i have a BB 8520 and i recently updated the os, when i restarted the berry my key board lock was gone. Is there anyway i can get it back or get another one without paying for it?

I just updated my curve today and in the process lost my keyboard lock icon. I've looked in all of my folders and can't find it. It's an important function, so I"m freaking out!
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently took charge of a Blackberry Curve 8520 - I noticed that after I had linked it to my PC via Blackberry Desktop Manager, the icon for the keyboard lock was removed from the menu. I've looked in the obvious places in Options to try and re-instate the icon but can't seem to see anywhere which allow me to do ths. I've also searched for hidden items but nothing seems to be hidden.

Once I put all of the components back in the phone it restarts and brings me to the screen to enter my keyboard password. When I press the keys none of them respond and the screen stays blank and eventually dims away. NO keys word and the scroll pad will only scroll but not select. I am in dire need of a solution-

From my previous software, it was named Keyboard Lock and I set it as one of my convenience keys. After the update, I noticed that it no longer existed. A friend of mine purchased a brand new Curve 8520 with the update already installed of course. She had the Keyboard Lock but it was named Password Lock instead. I have been searching for ways to get this feature back to my Blackberry because I feel it is more convenient rather than the "silent/mute mode" button located on the top of my device. View 2 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded the new OS when I plugged my phone to the computer... it sounded like a good idea to upgrade everything but I do not like how the UNlock function is only through the mute button now. I mean, if I wanted to just lock/unlock my phone that way with the push of only one button, I could use the standby (mute) button and press on it again to unlock it before. I really liked the previous version where you had to take the extra step of pushing two buttons (A and Send) to unlock it. Because I unlock my phone by accident a lot when it's in my purse and I reach for something and accidentally press the top button (mute button). Any ideas if Blackberry is planning on a new OS version soon that would restore the old locking/unlocking system? I do not necessarily want to downgrade to a previous OS version but I might have to as the "easy" one-button only unlocking option is not working for me.

I used to have the keyboard lock function assigned to the left side convenience key. This was really essentail for me to have and now it is not available for me to assign when I try to assign something for the left side convenience key. I know the Tour has the option on the top of the phone to lock it but even when this is pushed, it will still unlock in my bag. How can I restore this option?

I can hold the A button and put it in what seems to be sleep mode, but my name and info does not show up on the home screen anymore. And you now push the mute button to unlock the keyboard. These are the only changes I have noticed. I liked the other way better.

When I hit the download button it takes me to the sign in for BlackBerry ID, then to terms and conditions and then to my ID settings! The only way I can get off this screen is to press Discard, which takes me back to where I started! I just keep going round in circles.

It has been stuck here all day! I called Fido earlier and asked them what to do and they told me to connect to my computer, I have done that and have tried everything and the problem still exists.
Got a Curve 8520 and since updating yesterday, the frame rate when recording video has dropped significantly meaning jerky/jumpy video. It may be worth adding that even when in video camera mode but NOT recording the feed is still jumpy. I can see the difference by watching video I recorded before the update and also by comparing to my wifes phone (exactly the same as mine) which has not had the update yet.

When the Application Loader launches, it only provides me with the option of maintaining my OS and downgrading my OS to the older 4.6.1 version. I have previously used the exact same steps on another Curve 8520 and I had successfully upgraded the OS. After the upgrade was successful on the first phone, only did I try upgrading the second phone. Is there anything I did wrongly the second time around?

View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday I purchased my new BB Curve 8520. I was so happy with it until, I ran some new app and it completly froze. I pulled the battery out. Put it back, turned it on and no results. None of my keys are working. If I press alt or shifts it shows on the right upper corner of the screen that they are being activated, but nothing else happens. I've been trying for hours. I tried the old Alt+shift+Del, I took the sim out, the memory card. I left the phone without battery for an hour but no use. And also my speaker icon shows star insted of curves and my Antenna isn't working either.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got new 8520 to replace 8320. Windows will only recognise it as a Rim Composite Device and cannot find software.
I have an existing 8320 which connects and works perfectly OK on the same laptop.
This is what I have tried so far
1. Unstalled existing Desktop software and reinstalled both with downloaded version and cd provided version
2. Installed USB/modem drivers from Blackberry downloads and tried a manual add
3. Ditto with Microsoft generic rim drivers
This has taken about 8 hours of changes so far all to no avail. The 8320 is fine tho'
I got BB Curve 8520 and try to use the internet browser after enabling the wifi. It always fails with error "Failed to obtain an IP address". I have changed wireless security on my Linksys Router from from 'WPA-2' to 'WPA', Still the problem remains. My Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and iPhone are just working fine. I tried the above with & without simcard inserted. I have a Wi-Fi connection at home & office and want to browse using this and do not want to use BlackBerry Internet Service of my GSM operator.

We had all our contacts in our blackberrys when we left the store, I was even assigning ring tones to certain people already. I downloaded blackberry for facebook later that night and all my contacts were suddenly gone. I've tried to manually put in contacts, click save, and then no contact shows up. There are no filters checked in the contacts so I know it's not that. Any other ideas?

I make sure that the filters were off so its not that.If I go into "options" and go into "contact lists" it has my email address and says that I have "89" entries.But the phone will not display any of my contact entries.
