BB Bold 9700 :: Number Of Password Attempts
Sep 5, 2010When setting a password, for the "Number of Password Attempts" (set to 10), can somebody absolutely confirm if it is 10 consecutive logins, or if it 10 total?
I'm assuming once you login correctly once that the number if incorrect attempts resets to 0, but I've seen statements in various articles that state or at least hint otherwise.

Feb 19, 2010I have just updated to the new OS platform 5.1.0.146, I don't know why really they have made this inconvenient option, the lock key, only locks the keyboard without Password Locking the device, more over it locks the device and dim the screen directly, which wasn't the same in older OS.Really RIM has screwed the functionality of this lock button big time.As a solution I have changed the function for the right button to Password Lock instead of voice dialing. But I really can't see any reason why RIM did that

Jun 14, 2010I read about the Alt+Enter to lock the phone and have the password instantly activate. But is there ANY way to have the Lock button on top of the 9700 to lock it and password protect it instantly? I know that with my 8900, the standby button does it instantly but there is no standby on the 9700.It just doesn't make sense to me why locking it from the home screen and the alt+enter would password protect it right away, but the lock button at the corner makes you wait.

Mar 30, 2010I'm trying to set my phone to go into lock mode after a period of time (like 5 min or something). I've only been able to auto-lock it with a password protection but I don't want to enter a password every time, I just want to hit the button on top to unlock it.
Also, I don't use a holster...I just throw it in my pocket. Most of the time I remember to lock it before I put it in my pocket but every time I don't, I end up calling someone. I read the other threads prior to posting and nothing.

Apr 13, 2010Whenever I tap the lock button located at the top of the handset, it seems to only invoke the lock mechanism to stop error entries or calls when in your pocket, it's not locking handset to a point where you require password? I know I can lock it via the bb key but that's tidious. Anyone else experiencing this or annoyed with it?

Apr 30, 2010I recently updated my Blackberry 9700 and ever since it's not as it used to be. I used to press the top left to lock button to lock it. When I did this the screen would dim, but now when I press the shortcut key the screen goes black. Then if I press the shortcut key again it unlocks it straight away even though I have the password option on. Before, regardless of which ever key I pressed it would always ask for a password. Now, the only time it asks for the password is when I take it out of the holster. This is really annoying me.Is this something that i can change or do i have to do a restore??

Dec 4, 2015I thought this was just an issue with the Samsung Galaxy S5 Car Mode. So I downloaded a third party app, Car Home Ultra, and set it up. And it does the same thing.
When the phone detects the bluetooth connection, it tries to start car mode. But it seems that if I don't pick up the phone and enter my login pattern car mode doesn't fully load.
So the voice controls don't work. Now I'm going 100km/h down the highway and the thing isn't working until I enter a pattern.
Similarly, if I go for a short trip, because it doesn't fully load, when I get out of the car, it is still in this half-loaded state so a phone call comes in and I miss it because it is still trying to talk to my long-gone bluetooth connection.
Is there a way to fix this so car mode can fully load but I still have security on the phone?

Feb 13, 2010Using N79 with Ovi suite 2.0.2.42 on Windows 7 Ultimate.I need advice on what to do to the Nokia OVI suite software to avoid it getting its fingers into my system - let me describe the problem.From a fresh reboot, drive plugged in, when I try to eject the external HDD, Windows reports the device is in use. In the system event log, the reason for this is reported as something to do with NokiaMServer.I have not run any applications, so the MServer process must have decided all on its own that it must open something on the external HDD and not let go like a bulldog.Is there any way to get the Nokia software to not lock things? Mar 19, 2010I just got a used 8800 (Cingular) ver 4.5. The phone was wiped and I was able to set my own password. But I'd rather not have it lock at all.The help file indicated that PASSWORD could be disabled, but that does not work for me. I'm looking at Options > Security Options > General Setting.There's a password ENABLED field, but I can't change it, there is a little teeny tiny red lock icon next to the field.
I changed the security timeout to 30, and that helps.

BB Curve :: 9360 Password Lock Up?
Jul 23, 2012My daughter's BB Curve is password protected and it will not accept the password. Is there anyway to reset without losing the data or photo's that have not been backed up? Can the memory card be removed before resetting then reinstalled after? She has done 9 attempts (and yes, the password is the correct one LOL) now if she tries again, she will definitely lose everything.
