I am having a problem in keeping my phone charged. I've checked to make sure I didn't have any extra apps running. It is dead within 4 hours of leaving the charger. Is there a way to reset a battery or do I need to clean something

I’ve got a BlackBerry Curve 8900 (ATT, running 4.2.0.108), and have had it since Oct. 2009. Battery life has always been OK - 24 to 48 hrs. between recharges.
Today though, after pulling it off the charger this morning around 8:00 a.m., I’ve noticed that I’m down to about 5% charge by 2:30 p.m. I have made no phone calls today, and have only sent/received a couple texts and rec’d two emails. I've never used a holster, have downloaded no apps, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both off. No keys appear to be sticking. Absolutely nothing, to my knowledge, of any significance has changed on the phone since October, yet all of a sudden --literally, overnight --I am experiencing this greatly diminished battery life. The only even remotely precipitating factor I can think of is that I did a battery pull yesterday, after deleting some old photos and emails.
I’ve searched the forum, and most of the suggestions are along the lines of “turn off bluetooth/wi-fi/update OS,” but as noted, I never used those anyhow, and the OS has always been good to me.
I gave my sister my old curve its about 1 1/2 yrs old. the day i gave it to her the phone worked just fine but after she flew back home the battery would only last her a few minutes. i told her to try a new battery but it still has not changed anything. i even got her to upgrade to 5.0 just to see if it would make any difference but it doesnt.
she barely uses any apps, and mostly uses the phone for emailing.on standby it will every 10minutes or so the battery life will go down by 10%, and after a few texts or a minute or two on a call the phone will just die. she can pretty much just use it when its connected to a power source.Seems like a phone issue but there is no warranty on it
Okay, so I'm on the move a lot, travelling to and from University each day which can take anywhere between 1-2 hours getting there and getting back. I'm always on my phone during travelling as there isb't much else to do and I like to keep in touch with friends. I use Facebook and the internet a lot on their and I understand this is why my battery runs down so quick. Using it for I'd say 3 or so hours and the battery is done, I usually take my usb cable to uni so I can charge it ready for the journey home. Is there anyway I can get the same usage out of it and not drain the battery so much? I am thinking of getting a new battery first off as I'd say the current one would not be able to achieve good life againt, but is there long lasting batteries I can get?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI updated my blackberry software overnight on my device (curve 9330) and when I woke up in the morning there was a constant white screen with a little diagram and 561 error message underneath. I followed the instructions to update the device software on my desktop and had the latest version (6.1.0.35).The device does not connect to the PC at all and a battery reset on the device did not help.It is frozen with the white 561 error message screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my new 8530 curve for about a week now. I'm getting about 1/2 day of heavy usage from the battery. This includes 6 hrs of usage with 2 hrs of bluetooth conference calls, and when I'm not talking, I'm checking emails and stocks every 30 min. Have to say, I'm a little disappointed as I could get an extra 1/2 day with my 8330 and just charge my bb at the end of the day with 10-20% left over. Folks say I need to upgrade os, that is next on my list.

I thought the battery had run its course so purchased a new genuine battery, fully charged and discharged at least 10 times and is no better than the one it replaced. It even runs flat from full when switched off for a couple of days.My network provider is orange although it was BT but the problem started before this.I also get email on the phone.I hope this is enough info.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've only had this phone for a few months and the battery life is awful, 10 texts later and it's almost dead, one quick phone call same thing. the screen goes dark not long after last communication, I've tried deleting removing apps. This is really odd at least in my opinion I basically only answer a few texts a day and maybe 2 or 3 bbm or nothing at all. wi fi is off.

Even without using it for anything, it starts the day fully charged and loses juice by 6pm, when I have to turn it off. I've had it since March, it has had a new battery (about a month into my contract with Orange), and I also have Battery Booster enabled.

Then the other day I downloaded a few apps (dictionary, flashlight and barcode scanner) and also added a lot of music onto the phone. Now the battery life just goes after a few hours. I've turned off Bluetooth and WiFi. I don't know what is sucking all the life out of my battery. I haven't browsed the internet or talked on the phone. It just sits there doing nothing and the battery goes dead.

Also one morning I noticed my blackberry battery was on half but I left it of for most of the day and turned it on for about four hours but in that time it had died. The next day it was fully charged by 10 am and by 5 pm it was dead. I don't understand why its doing this, I've never had this problem before and I haven't made any changes. I have the same amount of apps and songs and I had before this problem and I hadn't used any apps or listened to any music this day so it just doesn't make sense.

I only use whatsapp and phone calls (very fell phone calls). Is this any problem with the configuration?
When my phone did not use APN as defaulf, my battery lasts almost 3 days - but whatsapp wasn't working w/3G.
I have just bought a bb 9300 curve (10 days old) and the battery life seems to be extremely bad. The only apps running are whatsapp, facebook and bbm. - even if I don't touch my phone the standby time is bearly 2 days (manufacture specs claim 19 days standby time). Surely this can't be right. I have implemented every battery saving technique without any measurable change.

I have searched everywhere and there seems to be no solution, also there are 100's of users reporting the same issues but blackberry seems to dodge the subject and offer pre designed answers. Surely you can admit if there is a manufacturing issue and offer a proper solution instead of dodging the issue. View 2 Replies View RelatedOk seriously... this is BS [exscuse my language] but this is my second Blackberry Curve 8900 and second battery and I've only had blackberry for 11 months. The first 8900 the battery started draining rapidly after 4-5 months and kept deleting everything on my microSD card. I had it replaced... now this second 8900 is doing the same thing. I've had the second 8900 for 4 months. I charged it all night, took it off the charger at 7am; by the time i was out of class it was red and going dead at 10am!
I do not have wifi on, no bluetooth... and also, it pings [like I've gotten a new text or email], the LED light will flash red but there won't be a message or missed call!
Anyone have this issue too? I am having it replace for the second time, this will be my 3rd blackberry 8900. If I have issues and problems again, I will have to say goodbye to blackberry. Even though I love everything about BB, the style, the keypad and so forth, I need something that won't die on me after 4-5 months!

But the problem is 90% of my friends and family own a blackberry, so basically I still need BBM.Now, I'm thinking of buying a new javelin, cause I always loved the form factor so much. I have already read enough of this great forum post, I hope in the future to helpbeginners like me, one day we had to IOS (formerly had a Galaxy S2) and now we are more than comfortable with my 4s!I have the cell phone constantly charging, either in the Dock, when I go to bed, Through The cable in my university (when I'm in class or on the computer in the Library), this because the phone if consuming battery (I have the iOS 5.0.1) and hate running out of battery (no phone) when I'm away from home.Then the doubt (I've already searched in many forums) is whether this is detrimental tothe battery of the phone, or simply when the iPhone detects that is loaded, just stops receiving load and nothing happens:

So had my N900 for a little over a week now and overall I'm pretty impressed. Great phone, but still very much a work in progress. One of the main issues I have at the moment, other than no turn-by-turn navigation (sorry, had to mention it), is the battery life - or lack of!
On an average weekday I use the phone to send a few texts (no more than 10), scan the news sites (no more then 20-30mins total) and catch up on my RSS feeds (again, no more than 20-30 mins total). I'm not using the media player at all and I may make one or two short calls.
Bottom line is that I'm struggling to get more than 6 hours battery life out of it. I know smart phones are thirsty, but I don't even get to listen to music on my way to or from work!Here's what I've already done to reduce battery consumption:
Removed active widgets (such as ForcaWeather) from desktops and replaced with web shortcuts.Reduced screen brightness to 2 barsDisabled GPS & Network positioningDisabled IMDisabled BluetoothI've heard some mention reducing the amount of active desktops, but I think that kinda defeats the object of having a N900. May as well buy a lesser phone if you need to strip out all the functionality to get though the day. I'd be satisfied with 8-10 hours medium use. At the moment I'm getting around 6 hours at light use - got to be something I'm missing.

Quick question: How long is the battery on the curve suppose to last @ moderate use (ie. BBM, some web, few apps running).I unplug my phone around 7am in the morning and by roughly 3:30-4pm the battery has almost died. Now during that time all I'm doing is sending BBM messages (no pictures), minimal SMS messages and the only app I have running is 'Weather Bug'. Is this normal for the curve battery to die so quickly? I've read about other users saying that they can easily get a days worth of use out of their battery and they still have sufficient enough charge.

1: The battery life it bad! I took it off the charger today at about 9:00, and have used some texting, about 20 minutes of Pandora, and a little bit of internet browsing, and now my battery is at 75%... I like in a coverage area with 5 bars (more on next one), and I am not using wifi very much, with screen at 10%, 10 seconds off, and auto dim, so I don't know what it is...
2: As above, I have 5 bars in my house, but when I hold the phone it will go down to two or one, sometimes zero, switch to no service, and not get good signal until I set it down and leave it there for a couple seconds. Very annoying, because it makes it hard to load web pages sometimes. I would use wifi but it is slower and less reliable than Sprint's network for some reason. If someone could help me with these problems, or at least suggest some things, that would be great!
I just got my Blackberry Curve 8530 about a week or so ago. I love it, but there is one problem - the battery life has diminished completely.I charge it overnight so that it's ready in the morning. So, here's a timeline to gauge it's life: I woke up at 6:30, unhooked it from an overnight charge.I got to work at 7, it was still almost full.
Now it's 10:15AM and it's at 3/5 battery life. However, I've done almost NOTHING with it. I checked two e-mails, and the battery life was low prior to that.Is there anything I can/should do to conserve battery life? My Envy II had better battery life than this.
