how do i deactivate the password lock when i lock my phone? its very troublesome to keep typing the password to unlock when someone sms me. i went to check but it only wrote the timings that the password will be set after i lock the phone. it did not say disable password lock...
I have just updated to the new OS platform 5.1.0.146, I don't know why really they have made this inconvenient option, the lock key, only locks the keyboard without Password Locking the device, more over it locks the device and dim the screen directly, which wasn't the same in older OS.Really RIM has screwed the functionality of this lock button big time.As a solution I have changed the function for the right button to Password Lock instead of voice dialing. But I really can't see any reason why RIM did that
My phone is not accepting the keyboard lock password, it says u should type 'blackberry'. Now i cannot unlock my phone. Is there a way to get it unlocked. Think somebody fiddle with my phone and maxed all ten attempts to unlock it.
I read about the Alt+Enter to lock the phone and have the password instantly activate. But is there ANY way to have the Lock button on top of the 9700 to lock it and password protect it instantly? I know that with my 8900, the standby button does it instantly but there is no standby on the 9700.It just doesn't make sense to me why locking it from the home screen and the alt+enter would password protect it right away, but the lock button at the corner makes you wait.
I'm trying to set my phone to go into lock mode after a period of time (like 5 min or something). I've only been able to auto-lock it with a password protection but I don't want to enter a password every time, I just want to hit the button on top to unlock it.
Also, I don't use a holster...I just throw it in my pocket. Most of the time I remember to lock it before I put it in my pocket but every time I don't, I end up calling someone. I read the other threads prior to posting and nothing.
Whenever I tap the lock button located at the top of the handset, it seems to only invoke the lock mechanism to stop error entries or calls when in your pocket, it's not locking handset to a point where you require password? I know I can lock it via the bb key but that's tidious. Anyone else experiencing this or annoyed with it?
I recently updated my Blackberry 9700 and ever since it's not as it used to be. I used to press the top left to lock button to lock it. When I did this the screen would dim, but now when I press the shortcut key the screen goes black. Then if I press the shortcut key again it unlocks it straight away even though I have the password option on. Before, regardless of which ever key I pressed it would always ask for a password. Now, the only time it asks for the password is when I take it out of the holster. This is really annoying me.Is this something that i can change or do i have to do a restore??
When I use the shortcut lock, my phone locks the keypad, but instead i want it to be the password lock. I used my dad's phone and tried his shortcut lock and it works on his phone. what do i do to lock my phone using the password lock?
So I updated my Curve to the new version 5. I noticed that there was no more Keyboard Lock/Password Lock. From my previous software, it was named Keyboard Lock and I set it as one of my convenience keys. After the update, I noticed that it no longer existed. A friend of mine purchased a brand new Curve 8520 with the update already installed of course. She had the Keyboard Lock but it was named Password Lock instead. I have been searching for ways to get this feature back to my Blackberry because I feel it is more convenient rather than the "silent/mute mode" button located on the top of my device. The shortcut to lock my phone which is the "A" on my keyboard quickly "locks" my keyboard only
I want to be able to only lock my blackberry by pressing the top left lock button and not unlock it when i press it again. This is extremely annoying. Can anyone help me?
I just got a used 8800 (Cingular) ver 4.5. The phone was wiped and I was able to set my own password. But I'd rather not have it lock at all.The help file indicated that PASSWORD could be disabled, but that does not work for me. I'm looking at Options > Security Options > General Setting. There's a password ENABLED field, but I can't change it, there is a little teeny tiny red lock icon next to the field.
I changed the security timeout to 30, and that helps.
Can anyone tell me how to disable the password lock?
My daughter's BB Curve is password protected and it will not accept the password. Is there anyway to reset without losing the data or photo's that have not been backed up? Can the memory card be removed before resetting then reinstalled after? She has done 9 attempts (and yes, the password is the correct one LOL) now if she tries again, she will definitely lose everything.
I want to lock certain apps like Facebook, Messageer, etc from my kids but still give them access to game app on my iphone IOS7 and ipad. Is there an app that will password lock only apps that I select.

I bought a original packed SIM-lock-free Bold9900 and discovered that it is a German Telekom locked device. How can this be ? As a Vodafone customer this Bold9900 is completly useless - Vodafone cannot connect my Bold9900 and I see the T of Telekom Why does RIM not have a quality assurance ? All my friends - most of them are not iPhone fans - are laughing about me because I am / was stil a Blackberry fan.
How do I turn on password lock? I have it enabled but when I push the lock button up top, it doesn't require a password to unlock. The problem is, I want a password entered to unlock!

There is no way from BB support to get this information back.
