Downloaded OS 5.0.508 and now lock icon is missing. I can hold the A button and put it in what seems to be sleep mode, but my name and info does not show up on the home screen anymore. And you now push the mute button to unlock the keyboard. These are the only changes I have noticed. I liked the other way better.

I just downloaded the new OS when I plugged my phone to the computer... it sounded like a good idea to upgrade everything but I do not like how the UNlock function is only through the mute button now. I mean, if I wanted to just lock/unlock my phone that way with the push of only one button, I could use the standby (mute) button and press on it again to unlock it before. I really liked the previous version where you had to take the extra step of pushing two buttons (A and Send) to unlock it. Because I unlock my phone by accident a lot when it's in my purse and I reach for something and accidentally press the top button (mute button). Any ideas if Blackberry is planning on a new OS version soon that would restore the old locking/unlocking system? I do not necessarily want to downgrade to a previous OS version but I might have to as the "easy" one-button only unlocking option is not working for me.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI know that the lock icon is missing after the new upgrade and you have to push the A* then mute to unlock or set a password and the lock icon will reappear and then one has to enter a password to unlock phone.i get it but i hate it.i like the old way of being able to lock the phone and unlocking.can anyone tell me how to downgrade to old software or find an easy solution for this.is driving me nuts.also my calendar has created a double entry for all of my current appointments.i really hate the new upgrade.thought it was going to be better but haven't seen it yet.

From my previous software, it was named Keyboard Lock and I set it as one of my convenience keys. After the update, I noticed that it no longer existed. A friend of mine purchased a brand new Curve 8520 with the update already installed of course. She had the Keyboard Lock but it was named Password Lock instead. I have been searching for ways to get this feature back to my Blackberry because I feel it is more convenient rather than the "silent/mute mode" button located on the top of my device. View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen i want to lock my Blackberry curve 8530 i just press the A key. But when i want to unlock, the message shows up to press the MUTE botton. I have a plastic case on it, so everytime I go to press the Mute buton, I have to take the case off. Now my fiance has the same exact phone, and when he wants to unlock, the message says to press the A key with the send/call key.

I don't want the keyboard light to turn on when I'm using the device because it wastes battery. And my second and most important question is, why is the battery life so poor? My curve battery get's me through one day, and all I do is SMS, facebook, and IM. I don't use it 24/7 during the day either. I've had to charge it every night! Do I have to give the battery time to be "broken in"?

View 3 Replies View RelatedToday I noticed that when I hit the mute button on the top of my phone that it no longer takes me to my media folder. I thought the button may have broken somehow, however, after locking my phone I hit the button and it unlocked it just fine. So apparently its not broken, it just up and quit taking me to my media.Is there a way to set the mute button as a shortcut again so I don't have to go through the menu button to get to my music, pics etc?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen i talk on the phone the keyboard light fades away; however, the call, blackberry, back, and end buttons all stay on THE WHOLE TIME i talk. I have talked for 30 minutes and it stays on. I have all the settings to as low as they go and i have it to where the lights fade. I just cant seem to figure out if this happens on everybody's phone or its just mine and i need to get it replaced. I have had no other complaints on this phone and the battery lasts a pretty long period of time for me but i know that if this issue gets fixed it would last even longer.

Checked the Help Section and could only find out how to lock or unlock screen manually. Checked the instruction booklet that came with it....again no help. Searched through the BB Curve Demo online - still nothing about adding back the icon. It was so easy just to push that button and not have to worry about the keys in my pocket or purse.....how do i get it back? If I dont want it back I wont install updates any longer because I found I had ro reset things back the way I wanted them to.....moving icons from folders to home screen etc....please tell me there is a way to get this back....just bought this BB in June and first one i have owned and have come to find it difficult to do without..

View 12 Replies View Relatedmy Yahoo Mail icon decided to go missing (again) after I did a battery pull. Normally, I can resend service books once or twice and it'll pop back up. This time, however, no such luck. I've resent services books (around 20 times or more). I've deleted service books all together and then resent them. I've deleted the email all together and readded it. I've tried with another Yahoo address. Nothing is able to bring back my beloved icon. Does anyone else have any ideas as to how to bring it back? I really hate the mail icon with the little globe and I'm pretty sure I'd do whatever it takes to get my Yahoo icon back.

I've looked in the obvious places in Options to try and re-instate the icon but can't seem to see anywhere which allow me to do ths. I've also searched for hidden items but nothing seems to be hidden.
