I recently went from a 8330 to a 8530 and everything was working great all weekend. However, last night I noticed when I receive an SMS message only the number shows with no names attached. This happened right after I connected to my Blackberry Desktop Manager.
View 6 RepliesMy wife has the 8530 with Verizon. Her contact names have the wrong numbers and vice versa. Some of them have duplicate contacts with different numbers. Verizon has no idea what to do....Any suggestions? Why does this happen??
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had the Curve 8530 for about a week, and I noticed today that the majority of my contact list has disappeared. I started with almost 250 names, now I have about 25. Everything from A-D is gone, and about 75% of everything after that, just random names deleted. Also, when I pull up the contact list, I have to scroll down through a bunch of empty lines before I can see the numbers that are left, like all the deleted contacts are still there, just hidden. But if I search for names that aren't showing up, it doesn't find anything. I've tried a battery pull, and all that happened was the empty spaces in the list disappeared. I really don't want to have to reload my contacts every few days.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI updated my phone the other day with the v5.0.0.734 OS. It wiped out everything. I had to go back and restore my contacts, reload ringtones and apps, etc. Got everything back the way it was now.
I have three email accounts synced to it. All are active, Wi-fi on, network on. New mail isn't showing up on my handset, only from my gmail account, the hotmails aren't showing up. Used to be you could look in the folder for each email account and see what emails were there, then there was one folder that showed all of them. What am I missing?
How can I speed up or adjust the settings so that I can receive my emails quickly. If someone sends me an email it can take up to 15 minutes to receive the email. On my old Rant I received the emails instantly. Is there a 3rd party email that is available. Please help not really wanting to go back to my Rant phone but need phone that will deliver my work emails quick. Work emails are not on any kind of exchange server either. Just simple MS Outlook through our local cable company.

Even when I transferred numbers from my Envy to my Blackberry a lot of the contacts went under "Work" rather than "Mobil".How can I change it so that by default it comes up under mobile (since that's the majority of numbers I add to my contacts)?Also, is there a way to easily switch the classification of a number? Lately I've been just going into the contact and retyping it, but doing that for all of my contacts will be a pain.

View 8 Replies View RelatedIt's been happening since this today, when I receive a SMS or email the phone rings/vibrates and everything, then when I go to to the SMS&MMS or email icon nothing new is there. Earlier this morning everything was fine, I was sending/receiving texts without any problem. Then I connected my bb to my computer and opened desktop manager, received a SMS while it was plugged in, I tried reading it and saw nothing. That's exactly when I started having this issue. The only unusual thing was that I was running warcraft 3 at the same time but that has nothing to do with the bb. I already tried turning off the phone then turning it back on, did a battery pull using quickpull, did a battery pull physically and it's still the same.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a bb curve 8520 on orange, im from the uk and have virgin broadband. i have a dlink wirles router. i can connect to it no problem and get the wifi emblem in white and black showing its connected, i also have my routers name come up so its definatly connected. i have litteraly no signal in my house, either 1 bar or sos, sometimes i will get uma signal, sometimes not, my gf has the same contract and phone as i do, both are orange branded phones and she gets uma signal almost instantly as she steps into the house. why do i not get uma, are my settigns not configured properly? as i really cant send or recieve calls and messages.

Well the new ringtone she set for that profile, is not showing up for all contacts. It is still showing old ringtone! I tried switching but still stays the same. Only way to change is by individualy contacts.

(some for the better but some worse !)anyways to the point. I realized that my picture count has been resetted to IMG00001-xxxxx. Is there anyway i could reset it so that it would continue my original count ?Its a pain finding the pictures as it would be in-between my older pictures with the low counts.

They use to but now when I go to like you tube, or nothingtoxic.com, or even my video recordings it won't play it says an error has occurred media attempt failed. I use to restart my BB and that would help for a lil while now it doesn't work at all. How do I fix this?

All of the people in his address book have "classic ringer" as their custom ring tone along with the volume set about midway like its some kind of default setting. I have tried changing the profiles/ringtones and creating new ones (with different tones) this does not change the ringer for those 80+ people. In the Set Contact Alert menu there are only 3 people with a custom tone showing.The Classic Ring is not loud enough for him to hear and no matter how I try to change the default ringer it does not change the ring for the contact list.I've done a battery pull, no change.Updated it to newest OS.Contact list was imported from a Storm 2(he likes having actual buttons to push).
Am I missing something or 1) shouldn't all those people show up in the Set Contact Alert Menu, if there is a custom tone set up or 2) shouldn't their default change if I change the default for the phone.I haven't checked all of them, but did check at least 10 and regardless of what I do they're still the same. Ringer shows Classic all other options say active profile.Is there any way I can change their default ringer without having to give each one a custom ring--too time consuming?
I had a 8330 (for 2 months) that would reboot itself constantly. Does not do it anymore 'cause I returned it for a 8530. The 8530 that I've had since Jan 01 is better, it only does it now and then when it is tethered to my pc.. Rendering it just about useless for my business activities. US Cellular is at a loss. Should I accept this defect as part of the BB experience?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded the new OS when I plugged my phone to the computer... it sounded like a good idea to upgrade everything but I do not like how the UNlock function is only through the mute button now. I mean, if I wanted to just lock/unlock my phone that way with the push of only one button, I could use the standby (mute) button and press on it again to unlock it before. I really liked the previous version where you had to take the extra step of pushing two buttons (A and Send) to unlock it. Because I unlock my phone by accident a lot when it's in my purse and I reach for something and accidentally press the top button (mute button). Any ideas if Blackberry is planning on a new OS version soon that would restore the old locking/unlocking system? I do not necessarily want to downgrade to a previous OS version but I might have to as the "easy" one-button only unlocking option is not working for me.

I'm gettin sick n tired of this trackball on the 8330, I recently had to fix it cause it would only go up... so onto a new Blackberry! Can anyone give me some input about the 8530? I hear the camera has no flash , is that true? How is that supposed to be an upgrade!? Anything else I should know that's different between the two, aside from the obvious?
