BB Curve :: 8520 - No MMS And Personal Email Account Setup Options
Feb 28, 2012
I got my first BB (8520) two weeks ago, and I still have not managed to get the email and MMS setup. If I go to messages, there is only SMS and email, no MMS options.. And when I try to set the email there is only the Enterprise option, I wanna set it up with my gmail.
I am unable to receive any picture messages?? I am also unable to set up a personal email account through blackberry its only giving me the option of a works email??
I bought my first BlackBerry (Curve 3G 9300) on Friday and tried to setup a personal email account on the phone via the setup wizard earlier today. The phone said that an update to 6.11...... was needed in order to do this. I let it update, now the phone is just hanging after starting up. If I do a start up after removing the battery it comes up with a black screen with the BlackBerry logo and a progress bar below it. The progress bar moves along until the end, this takes around a minute. It then shows something like a little clock over the logo for about a second. Once this disappears the phone says with the logo and the completed progress bar - and just hangs there.
i can`t setup personal email on 8520,when i watched the video on the blackberry site,it showed an icon to set up personal e-mail, on my bb the only option i have is to setup a work e-mail on bes?

Click Setup Wizard.Click Email Setup. But when I'm in the email setup, the only option I have is the "I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server.I don't have the option of "I want to create or add an email address. Now, how can I create a personal email account on my phone?

How do I do it? and why do I keep being asked for an Enterprise Server password/code - what is it and where do I find it. I want to setup email connection. On this 9360 I do not have any Connection Assistant so I use "setup" mode and "mail accounts" options. Usually (as on my previous Curve 8520) I used to have two options when entering there :
- Use my own email address (personal address) or create a new one - Use my Enterprise email address
But when I launch Email setup on my curve 9360, I have only the Enterprise option so that I Cannot setup email! My 9360 runs under OS 7.
I want to set-up a personal email account.unfortunately, I only have one option in my bbcurve 8520....And that is: I want to use my work email from blackberry enterprise server.
first time Blackberry user here and am trying to set up my email. However, when I go to the setup screen I only have the business option to set up email. how do I set up a personal email account?
I wanted to configure my personal email account, but all I get on my BB, when I enter the set up wizard (besides from bluethooth, wifi) is the email set up wizard for a work email account. (whilst, if I look to the help menu online, there you get two possibilities).
I have an ATT 8520 Curve unlocked to work with a tmobile sim card and have a few questions...Now that's unlocked I cant setup an external email account (hotmail, gmail, etc...) that icon is missing from the setup section. how can I get that feature? can I also use the bbm feature? I added a friend (and vice-versa) but it just stays as pending. is it possible to bbm? for the above 2 do i need to get the bb data plan so they can work? I've read elsewhere that the best way to get the features would be to load the tmobile handheld software. I went to tmobiles site, I enter my ph# - select the 8520 - click on handheld and it takes me to their 'shop for phones' page. I guess they now by the number that i dont currently have a bb. So I tried a friends ph# from tmobile who has a bb and it still took me to the 'shop for phones' page. So I Am hoping it's just a link glitch going on right now. I did download from this forum the 5.0 OS "8520wifiM_PBr5.0.0_rel860_PL5.2.0.47_A5.0.0.509_W ind_Hellas.exe" which obviously is not tmobile. What would loading this different OS allow me to do? Or what features will I have available? and I have lowercase 'edge'.

I am trying to configure a personal email address on my blackberry curve 8520 but it only gives me the option on the Email Set-up - i want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server and not the option ' i want to create or add an email address. I have currently got an ASDA SIM Card. Is there a way of setting up an e-mail address on this phone?
My colleague had a blackberry curve 8900 and this was then passed to me as he left the company. My sim works in the phone fine but I am unable to set up my email as it says there is one already set up. Im no longer in contact with my colleague and not sure what to do. Is there any way of renewing this? When I go to email setup it doesnt have the option of create new email.
I am a consultant and have a client that has a BB Curve. He has been using a certain provider inet for his email. He has now changed to a different provider (for technical reasons). I have tried to setup his new email account for the new provider - I also use a BB curves and have performed this operation for over 50 of my clients. However in this scenario, the Curve keeps asking for his account id and password. We have tried to enter it and it says that the Username cannot be blank. If we exit and re-enter the setup tool, and then enter the same info again, it says that the username and/or password is incorrect. His credentials have never - ever changed.
We cannot get his password (or acct info) sent to him by BB (RIM), because he no longer has the email address of record. Of course I tried entering a different email address to send it to, but of course it doesn't get to his phone as there is no eamil address setup (except his old one). The provider here in town (TELUS) has been quite useless in helping and have been quite specific that we need to talk to RIM, well of course this seems to be the only avenue available. Can someone direct us to the appropriate area or resource in order to proceed with setting up his new email account.

But, I can't figure out how to set up my VPN settings for an email account on the 8520. Co-workers who have other smartphones(not Berries) and connect.

It's possible to use a 3rd party email app on my 9300. The problem I have found is that the 3rd party app wants the incoming mail server and the outgoing mail server. I don't have that information, and when I asked vodafone, they told me tocontact Blackberry (and very kindly sent me a contact number for Blackberry, which didn't work). Is it not possible in the UK to use third party email apps?
