I set my connection preference to: Wi-Fi Preferred. Recently I notice, every time I leave my office or area with wifi, my network coverage doesn't change to EDGE automatically. Sometimes I get edge, sometimes nothing at all (either "X" or OFF). I've to turn my BB off for few seconds, turn it back on, then I get EDGE. Does anybody know why this happens?
View 5 Repliesi just got my blackberry a few days back on a plan with vigin media with unlimited internet it was working fine until a few days back where whenever i clicked the browser it would say "there is insufficient network coverage to process your request. please try again." i do not understand why this is happening as it was working a few days back i have tried a few battery pulls but it has still not worked for me. I have even switched my phone on and off and turned all connections of and restored them. I really do not know what to do as i can know longer browse the web or recieve emails. In the top right corner it says "gprs" and even when i have full bars the connection does not work. I have called customer services and they have failed to help me so far any help appreciated..

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy husband got a curve 8530 the other day. All of the people in his address book have "classic ringer" as their custom ring tone along with the volume set about midway like its some kind of default setting. I have tried changing the profiles/ringtones and creating new ones (with different tones) this does not change the ringer for those 80+ people. In the Set Contact Alert menu there are only 3 people with a custom tone showing.The Classic Ring is not loud enough for him to hear and no matter how I try to change the default ringer it does not change the ring for the contact list.I've done a battery pull, no change.Updated it to newest OS.Contact list was imported from a Storm 2(he likes having actual buttons to push).
Am I missing something or 1) shouldn't all those people show up in the Set Contact Alert Menu, if there is a custom tone set up or 2) shouldn't their default change if I change the default for the phone.I haven't checked all of them, but did check at least 10 and regardless of what I do they're still the same. Ringer shows Classic all other options say active profile.Is there any way I can change their default ringer without having to give each one a custom ring--too time consuming?
GPRS is appearing in my top right corner of my phone, isnt this meant to say EDGE? If so how can I sort this problem
View 10 Replies View RelatedI got a new Curve 8520 just resently and have a problem with my internet connection. I use my Curve without data plan/bis. To go in the internet I use Opera 5.0 and for Emails logicmail. To connect to the internet, I changed my APN according to my provider setting:
apn: internet (thats for o2 Germany)
No authentification
Username/PW: blank
On the first day, everything worked just fine, Opera aswell as Logicmail. I also had a EDGE symbol in the upper right corner. On the second date I found, that Opera and logicmail would not connect via Wifi. So I started to play around with settings. Anyway, since then Opera and Logicmail refused to connect via EDGE, however Wifi worked.... I could not figure out the ressons, so I tried to undo my setting changes. And yesterday I was finally able to connect via EDGE again. And here is the funny thing: This morning, I got the same errors agian, when trying to connect via EDGE. I did not do anything with the phone last night, it just refuses to connect. It still shows me the edge sign, but opera always tells me, that it is unable to connect. I set the application application permisson for both programs to "prompt" under the point "internet" to see if the phone even tries to connect, but it does not. Wifi still works fine. It seems that my Blackberry forgot about EDGE and always wants to connect via wifi.Can anyone help me out here?
it keeps on showing SOS even after coming out until I go and manually find and select the network which is already in preffered network list.Why does not it automatically connect to a network which is already in preffered network list when its available.

On the other hand, it connects to any other network: ive successfully connected to many friends wireless and many restaurants' wireless without any problem. Its worth mentioning that my BB used to connect fine with my homes wireless and i just woke up one day to find that it isnt working anymore (the wifi sign remains gray, in the "wifi connections" there is a connection and theres a white line in the black box instead of a tick.Is there any way to fix this?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI had to get a new bb becuase my old one messed up. With my previous plan I did not need the AT&T bb datapackage... I don't need one now. However, with the new phone, AT&T automatically added the BB dataplan. I cant get rid of it, and i dont want to get rid of the phone.
Heres what I did: I put my sim in another non-BB phone, call AT&T and deleted my dataplan. It worked. I then put my sim back into my BB, and a few mins later got a txt msg saying AT&T has added the BB data onto my phone. aaahhh! So, how do I change the IMEI number to my old non-BB phone, so that AT&T can't tell i'm using my BB?
I've been receiving fowarded messages on a day to day basis and it always cuts out after a paragraph or two. Can anybody shed some light onto this problem I've been having. I believe it might be the network I'm on, or is it something else.

I was really impressed with the phone at such a cheap price since I am a teen, the 8520 is perfect for me. But I downloaded a few apps which I can use at home when theres wifi but i cannot use the Twitter, Facebook, UberTwitter apps when not at home (No wifi). Does anyone have the same problems? When i try to log in or connect without Wifi, It does not connect. And on Ubertwitter, The app keeps running but it doesnt connect to gprs/wap. Anyone have the same problems or know how to change the settings so that i can use the apps with GPRS/WAP Please give me your suggestions and/or solutions/help.

Do the same messages from the earth one (which I assume means email) go into the plain envelope one which I think means ALL messages including BB PIN Messages? However now , it also changes her bbm picture and it would not change even if she changes it herself now her bbm picture is stuck as well.I forgot where i went to change this overwrite picture setting...

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had my 8310 formatted lately and got a Ver 4.5.0.182 installed on the same. The PDA works fine and the software seems to work properly. However from the time I have got my phone back, there is no network coverage on the phone. Tried everything in the network connection. Tried manual too but it just does not get any network coverage. I did a wipe handheld to reset it o factory setting. Still the same. Even used different SIM cards to check if that would work.
