Further to that, when the keypad is locked it automatically unlocks after a few moments.My other devices would automatically light up when I remove device from jacket, now its on all the time and I am constantly dialing numbers unknowingly.

Yesterday, I picked up the phone and there was no red indicator light blinking -- however, when I touched my mouse I realized that there had been an incoming message on my BlackBerry Messenger sitting there for about 3 hours. I did not pick up my BlackBerry sooner because I did not see any red light when I walked into the room during that 3-hour period. What can I do to make sure this red light blinks forever until I finally notice it and review the message?

I have no clue is if takes charge because when i plug it in and leave it, there are no signs of it charging. I have tried changing the battery didnt work I tried plugging it on to the wall take out the battery put it back on and hold it end call button for 15 seconds and that didnt work either.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have this old 9700 I got from a friend that he says is bricked. I took a look at it and when I put a battery on it, it blinks twice, pause and blinks twice again. It does that and never loads. So I thought, this would be an easy fix. I would just reload the OS and it's good to go. But I was wrong.First thing I did is I went and installed an OS6 (.650) and tried the loader.exe but when I click on Next, it does't recognize a PIN, it says USB-PIN: UNKNOWN. I clicked on next nevertheless and tried to reload the OS but then it won't go past the Loading JVM step which is the second step I guess, being 'Erasing Applications' as the first one. I left it for a couple of hours and it still won't load the OS.Next thing I did is tried to wipe the phone using BBSAK, CrackUtil and JL_Cmder. With the CrackUtil, it says 'Phone not connected' while the JL_Cmder won't let me wipe it. It just keeps on going back to the Menu after I've typed 'blackberry'. The BBSAK won't recognize the phone either.I tried using Desktop Manager as well. It can see that the phone is a 9700 but on the PIN, it says 0.One more thing I noticed, when I put on the battery, the red blinks but when I take off the battery and just plug the USB cord, it won't do anything. My computer will do something (makes a sound and 'recognize' the device in a way) ONLY if I have the battery put on before I put the USB cord on. If it's the USB cord alone, without the battery, it stays dead. Which is weird since in my experience, my computer always recognize BlackBerry devices whether a battery is present or not when you plug the USB cord.Oh and BTW, now my computer doesn't read my phone anymore, whether I put the battery in or not. The phone keeps blinking though, when I have the battery on. Blinks twice, pause and do it all over again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my AT&T Blackberry Bold 9700 since November of 2009 and am just experiencing this problem. My device is set so the back light goes off after 20 seconds. Whenever I put it down or lock it, the back light goes off just as it should. But, within 5-10 minutes, it turns back on without provocation and won't shut off again until I unlock and re-lock the phone.
As you can imagine, this is killing my battery life. I've tried playing with the settings, but nothing seems to do the trick. I've rebooted several times and removed the battery twice, but neither has worked. Anyone encounter this issue and/or have any suggestions on how to fix it?
Yesterday I was waiting for an important call but needed a shower so I took my phone into the bathroom and put it in a dry safe place where I would hear it ring if need be. It did so I quickly jumped out of the shower, dried hands and answered a message. Few minutes later when back at my desk at home I realized the bold was behaving weird, key presses were not doing the right function, i.e. a press of the back key brought up jk or other letters on the screen etc.
It did not sustain water damage, at worst my hands were merely damp when used so I just figured pop it down for a while and let it 'dry' (it wasn't wet but you know what I mean, its all I could think of) picked it up maybe 15 minutes later and it appeared to have died. Now, its 15 months old (and was a refurbished handset direct from 02 when I got it so its had a hard life) its been bumped, and not long after I got it I broke the screen (LCD bleed) so I had it repaired which forfeited the warranty, also the trackball has been a constant nightmare to me, it stops working in one or more direction regularly.
I've found the solution to this to be to clean the trackball gently with a q-tip dipped in clear alcohol, after some time this usually works, but a couple of months ago I could not get this to work at all so after 2 weeks of a phone that would not scroll left I had the trackball replaced. I now had issues with the trackball not selecting when I push down but this is got around by using the return key or it does sometimes work if you push hard. So, with this new flashing red light failure I took it back to the place that replaced the screen. They kept it for 24 hours and when I went back to collect it they said it was a component failure and beyond economic repair.
Quite truthfully though I got the impression that they actually just couldn't be bothered as it was a hard job. Came home and started researching, other posts I have read lead me to believe that if the LED comes on in any way all is not lost. My computer does not recognize the phone when I try and connect it via USB, although just now I tried again and windows acknowledged that a device had just been plugged in, but the blackberry software still did not detect anything. What can I try now? I am not tech savvy so it will need to be clearly laid out for idiots.
My screen keeps scrolling down automatically when a bright light hits the screen. Make it hard to use outside. Trying to make a phone call, read text, email, or even just scrolling through apps is very difficult because the screen scrolls down to the very bottom very quickly. When I scoll back up, it scrolls right back to the bottom. When I'm not outside or a bright glare is not on the screen it works great.

There's nothing to hit or touch, but phone keeps ringing yet you can't answer to call. This is happening when phone is in screensaving mode. Normally there's time and day in a black display, but when phone starts ringing, display is darken.In a few seconds (maybe ten or so) display returns to normal view and you may answer to call - if one who makes a phone call happens to be still there. I have re-installing the software just yesterday and after that, there have not been that problem so far - but I have receiving only few calls since that software re-installation.

I am using BlackBerry Desktop Manager v5.0.1. My phone actually has Application Memory Free Space 301.5 MB. My BlackBerry's version is 5.0.0.732. I cannot update or delete software using BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

After a while the white screen with the nokia sign appears for few seconds and then shuts off automatically and the charging light comes off. When i tried to use the power button it doesn't turn on. Often my iPhone doesn't pick up wifi when I come into a wi-fi zone and stays on GPRS until I go into setting, wifi and then it picks up the network. Sometimes it does it automatically but it's annoying when it doesn't. It sometimes does the same with network signal if you go into a 'No Service' area and then come out of it it often takes a long time to pick up the network signal again.
