve the above items before I install in on my phone. I chose the 5.0.411 over the latest software because i like the unlock button on the top of the phone working. Its just convienent for me.
My main concern is I was the t-mobile start up replaced with the AT&T one. I know it can be done but I am a mechanical engineer not a software engineer and it was hard enough to write enough code to get through college, much less reprogram a phone.
Just got myself a BB 8900, however it dosent seem to have any device memory, i have looked under memory in the options menu and it doesnt say anything about device memory and when i connect it to my PC i cannot find the phone on my computer unless i have a memory card pluged in,

I tried clicking applications on the desktop software but it just said "A newer version of Blackberry Desktop Software is required to update the software on your device. Please download an updated version and retry." But when I try to download a newer version it says that I have the latest version already! It's a curve 8530 btw.

After the update the was a GPS program in the "Downloads" folder included. I deleted the program by mistake. It was supposed to give voice turn-by-turn directions to the destination. Here's the problem, I download it and it installs... unless I select "RUN" once its done, I cant use it. If I don't click "RUN" the app is nowhere to be found. Its not in the downloads folder, app folder or anywhere else I can find, although under "ADVANCED OPTIONS" and "APPLICATION" it does appear. Lately (last week or 2) I get the new message icon displayed, but when I open my messages folder the red asterick goes away but the envolpe icon still is there and the count goes up. Currently it says 4 but I do not have any unread emails, nor any unread facebook messages. The only way to 'reset' this is a battrr pull. But then it starts generating again. I just updated 4.6.1.319 hoping this would help but sstill the same problems. If any other info is needed please let me know.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI wanted to find out how I could increase the application memory on my 8900 as much as possible. Right now it only reads about 109 out of the 256 MB. I've tried deleting some of the unused apps and such but even when I do that it only makes about a 1 MB difference.

1) Battery Pull
2) Memory Cleaning
3) Cleaning Cache
4) Delete Event Log
5) Delete Call Log
6) Delete un-necessary messages
7) Delete unwanted applications (games etc)
8) Ensure that only 5 default applications are running in the background
What I would like everyone is to share if there are any other ways to free up further memory in order to make the phone more faster.
I'm trying to access my device memory through mass storage. But when i connect with Mass storage, i can only access the SD-card. This also happens when i go to options -> memory - There i can only see application memory, and media card, but no device memory, like in other phones.
Checking programatically for file:///store/home/user, shows it exists, and i'm able to save files to it. So - How do i get back my device memory ? Any one else experiencing these problems?
My torch is stuck in safe mode and I can't get it out also I noticed that after it entered safe mode that all of my themes are gone except for the pre loaded them. In my app world it says that they are downloaded. I have tried deleting them and re installing them and it still didn't work. And I also can't get my torch out of safe mode no matter how many times I hit reset when the little window pops up on my phone telling me I'm in safe mode. What do I do?

I am trying to move music files from the media card to the device memory. I have accessed Blackberry website and followed the instructions but my menu does not give the option to 'Move'. This is a replacement handset and apparently software etc has been upgraded since I got the previous one 7 months ago. View 2 Replies View RelatedMy name is Ivo and I,m from Bulgaria. I bought Nokia 6303 two months ago. The phone has 20MB memory (inside) and 1GB SD Card. So, may be you know that there are themes for nokia (s40) with .swf calendars and clocks. I,ve downloaded some and put them into the card.
But when I activate a theme the free space in my inside memory decreases. I had 5,5MB free space and when I activated a theme, it became lower (2,4MB). I tried several themes and my free space became 0MB. Now in Memory Status it's written: Telephone Memory: 11MB, Free: 0MB. So, I think that these .swf clocks from the themes are saved in my phone memory, but I cannot delete them, I can't see them. Can anyone tell me how to find them and delete them. Now I can't change my themes. It says: There is no free memory, deleta something!

I don't have that many games (8-10?) and have plenty of memory. This is much less than I had installed on my HTC TB & Droid X and had no issues.
Under App downloaded tab have 731mb used, 1.3G free
Under all tab, 725 mb used, 1.3g free
Under media area 1.6g used, 9.8g free
Under running tab, have 233 mb used, 121mb free
I have a 32g SD card installed as well.
Is it at all possible to replace the four Display Themes preloaded onto the phone with custom themes?
