BB Curve 83xx :: Default Calculator Is Missing
Mar 7, 2010A few days ago, I noticed my default calculator is missing. The icon is not hidden or anywhere to be found. I've tried searching for outside apps. to install, but they're all so much more advanced and I just want something simple.Is there any way I can re-download the native calculator or find it somewhere on my device?

Mar 26, 2010Might anyone know why, when I'm in my browser and I hit menu, the option 'Go To' is sometimes not there? Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't . . What's the deal? It isn't there now for example, so I can only go to pages that are either in my history or my bookmarks. Anyone know why, or have this problem also?

Aug 31, 2010Ok, my SMS icon has disappeared for no particular reason. Nothing I've seen in other threads is helping. I have an 8330 from NTelos. I also keep getting the "nullpointer" exception after battery pulls.
-It is NOT hidden
-It is NOT combined
-battery pull does nothing
-the software is updated
-'restore theme defaults' did not fix it
-changing from 3rd party theme to stock theme did not fix it
-re-registering with the network did not fix it
-uninstalling/reinstalling BBM does not help
anything else i can reasonably try before i throw it out the window?

Jun 10, 2010whereever the experts think is best. I want to sync my phone with yahoo so I will have my address book always updated. Because I had to wipe my phone last week and lost just about everything (had some address book on my KATANA to download what was there).I just now did a fresh back up of my device. (however I got a message that says : Error Backing up DataBase [profiles}6 of 8 entries retrieved.

Jan 12, 2010I tried to help my friend update his 8330... only the blackberry messenger. He is not an avid crackberry user, so did not have his contacts backed up on his computer, and of course he lost his contacts, except for the ones with email addresses attached to them for some reason. He lost all phone numbers. I was wondering if there is any way his contacts would have been backed up, either with verizon, on the media card, any way to get them back..... He is running the last official update from Verizon.

Jun 28, 2010So i had an old gmail account and all my contacts were synced with that one and so then i deleted that one and created a new gmail so now that im trying to sync my gmail contacts with my new gmail it wont let me it just syncs new contacts that i add not the ones that have been on my phone and in each contacts it says "synchronized with: (my old gmail)" and i wanted to know how i can change the old gmail sync with my new gmail sync i've also tried google sync and that doesnt work at all either so i would appreciate some help with this problem.

Jan 11, 2010I visited the blackberry applications website on my computer. I see programs/applications which may help me. Next to some of them i see a fee to purchase the program. Are those one time fees or monthly things? Or is it program specific. the thing i was looking at was called Zbook and seems to keep a copy of my contacts.

May 19, 2010I just got a curve 8330 from a friend and had the service switched to it from my LG voyager today. Went to the Verizon store and they were unable to transfer my contacts. The guy told me that in options, because "wireless sync" says Not Available, he couldn't do it. I can't change that setting either.

Apr 18, 2010I downloaded Blackberry Desktop Manager like the BB site said to do and backed up my address book and everything else on my phone. I was going to update my BB Curve 8330 software. I read the directions and followed them and after I backed up and it said the back up was successful I tried to update the software and it said that failed so I restored everything back onto my phone and guess what? Address book is gone! So far that's the only thing I can find that didn't restore but I'm still looking. Is there anything that I can do that I am not techno-savvy enough to have realized or are they just gone? If they're just gone then fine whatever I'm not going to freak out.

Jan 4, 2010I'm kinda new to Blackberry, been toying around with my BB8310 and was trying to organize the applications into folders and such. I've searched and read thru some tutorials and stuff on how to do it. However, whenever I press the menu or alt + trackball when I highlight the application, there's only the "move" option. There's no "move to folder" option. What am I missing here? I am on a BB8310 with OS 4.5. Can someone please enlighten me. Sorry if this has been discussed before. I did a search on this in the forum itself and didn't find anything.

Aug 11, 2010After removing and reinstalling my original battery and sim card on my curve 8310, I lost everything including my contacts and calendar. I am devestated and wonder what happened. When the battery was reinstalled and the phone auto restarted, I lost my desktop and knew immediately something bad had happened. It restarted with the original factory settings. I never made any setting changes. The reset happened automatically.

The names still show up in my call log, but I cannot call or text them by typing in their name. May 4, 2010I was given a BB Curve 8310 to attempt a repair. When I attach the USB cable to the BB the system tray does not pop up with a notification that says "found new hardware" like it normally does when you plug a BB in. When the phone boots up it displays error msg " JVM Error 513". I attempted to looking into the device by using "cracmem" and "JL_Cmder" and no data is to be found and thus there is nothing to wipe. I suspect that the device has already been wiped thus the no data. I have pulled the battery from the phone and reinstalled; unplugged the usb cable during the BB boot process and nothing is happening. The DM application loader will not allow me to procede due to computer not recognizing the BB device thus it is not generating the "USB:UNKNOWN".

Feb 2, 2010I installed the BB desktop manager for Mac yesterday, and this morning connected to remove some apps, create some space, and install all the updates. In the process of this it mysteriously just stopped doing anything right after it said "database cannot be backed up" and shut off. Now it's flashing red twice, pausing for about 2 seconds, and repeating the flashing. I pulled the battery and sim even though I was sure that wouldn't do anything, plugged it back into my laptop, plugged it into the wall both with and without the battery, and nothing has changed. The desktop manager doesn't not recognize the device at all.
I'm using a Curve 8330. Is there anything I can do or am I screwed totally? Also, and I know this is a long shot, but what are the odds that I can restore the device and save the data that's on it?
BB Curve 83xx :: Ready To Take Plunge And Update 8330 Curve?
Apr 22, 2010I've had my 8330 Curve with Verizon since November 2008. Very happy with it. I also happen to still be using OS 4.3.0.127 (202), which is what the unit came loaded with. I never bothered upgrading because I would always hear of people having issues or DM only backing up your contacts and not your apps, lower music volume, etc. I don't really need Docs To Go, but HTML e-mail would be nice and the biggest thing is trying to improve these BBM delays I constantly get when trying to send a message. I'm thinking an upgrade to the latest BBM might help change that.
Of course, in order to do that, I need to upgrade to 4.5. So I've decided to do it, but not before I ask for feedback here. I've scanned dozens of other threads here, all with varying opinions. It's been long enough. Is it wise to do this and, if so, what is the latest OS for VZW (is it .138)? What risks am I really running here? Need a reality check on this.

Apr 18, 2010I don't know if this is possible or not so I thought I would ask here, is it possible to alter the way the menu functions in the blackberry curve? in example, what I want to do is like when I send a sms text message and when I hit the trackball and the menu options come up, the send button is highlighted, and what I would like do is modify it so that the check spelling is highlighted first and then send button is right below it, is it possible to do this or is this an internal Blackberry Software modification?

May 24, 2010I have a Blackberry Curve 8320. Yesterday night, the "battery too low for radio use" sign appeared. I plugged it in for about an hour but the sign would not disappear so I did a battery pull. Radio turned back on, but now the phone will not charge. The lightning icon still shows up by the battery but it is stuck at 5%. Any suggestions?
