for past few days bb curve started showing gsm insted edge . i checked with other mobiles they are working fine.i switched off and restaterd it .but no use . i wiped all the settings also but it is not changing.

All of a sudden, the envelope is outlined in red and there is a smaller red envelope where the asterick used to be. Even after I read the new emails, the smaller red envelope stays red.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I've had my phone since day 1 and I haven't had any issues at all with it. It's definitely the best phone I've ever owned and I've owned almost all the flagships. However, out of know where my l_e_d flashes red and I cannot find out why. Because there is no app that I have installed that would do that and I don't have any missed calls or something like that . It won't turn off and I restarted my phone, it's really strange.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI got a new Curve 8520 just resently and have a problem with my internet connection. I use my Curve without data plan/bis. To go in the internet I use Opera 5.0 and for Emails logicmail. To connect to the internet, I changed my APN according to my provider setting:
apn: internet (thats for o2 Germany)
No authentification
Username/PW: blank
On the first day, everything worked just fine, Opera aswell as Logicmail. I also had a EDGE symbol in the upper right corner. On the second date I found, that Opera and logicmail would not connect via Wifi. So I started to play around with settings. Anyway, since then Opera and Logicmail refused to connect via EDGE, however Wifi worked.... I could not figure out the ressons, so I tried to undo my setting changes. And yesterday I was finally able to connect via EDGE again. And here is the funny thing: This morning, I got the same errors agian, when trying to connect via EDGE. I did not do anything with the phone last night, it just refuses to connect. It still shows me the edge sign, but opera always tells me, that it is unable to connect. I set the application application permisson for both programs to "prompt" under the point "internet" to see if the phone even tries to connect, but it does not. Wifi still works fine. It seems that my Blackberry forgot about EDGE and always wants to connect via wifi.Can anyone help me out here?
OK out of no where my 8520 started now showing text or notifing me of texts it just shows the little text notification that I have a text.When I go to read it it's not there.I'm not using the default theme.When I switch to the default theme it throws everything off.This phone is brand new I had to get a new curve for a different reason.I'm stuck with this for 2 years.

Recently I notice, every time I leave my office or area with wifi, my network coverage doesn't change to EDGE automatically. Sometimes I get edge, sometimes nothing at all (either "X" or OFF). I've to turn my BB off for few seconds, turn it back on, then I get EDGE. Does anybody know why this happens?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIt's been happening since this today, when I receive a SMS or email the phone rings/vibrates and everything, then when I go to to the SMS&MMS or email icon nothing new is there. Earlier this morning everything was fine, I was sending/receiving texts without any problem. Then I connected my bb to my computer and opened desktop manager, received a SMS while it was plugged in, I tried reading it and saw nothing. That's exactly when I started having this issue. The only unusual thing was that I was running warcraft 3 at the same time but that has nothing to do with the bb. I already tried turning off the phone then turning it back on, did a battery pull using quickpull, did a battery pull physically and it's still the same.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Blackberry 8520. earlier I was using Nokia E 90.I transferred my contacts from Nokia to CSV file and got them coverted to .ipd file using Amber vCard onverter. I restored the .ipd file into my Black berry using Desktop Manager.The software shows 784 contacts and that is same as it was in my E 90.
However when I select contacts in my Blackberry I dont see them. However Desktop manager shows 784 contacts.Please tell how do I see these contacts in my Black berry.
This phone was pasted down to me December last year. Everything was working perfectly until last week. I cant call or text nor can i receive calls or texts. It keeps saying Authorization failure. I know the person didnt steal it becos he had it on T-mobile contract before he passed it on to me but now i use it with a pay as you go T-mobile sim.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a bb curve 8520 on orange, im from the uk and have virgin broadband. i have a dlink wirles router. i can connect to it no problem and get the wifi emblem in white and black showing its connected, i also have my routers name come up so its definatly connected. i have litteraly no signal in my house, either 1 bar or sos, sometimes i will get uma signal, sometimes not, my gf has the same contract and phone as i do, both are orange branded phones and she gets uma signal almost instantly as she steps into the house. why do i not get uma, are my settigns not configured properly? as i really cant send or recieve calls and messages.

Well the new ringtone she set for that profile, is not showing up for all contacts. It is still showing old ringtone! I tried switching but still stays the same. Only way to change is by individualy contacts.

However, in the 'Manage Connections' section, there is only the option to turn on and off my 'mobile network' and 'bluetooth'. I looked up the specs of this phone online and all of the websites claim that the phone comes with wi-fi capabilities and I assume that since this phone was released in late 2009 that it has wi-fi.

All I want to do is upload my photos from the phone to my PC - I have downloaded the most recent Media Sync software and when I connect the BB, 16 photos only come up - there are more than that and these are the old photos that have previously been 'deleted'. The photos which I am viewing on the phone are nowhere to be seen. I have tried to enable USB on the memory menu and I just get these 16 old pictures.I have looked at the device on My Computer, and I can see these blasted 16 photos in the 'pictures' folder in the blackberry folder, but when I open the 'camera album' it is empty.How can this be?I think there may be a ghost in the machine, and I will be finding out soon as the **bleep** thing will be thrown against the wall and stamped on repeatedly!

It often occurs when I'm playing media, using apps and maps. View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm new to blackberry. I purchased a Blackberry Curve 8520 yesterday and I am having some trouble with it.
Problem 1:
New messages wont show up, I have to go into general messages and select "View Folder" > "SMS Inbox"
I have it set to combined simply because I just want all my messages in the main message folder but whenever a new message comes in I have to go into the SMS inbox folder.
Problem 2:
I'm having the same trouble with my email, I keep getting the notification come up for a new email but it is no-where to be found.
Problem 3:
I've set my blackberry to the Vibrate profile, the only time it seems to vibrate is when I get a new facebook notification and thats it.
