I got my first Blackberry ever yesterday. I've been wanting one for years but I finally got it and I cannot set up my email or download any apps. Each time I got to setup the email the only option is 'I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server' But I don't. And I know to download apps you have to download the app world. I did it via the desktop but apparently my phone is compatible?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just dowloaded and installed desktop software 5.13 and am now not getting any email updates on my curve.I did change me email password in Hotmail, but now cannot reconfigure either of Outlook and my device to allow for continued delivery to my device.I hope someone here can point me in the right direction. I've not been able to find anything via Google or even Microsoft.

I set up my personal emails, which are working fine. But, I can't figure out how to set up my VPN settings for an email account on the 8520. Co-workers who have other smartphones(not Berries) and connect.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently received a message telling me that an update was available for App World. I downloaded the update, installed it and rebooted. Now I am unable to download apps. When I hit the download button it takes me to the sign in for BlackBerry ID, then to terms and conditions and then to my ID settings! The only way I can get off this screen is to press Discard, which takes me back to where I started! I just keep going round in circles.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have an ATT 8520 Curve unlocked to work with a tmobile sim card and have a few questions...Now that's unlocked I cant setup an external email account (hotmail, gmail, etc...) that icon is missing from the setup section. how can I get that feature? can I also use the bbm feature? I added a friend (and vice-versa) but it just stays as pending. is it possible to bbm? for the above 2 do i need to get the bb data plan so they can work? I've read elsewhere that the best way to get the features would be to load the tmobile handheld software. I went to tmobiles site, I enter my ph# - select the 8520 - click on handheld and it takes me to their 'shop for phones' page. I guess they now by the number that i dont currently have a bb. So I tried a friends ph# from tmobile who has a bb and it still took me to the 'shop for phones' page. So I Am hoping it's just a link glitch going on right now. I did download from this forum the 5.0 OS "8520wifiM_PBr5.0.0_rel860_PL5.2.0.47_A5.0.0.509_W ind_Hellas.exe" which obviously is not tmobile. What would loading this different OS allow me to do? Or what features will I have available? and I have lowercase 'edge'.

My plan is to wait to get emails until the Berry is conneced to a hotel wi fi system. I assume at that point the berry will collect emails via the wi fi and so carrier charges will not apply.
So for convenience I need to enable/disable emails on the fly
I am trying to 'push' all my email accounts to my Curve 8520 as i have unlimited 'push' email on my price plan. I have serveral different email addresses. One is hotmail (i think i have got this set up ok - except i keep getting repeat deliveries of emails to my outlook inbox?) on is for my own website and another is for a company that i do work for. I don't know much about computers etc so please go easy with me! I have outlook set up to receive all emails - can these be 'pushed' from outlook to BB?

I seem to have gotten everything working on the Curve, except for the email.I had the same email accounts (gmail, hotmail) set up on both phones, but for some reason now that I've switched over to the Curve on the Fido network, I can't send or receive email.I've checked all my settings, and they seem right.I can access the web, my Wi-Fi is set up, and I can send & receive texts. Anyone have any ideas about this email problem? Also, I can't remember my account username for the BB website to access my account online to change the email.When I ask to send my password, it says it has been sent to my BB, but of course I can't receive email, so I'm not getting it.

I restored old settings from a backup re Desktop Manager, but now there are messaging problems. One, my setup folder doesn't have an e-mail setup option. Two, in "Email Reconciliation" option, only chloice I have is to change the e-mail account on "Message Services" drop-down. Related to that, if I'm in "messages," my Options screen lacks "Reconcile Now."

When I went to email setup after, its only giving me the option of using a work account which then asks for a blackberry enterprise activation code which i have no idea what that would be! Also when I've gone to download ringtones its saying requested server not available. Not having my email setup means I'm unable to start using the BMM is there any way to fix these?

I'm trying to set up email but atm its only giving me the option for setting up work email account with a BB enterprise server - I just want to set up a normal email account using my normal hotmail account but i cant get any further along as it asks for my enterprise activation password - which i obviously dont have?
Also - a few friend have gien me their pin so i can add them on BBM, i type the pin and it says contact pending but the person/s im trying to add get no notification that i'm trying to add them - we try it the other way with me giving them my pin and get the same result WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
I own a BB Curve 8520. Before having setup the BIS, I could synchronize all my Outlook stuff with the device (contacts, tasks, calendar, ...) via USB as well as Bluetooth. Since I have setup BIS, I can still synchronize my contacts with Outlook, but even when I configure the Calendar to be synched as well, nothing happens. No errors are shown in the log. Seems that the calendar sync is just skipped. Does anyone have an idea what could have gone wrong? I also already tried a soft reset of the device.
View 37 Replies View RelatedI bought my first BlackBerry (Curve 3G 9300) on Friday and tried to setup a personal email account on the phone via the setup wizard earlier today.The phone said that an update to 6.11...... was needed in order to do this. I let it update, now the phone is just hanging after starting up. If I do a start up after removing the battery it comes up with a black screen with the BlackBerry logo and a progress bar below it. The progress bar moves along until the end, this takes around a minute. It then shows something like a little clock over the logo for about a second. Once this disappears the phone says with the logo and the completed progress bar - and just hangs there.

I have an existing 8320 which connects and works perfectly OK on the same laptop.
This is what I have tried so far
1. Unstalled existing Desktop software and reinstalled both with downloaded version and cd provided version
2. Installed USB/modem drivers from Blackberry downloads and tried a manual add
3. Ditto with Microsoft generic rim drivers
This has taken about 8 hours of changes so far all to no avail. The 8320 is fine tho'
