I've been using this app for months! That is until two days ago when I updated the OS on my 8530. From then on the podcast app 1.0.0.48 has failed to "communicate with the server" when I try the Explore Podcasts feature, and also no longer notifies me (or downloads) new episodes. I rolled back to the previous version of the OS and the problem still exists.

It used to work fine, but yahoo mail changed and they changed the calendar as well. The error that shows up is "Connection to Yahoo Server Failed". Everything from the last good sync is on the phone but nothing new since the yahoo "upgrade". Curve 8530, v5.0.0.1030, Sprint
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have several confounding issues. My new Curve 8530 will not boot. Nothing appears on the screen. The only thing it does is flash the red LED indicator once and then 4 quick consecutive times. In searching the forum, suggestions say to run apploader. However, I get stuck because my device can never be recognized by my computer!I was installing a factory update over the air. I cancelled the download because I thought doing it over Desktop Manager would be much faster. I connected the device via USB (for the first time ever). Drivers were recognized and were being installed. After a while, nothing happened with the device OR the computer. Now I have a brick of a phone that only blinks the LED at me. The device cannot be detected by my computer when I run apploader directly or through Desktop Manager. Yes, I have also tried fiddling with the Connection Options in DM.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to a Bold 9650 with Sprint.I have BES for work, but am using the Internet Browser and can access the internet just fine.I am also able to use Google Maps just fine.When I try to use Blackberry Maps, I just get grey lines (no data downloaded). My GPS appears to work fine, as the app can find satellites and my location it just does not download/draw the maps.When I try a search for either a zip code or a city, I get a message that says "Request to server failed". I have deleted and reinstalled Blackberry Maps without resolution.I have also deleted the Blackberry Maps service book, but that did not resolve the issue either (it reappears after restart, so I assume it has re-downloaded a new service book). I have also contacted my company's IT, and they confirmed that the company does not block Blackberry Maps through the BES. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get my Blackberry Maps to communicate with the server? Could this be an issue with the WiFi or SIM (since Sprint is CDMA)? I have found similar issues online, but none with Sprint and none with a successful resolution.

I tried removing my google account and readding to the phone, but that didnt work either. 2 step verification is not turned on with my account as well.
Apparently all I had to do was click on my email that was on the main screen. Telling it to add an existing probably confused it? But anyways, now Im curious because my google music settings show NO authorized devices. Is my phone not authorized anymore? My old phone was on there, but I deleted it from the list, now no devices are there....I mean, Im listening to music with it, and I can buy songs, so Im confused. Or is it a moot point because I only use a STANDARD account?
Since upgrading, CorporateSync can no longer communicate with our MS Exchange email server at work. I am in I.T., and spent the moring with two co-workers troubleshooting this. We moved the phone into a test area with no policies, then turned on and off each policy, testing connectivity results for each one.The only policy preventing the phone from connecting to the server was, "Password Required". The phone can connect to the server only if a password is not required.

Verify your internet connection and try again (error30637). I am able to get to Google through the internet browser, so I don't understand why I can't get into AppWorld. I have called my provider (Cricket) to make sure I have a plan that includes the Blackberry Browser and have been told yes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded the new OS when I plugged my phone to the computer... it sounded like a good idea to upgrade everything but I do not like how the UNlock function is only through the mute button now. I mean, if I wanted to just lock/unlock my phone that way with the push of only one button, I could use the standby (mute) button and press on it again to unlock it before. I really liked the previous version where you had to take the extra step of pushing two buttons (A and Send) to unlock it. Because I unlock my phone by accident a lot when it's in my purse and I reach for something and accidentally press the top button (mute button). Any ideas if Blackberry is planning on a new OS version soon that would restore the old locking/unlocking system? I do not necessarily want to downgrade to a previous OS version but I might have to as the "easy" one-button only unlocking option is not working for me.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI updated my phone the other day with the v5.0.0.734 OS. It wiped out everything. I had to go back and restore my contacts, reload ringtones and apps, etc. Got everything back the way it was now.
I have three email accounts synced to it. All are active, Wi-fi on, network on. New mail isn't showing up on my handset, only from my gmail account, the hotmails aren't showing up. Used to be you could look in the folder for each email account and see what emails were there, then there was one folder that showed all of them. What am I missing?
I'm thinking about getting an iPhone or iPod touch and want to listen to podcasts. With my current MP3 player/software combination I have a problem dealing with podcasts. So I'm wondering if iTunes+iPod/iPhone can do what I want. This is what I'm looking for:
I want to be able to have a playlist containing all podcasts that I haven't listened to. When a new podcast comes out I want to be able to sync with iTunes and have the new podcast get appended to the playlist. Preferably I should not have to choose which podcasts to append. All new podcasts should just be automatically appended. I don't want to have to make a new playlist everytime I download a new podcast and I don't want to lose my place in the playlist. I just want to sync the podcast and have it show up in my podcast playlist. Once I've listened to a podcast I want it to be deleted and taken off of the playlist. Thus the playlist should just act like a queue where podcasts that have been listened to get deleted and new podcasts get appended. I know that iTunes/iPod has some functionality in dealing with podcasts, but can it do all of this? If not, do you know of any device/software combination that can perhaps non-iPod or software for the iPod touch, something like that? If there's an application which can do this without syncing to iTunes, that would be work too.
I tried switching the firewall **bleep** off but to no avail.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've upgraded from my original OS to 5.0.0.411 (i think) at the start of the year with no problems. Two days ago I attempted the upgrade to .681 which was fine, but I'm not keen on the update as the UMA isn't working properly, so I want to downgrade.
So last night I managed to get back to the original OS 4.? (I was having probs with a straight forward downgrade to another OS5) and tried to upgrade to the Vodafone Italy (I'm on Orange UK) but it wasn't being recognised with the Desktop Blackberry software (vendor file was deleted), although when I went into the upgrade part on the app loader, it did appear there, but with an asterisk saying I had to be registered with Blackberry to be eligible for the upgrade (or something like that). I attempted the upgrade but the software wouldn't allow it.
I removed that software and tried with the Wind release, but again the desk top software didn't recognise it.I tried the .681 release again and the upgrade worked fine
I would really like to go back to a stable OS where the UMA works. Any ideas how to do it with the Vodafone Italy release? Or am I being blocked somehow as I'm registered to Orange UK? If so does anyone have a link to download another earlier release that is stable and not carrier associated?
I updated the OS the other day and now I can not holster the phone or get out of the now playing screen without the music turning off.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi've been noticing some problems with my controls on my keyboard. In fact, I was not able to use the red button, de back button, the q,a,w,s and z buttons either. I decided so to restore my blackberry. But, when I was restoring it, my sister unplugged it and since then, I am not able to do anything with it. It loads (where it's written blackberry with a loading bar) and right after, there is a white screen with error 200 on it. Now, when I replug it into my computer, it says : Blackberry desktop software can't communicate with the phone connected. There is no way I can restore it again or do anything.
