Jan 8, 2010My new Blackberry curve doesn't recieve calls. I have tried taking the battery out, manually connecting to the orange network and changing profiles.

BB Curve 8500 :: How To Turn Off And Receive Calls?
Jul 21, 2010I just asked a friend to call me online, and he kept getting my voice mail without the phone ringing at all. I tried calling out, and when I did, the phone told me that the "radio mode" was "off," and that it was turning it off. How did I manage to turn off the ability of my phone to send and receive calls? I don't think I did anything like that.

Apr 23, 2010I just bought my 8520 last week and this afternoon I was not able to make and receive calls using my new blackberry. I took out the battery and sim card and waited for about a minute before putting them back in. It seemed to be working this time, but I just wanted to know what has happened to my phone. Can anyone shed some light on it so that I can avoid this problem in future?

Apr 3, 2011 I bought two new blackberry 8520 from ebay from different sellers. One unbranded and unlocked, the other branded and locked to Vodaphone. The unlocked one works fine with my tesco sim, no problems. The branded/locked to Vodaphone one was unlocked this morning with a code I paid for and got off the internet and not through Vodaphone. It now shows the phone is disabled and it recognises the Tesco sim (although still branded), but all calls and messages fail when sent and if I try to ring it it goes straight to voicemail.
Is it the phone or the sim? The phone was an unwanted gift so the seller is not sure if the phone's pin was registered. Tesco have asked vodaphone to release the pin which will happen in the next 24-48 hours but will this make any difference? Some of the forums with the same query as mine seem conflicting, i.e. release the pin to get access to BBM and internet but not a direct problem with calling and texting.

Apr 6, 2012My iPhone doesn't recieve any calls. It calls people but when they answer they can't hear me at all. It tried rebooting but nothing happened. I tried unplugging the sim card but nothing changed. I inserted other sim card and it faced the same problem which means that the problem is from the iPhone not the sim card.

Jul 3, 2012for about 2 weeks i cannot receive incoming phone calls any more. Earlier it worked without problems. Now even in the phone log, no incoming calls are registered. I can make phone calls by myself, i can receive incoming calls by facetime, but no phone calls or sms. The phone is not muted (i tried the button already) . A complete reset of the phone did not change anything.

Motorola Droid Razr :: Doesn't Always Receive Calls
Nov 24, 2011I've been using the phone for about two weeks now. In this time I've gotten a few text messages to the affect of, "I just called, why didn't you answer?" or when I call someone, they comment on how long it took for me to return their call. Piecing the feedback together, it seems that the phone doesn't always receive the call and ring. The person who is placing the call hears a dial tone, etc... and has no indication the call isn't ringing on my end. One time this occured, a voice mail was left and I received the voice mail right away. However, if no voicemail is left, I get no indication a call should have been received (no missed calls). The frequency of occurance is fairly hit and miss, besides, you can't prove someone didn't just call you .
I've experienced this on some other verizon phones of multiple brands (before smart phone times), and tend to think it has something to do with the software interactions between the carrier and platform, or perhaps the quality of antenna and how the software handles marginal signal. In the past, the only remedy I found was to change phones, but software pushes weren't as prevalent in those times.... Note, I've been a verizon customer since the dawn of time, so the carrier is a constant variable here. This phone was an upgrade from the Motorola Droid 1, and I didn't experience this problem (in the same locations) with this phone. For what it's worth, around town and at home I have a full 5 bars of signal strength, though I understand the bars are just a function of software.
I have also experienced some data drop out issues on 3G (patiently waiting for verizon to flip the LTE switch on) when heavily managing the wi-fi radio via the smart actions. There seem to be a few other complaints on the forums of similiar behavior. Changing the smart actions to have the wifi radio enabled most of the time seems to have helped with this issue, so I don't beleive it is related, but you never know..
BB Curve 8500 :: Does Not Receive Emails That Have Been Filtered
Feb 17, 2010My 8520 is set to receive emails from a pop email server. This email server is a Smartermail type that I access via a web browser so that I do not have to worry about syncing emails across computers. I have numerous filters on the Smartermail to ensure clients mail goes into named inboxes. None of those filtered mails are being sent to the blackberry. I only receive the unfiltered emails. This is clearly no good at all as I am missing pver 75% of my emails. I could of course set the Smartermail to forward ALL messages to the blackberry email address but this would create two problems - duplication of mails on the blackberry and replies from the blackberry inbox would carry the blacberry sender address and not my company one. The other alternative would be to remove all filters on smarter mail but this would create a big housekeeping headache with one enormous mailbox.

Apr 26, 2010I am able to send and receive my emails but no sound plays for them I have went though all the sound settings and set every thing the same and waiting for my battery to charge to test it see if that fixes it or not.

Apr 15, 2012My phone doesn't send or receive any SMS or phone calls even with full service bars available. For out going texts, the "sending bar" never completely loads. For some reason, this only happens in my city. I was away in London for the weekend and it worked perfectly fine as soon as I left the vicinity of my city. When I got back to my home, it stopped working again. I don't know if this is a coincidence, or if it just doesn't work.

Aug 26, 2010I have got a used BB8520 as a gift and am currently using. I can see the wifi networks when i use the setup wizard, but after it trie to connect, i get this " - " symbol against my wifi ( in the wifi options). The wifi SSID is recognized and i face this same issue across all the wifi networks i tried to connect. I am currently using the T-mobile prepaid card. I cannot browse the internet and i feel really bad that blackberry has this wonderful device which cannot perform a basic function like wifi connectivity easily.
Kindly help me, as i really need the wifi connectivity. As a student the data plan seems too expensive.

All the contacts in my outlook have the phone numbers in the following format + (country code) - (area code) - xxxx-xxxx. I cannot dial in my new device because I have not been able to set up the dialing mode to automatically recognize this dialing format. Where can I do it?
