BB Curve :: Features Lost With Upgrade To Version 5.0 Bundle 1168?
Mar 16, 2012I had upgraded to the new version 5.0 bundle 1168 and since then have lost some of the features from the prious version 2. The password keeper vault had a lot of information and I want to retrieve it. I have the Blackberry desktop software and have back up of the old data.Is it possible to keep the new version however have the information from the password keeper loaded into it.

Feb 8, 2012So I eagerly upgraded from Anna to Belle on my N8. Here is a list of missing features;
1) widget offline setting
2) automatic wifi enable when launching the browser, store or other internet app
3) bluetooth beep no longer present after turning off bluetooth
4) turning wifi on doesn't automatically pair with defined access point
5) task manager or open applications feature
6) automatic screen blanking while placing or receiving a call
7) wife connection drops but wifi radio stays on
8) touching battery icon indicates remaining power (same for other icons)
Another nit, apps that were previously downloaded when they were free, can no longer be downloaded without paying. Why does the upgrade remove your apps anyway?

Aug 22, 2011recently I can't find spanish accents during text messagings. There are french accent (à ) or other languages symbols such as Ö, but not spanish accents (á). I had them until a few weeks ago.

Jan 16, 2012I was deleting messages from my inbox when my phone just hung for a few seconds then shut down. When i turned it on, my settings reset. All my contacts, messages, stuff from my gallery were all gone. There's no "inbox" in my messaging. No ovi. In my internet menu there's just home, browser and web services. EVERYTHING from my phone memory were gone and some of the phone's features too.

Jan 2, 2013Since the update, my phone no longer go into landscape. When I text, I usually flip landscape to do it. Now I cannot. Portrait Only. When I snap pictures, I always flip into landscape mode to view them.IT STINKS looking at the pictures in portrait mode.Two large black borders on top and bottom. I also discovered since the update, my phone can't read bar codes. This is what I did: I used FlashTool to downgrade my phone. Everything worked. Except now X reality doesn't work, the Sony sound enhancement doesn't work, the battery stamina feature doesn't work and the camera now takes photos worse looking than my 3DS.

So what happened? Did this "new" firmware rooted or unlocked the bootloader of my phone somehow? Is it possible for me to get the Sony exlusive features back?

Is there a way to retrieve this ? I have checked past emails from BB App world and SLG Mobile (provider of BR) but only have the purchase receipt.

The 2.3.4 version of camera application shoots better pictures than the updated camera application. Following upgrade my calendar, notes and bookmarks were still there but many apps missing, all music gone and most crucially most of my contacts have disappeared although I still have lots of text messages (numbers appearing rather than name) and emails. I have contacts only where their name begins with an A !All backups have disappeared too. I connected to an old laptop and managed to retrieve apps and the music which I had syned from that laptop previously but still no sign of the contacts.

Went into store and saw "genius" who spent an hour unable to fix problem. Changed phone (battery was getting hot) but no help.
looked at his Iphone 4s to sync it with mine but he could not tether his either. The upgrade has fixed some problem but knocked out bluetooth which can not connect to any of my equipment. Ipad, Iphone or coil for hearing aids.

Apr 27, 2011I received an email message from Blackberry inviting me to upgrade my OS to 5.0.0.1, which I did wirelessly.At the end of the process, after the restart, I got a message that said "uncaught exception ....I pulled the battery and tried again a few times, but I kept getting the same message.I Goggled the error message and to my horror found hundreds of listing - most related to corruption errors!However, since my blackberry home screen appeared under the message warning, and it is supposedly a mission critical device and I need to work, I clicked ok and started to use my device again.
All seemed find until I noticed that some of my contacts were missing.Maybe about 10%. I determined that some of these missing contacts had been updated since my last back-up. Others had been on my BB for years.I decided to try and restore the address book from my last back-up.I launched my Desktop Manager 6.0.2 and tethered my Curve.First I backed up the "damaged contact list" as part of a full back up.All went well.Then I went to use a 2 week only back up file, that I made before the OS upgrade. But the address book field was dimmed. There were 4036 entries on the dimmed back up file. I had 4021 on my Curve, but many more than 15 were missing. Regardless, I couldn't restore because:
(Dimmed entries are data types that are read only . . . . )The only solutions to this problem I found via Google related to older OSes and devices and involved deleting service book entries which look nothing like the service book entries I found. Or, is simply a problem related to running a RIM application on a RIM device after an upgrade to one more "advanced" RIM OS from another RIM OS, at RIM's recommendation?
