BB Curve 83xx :: Sand Timer Pop Up On Screen?
Jan 8, 2010Ok, so I have read on crackberry that BB's can't get viruses, however something is going on with my 8320. I don't App world, which I read causes the timer to pop up on screen and I don't have Facebook on my phone. I havent added any new Apps on my BB recently, but I am getting that stupid "sand timer" on my screen all the time and I can't go anywhere. I have Quickpull App and it is scheduled for pull everyday and I'm actually pulling the battery every day.

Jun 22, 2010yesterday, my 8320 was at the point where it had no battery life for radio use.Now the phone just completely turned off. Its been on charge for a good 10-15min. After holding the end button to turn it on, it says, battery drained, and it turns off.whats my problem? 2 different chargers have been used already, and so has the USB.

BB Software :: Countdown Timer Won't Reset
May 10, 2010my timer shows 00:00:00 if I reset it, but if I hit start, it goes to 743:59:59 and begins counting down. If I try to set 1 minute or 5 minutes or whatever I've got the patience to test, it will countdown to 0, then roll immediately to 743:59:59 again. If I add 99:00:00, it shows that on the countdown screen, and then if I try to change the time again it auto-fills with 03:00:00 (it will always use the remainder of the hours I put in next if divided by 24). Another example, if I put 24:00:00, it will add 24 hours to the existing number (now in the hundreds) and the field will fill with all zeroes again. I can only reduce the time shown on the timer by having a remainder and then resetting that to 0. Essentially, I can always get it to show a multiple of 24 hours, but I'm just trying to set laundry reminders, etc...
(v4.6.0.180 Platform 4.1.0.61) I've done a zillion battery pulls since this started and I don't feel like wiping all my apps...

Feb 16, 2010I gave my sister my old curve its about 1 1/2 yrs old. the day i gave it to her the phone worked just fine but after she flew back home the battery would only last her a few minutes. i told her to try a new battery but it still has not changed anything. i even got her to upgrade to 5.0 just to see if it would make any difference but it doesnt.
she barely uses any apps, and mostly uses the phone for emailing.on standby it will every 10minutes or so the battery life will go down by 10%, and after a few texts or a minute or two on a call the phone will just die. she can pretty much just use it when its connected to a power source.Seems like a phone issue but there is no warranty on it

Aug 20, 2015Was using 5.1.1 after update and was having a few little issues, nothing too bad, the battery was acceptable. I did a factory reset to try and iron these issues out..... phone now is better however the battery has taken a large hit.
Nothing obviously causing it. All looks normal, when I have charged fully the battery info shows estimated battery at around 9 to 10 hours brightness set below 50% . It's a bit annoying when you do everything to manage it. Was fairly happy before but now... didn't know if it's feasible to keep.

Apr 30, 2010I’ve got a BlackBerry Curve 8900 (ATT, running 4.2.0.108), and have had it since Oct. 2009. Battery life has always been OK - 24 to 48 hrs. between recharges.
Today though, after pulling it off the charger this morning around 8:00 a.m., I’ve noticed that I’m down to about 5% charge by 2:30 p.m. I have made no phone calls today, and have only sent/received a couple texts and rec’d two emails. I've never used a holster, have downloaded no apps, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both off. No keys appear to be sticking. Absolutely nothing, to my knowledge, of any significance has changed on the phone since October, yet all of a sudden --literally, overnight --I am experiencing this greatly diminished battery life. The only even remotely precipitating factor I can think of is that I did a battery pull yesterday, after deleting some old photos and emails.
I’ve searched the forum, and most of the suggestions are along the lines of “turn off bluetooth/wi-fi/update OS,” but as noted, I never used those anyhow, and the OS has always been good to me.

May 19, 2012Recently my phone freezes when I am using it, it comes up with a small black egg timer symbol and it just kills my battery, i hear this is a common blackberry problem and it sometimes resolves itself when I pull the battery out the back, but surely this cannot be healthy for the phone to constantly pull the battery out whilst its still on?

May 4, 2010I was given a BB Curve 8310 to attempt a repair. When I attach the USB cable to the BB the system tray does not pop up with a notification that says "found new hardware" like it normally does when you plug a BB in. When the phone boots up it displays error msg " JVM Error 513". I attempted to looking into the device by using "cracmem" and "JL_Cmder" and no data is to be found and thus there is nothing to wipe. I suspect that the device has already been wiped thus the no data. I have pulled the battery from the phone and reinstalled; unplugged the usb cable during the BB boot process and nothing is happening. The DM application loader will not allow me to procede due to computer not recognizing the BB device thus it is not generating the "USB:UNKNOWN".

Feb 2, 2010I installed the BB desktop manager for Mac yesterday, and this morning connected to remove some apps, create some space, and install all the updates. In the process of this it mysteriously just stopped doing anything right after it said "database cannot be backed up" and shut off. Now it's flashing red twice, pausing for about 2 seconds, and repeating the flashing. I pulled the battery and sim even though I was sure that wouldn't do anything, plugged it back into my laptop, plugged it into the wall both with and without the battery, and nothing has changed. The desktop manager doesn't not recognize the device at all.
I'm using a Curve 8330. Is there anything I can do or am I screwed totally? Also, and I know this is a long shot, but what are the odds that I can restore the device and save the data that's on it?
BB Curve 83xx :: Ready To Take Plunge And Update 8330 Curve?
Apr 22, 2010I've had my 8330 Curve with Verizon since November 2008. Very happy with it. I also happen to still be using OS 4.3.0.127 (202), which is what the unit came loaded with. I never bothered upgrading because I would always hear of people having issues or DM only backing up your contacts and not your apps, lower music volume, etc. I don't really need Docs To Go, but HTML e-mail would be nice and the biggest thing is trying to improve these BBM delays I constantly get when trying to send a message. I'm thinking an upgrade to the latest BBM might help change that.
Of course, in order to do that, I need to upgrade to 4.5. So I've decided to do it, but not before I ask for feedback here. I've scanned dozens of other threads here, all with varying opinions. It's been long enough. Is it wise to do this and, if so, what is the latest OS for VZW (is it .138)? What risks am I really running here? Need a reality check on this.
