BB Bold 9700 :: Screen Broke - Will Desktop Manager Transfer Everything
Sep 18, 2010
I dropped my 9700 off the kitchen table last night, everything works fine except that my screen is white, i dont have the money to buy a new screen or i would replace it myself. i am getting a new one from tmobile, what im worried about is when i transfer everything using the desktop manager will it also transfer saved messages ? i have alot on my phone and would hate to lose them.
I am with T-mobile with a Blackberry 9700 v5.0.0.330 (Platform 5.1.0.91)
I am having difficulty syncing my device to my computer.
I am running Vista 32 bit on a Dell Inspiron 1525.
I have downloaded Desktop Manager 5.0.1 B49 MultiLanguage - Without Media Manager successfully and downloaded the latest version (I have seen elsewhere that this version is suggested for the bold 9700).
My computer recognizes the device but from the Found New Hardware prompt as a RIM Composite Device but In the desktop manager it says that there is no device plugged in.
I have also turned on media card support and mass storeage mode.
I cannot find the appropriate driver through the device manager either.
I did a couple battery pulls and connection re-tries in different usb ports.
When i run the desktop manager setup file, the installation process begins, and shows me a dialogue box that says 'pending .net framework' and i hit install to let it start. It goes through a couple of dialogue boxes and after like 5 mins, an error appears saying 'this requires that .net 3.5 sp1 shouild be installed' and i hit finish and it is exited.
Why does desktop manager not allow you to delete off applications you aren't going to use? The ones I'm specifically wanting to delete are in the downloads folder-mobile video, community, music apps, my-cast weather, MobiTV, MusicID, and XMradio. I'd like to get rid of these to free up some space for other applications I will use.
I have a Blackberry 9700 phone which has been working fine up until today when I decided to load the "Blackberry User Tools" software onto my P.C. at home. After successful installation and machine restart, I was asked to enter my "Device Password". Assuming this would be my password I set originally to lock my phone I entered it and found this didn't work. I subsequently attempted a number of other logical permutations but then realised that if I continued I would lock my phone. So I stopped (at 8/10 tries) and called my service provider "Orange UK" who advised they couldn't help me and that if I continued to enter the incorrect code, it would wipe my phone as it would automatically reset! When I connected via USB last time, it asked for me to enter the word "blackberry" which I did but when it then asked me to enter my password (which I assumed was the four digit numerical code I had originally set the phone with) it failed to work. I am now left with two further attempts. Please can anyone assist by advising me what I can do to overcome the problem without wiping my phone as the contents are very important to me.
I have just bought my first Blackberry.I have downloaded the desk top manager.I am trying to insert a new signature to my emails. There is no email option on the desk top manager.Would anyone know why?
About 3 weeks ago I had to switch from a Curve to the 9700. I used the switch device wizard to do this with no problems on my home laptop. Since then I have backed up the 9700 to my laptop but when I went to do this today, the device is not recognized by my laptop. I have tried just about everything with no luck. I thought the issue may be my cable and/or USB port but I actually connected my old Curve to the laptop and it immediately was recognized. I also have been synching the 9700 on my work PC and drove into the office today to see if I could do so..it worked without any problems. I am therefore not sure by the 9700 won't now connect to my laptop. Any ideas from anyone as to what I should be doing or what the problem is? I uninstalled and reinstalled the desktop manager application twice thinking that may be the problem but it has not resolved the issue. As an aside, I have gotten a message appearing on the 9700 saying that the USB connection does not have sufficient power to charge the device. I then acknowledge the message and it shows it is charging so I am not sure what that is...
I've benn triyng to connect with my bold 9700 (ATT carrier) using the bb desktop manager but there's no "IP Modem" icon for it. I'm using version 5.0.1.28 Nov 11 2009.
So I installed the new OS for the 9700 (5.0.0.862 - Vodafone) and my desktop manager isn't letting me add new media files or anything like that. It keeps telling me that I have to turn on Mass Storage Mode for this to work. I have desktop manager 6.
My phone is an unlocked AT&T Bold 9700 and my service provider is Fido (Canada). How do I fix this guys? I'm relatively new to this whole blackberry stuff.
I have installed the software v5.0.1 then I click synchronizing I can't tick the option synchronizing email messages. this has a grey block in front of the option, what should I do?
I am trying to sync my Yahoo calendar with my Blackberry Bold 9700 via the Blackberry Desktop Manager (version 5.0.1) and am getting the error message "Connection to Yahoo server was lost" when the calendar sync is occurring. The only option on the screen is to press "OK". Once "OK" is pressed, the Blackberry Desktop Manager returns to the synchronization screen. The address book syncs successfully, but the calendar does not. I have tried syncing one way and both ways without success.
A few notes about the environment: I am using the newer version of Yahoo Calendar which I have seen recommended on other postings. I am using standard Yahoo not the small biz version. I have seen this recommended, too.I am connecting my Blackberry Bold 9700 to my laptop via the USB cable that is supplied by Blackberry.
I have a Blackberry Bold 9700.I run Outlook 2010 and Plaxo. How can I get BlackBerry Desktop Manager to sync my contacts and Calendar with either of these applications?
Since this month, I have not been able to sync my BB calendar and contacts with my Yahoo account using the BB desktop manager. The process starts, but it never passes the address book part (it freezes and eventually crashes). I contacted Yahoo and they referred me to their Yahoo Intellisync. Which they don't support. I would switch to Google, but I recently changed my e-mail account; doing so one more time would be bad for business.
I just got this Blackberry on Dec 31, '09.I installed the DM software from the CD and now I was going to attempt to synchronize my phone with the desktop for the first time. When I plugged the phone in to the PC, it immediately said there were updates available and I just kept hitting Next until it apparently started the 12-step update process. Now my PC has been sitting at the download step (Step 3 of 12) downloading the same module for over 30 minutes now.
Amazing feature...now..not only can you backup your contacts as a BB file but you can save them on your PC as normal contacts which have full details (email, numbers, etc.)
You can download version 6 here >>> https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...247A852FAD3647
At work, we use Novell Groupwise. Calendar syncs fine, but BB Desktop Manager crashes when I sync addresses. I can load one-way from the computer to the BB, but not the other way. I may have a corrupt address, but haven't been able to get it all to work. What do I do to stop this?
Hi when i want to sync my 9700 i am always getting the same unkown error message..DTM is version is 5.0.1.37 The 9700 is up2date as far as dtm is telling me.
I just purchased a BB Bold 9700. I installed the Desktop manager software on my computer, which went well. But when I connect my device, it just hangs, though it shows at the bottom that the device is connected
On connecting the 9700 to the device manager on my laptop, the opening screen is asking me for a password before I can access the manager its self !
I have entered the password that unlocks my keypad to make a call, but its telling me its incorrect ? Other than the keypad access code which is 6 digits I have not entered any other code " infact its a new phone and Im still trying to get my head around it,
Ive called the service provider and they cant help and direct me to the Blackberry website ! Ive looked throughout the site and as yet havent come up with any thing.
I just bought a blackberry 9700 yesterday and i am having trouble with the device manager. After installation, i plug the blackberry using the usb into my laptop (windows 7) and it says Device Manager has stopped working and wants me to close the program. I have uninstalled it and re-downloaded it again and again but the same error keeps happening. I don't know what to do!

After recently updating the Desktop Manager to 5.0.1, the Redirector no longer operates. When opening it, i get the error message."Desktop Redirector has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry..." I've unistalled Destop Manager, reverted back to 5.0.0 and I still have the same issue. This was and is currently setup with my Outlook 2003 (SP3) exchange server to forward my work emails, and it worked up until I updated to 5.0.1 last week.
Hopefully someone can help I'm trying to add apps with DM. When I click the App button I get a popup screen that says I need the latest version of DM and click to update. The link takes me to the BB site for software, but it directs me to the same version of DM I already have. I've even uninstalled and installed again hoping that would help.I read in the BB troubleshooting forum that the most current is 1.0.3 build 23, but the one I'm using is build 19. Which is also the one that is linked to on the site I'm just lost how do I get to build 23?I also posted this in the Mac section a couple days ago, but no response.
I have a BB Bold 9000, and I can't seem to connect to BB Device Manager. It's recognized on my computer as mass storage mode, but it won't connect to Device Manager, and just says Connect your Blackberry device.
My laptop used to be able to detect my blackberry, it now will charge it but it does not give me mass storage options anymore and desktop manager can not detect it. Mass storage mode is turned on. I've uninstalled and re-installed desktop manager but still no luck.
I recently updated my dekstop manager to v 6.0.1.13, but since then it would not start at all. the blackbery screen comes up and then it shows the eror message and asks me to report to microsoft. I have tried uninstalling and installing again, but nothing seems to work. I have xp sp3 installed on my laptop.
When I try to sync my contacts the desktop manager reads all the contacts on the blackberry and on Outlook but when it finally comes to syncing up it says 'unable to access local folders. If your outlook profile uses a hotmail connector, you much create a local data store.' I do not use a hotmail connector so I don't know what to do to make this work.
I have been going through this forum for a while and have tried all of the fixes that I can find to no avail. I have a brand new Windows 7 64-bit machine, that never had the Desktop Manager installed. I have installed version 5.01 off of the web site. Windows is able to see the Blackberry in the Device Manager just fine and I can also see the internal storage available under My Computer and I can access all folders. The Virtual Ports (COM3 and COM4) are also available in Device Manager.
I went through and followed the clean uninstall and reinstall instructions and various other suggestions that I have already seen. For whatever reason, the Desktop Manager still won't see the BB. When going into Options in the Desktop Manager, it shows that USB is selected but still nothing under PIN.I am connected to the straight USB port on the back of the computer and have tried several there.
I see there are some other threads about this point, and recomended links for reading articles on the knowledge databases (some links are not working). In my case, may be, the problem is my Windows Vista is not using the Blackberry USB driver; instead, it uses a standard usb driver. I tried to update it in the Device Manager, by selecting the ones that is found in program FilesCommon FilesResearch In MotionUSB Drivers, but the process always finishes telling me the driver is up to date. The result is, Windows recognices the unit, even if I connect it as a USB unit, and if I connect it for Multimedia sincronization; but BB Desktop Manager does not see it.
I also tried downloading and installing BB USB and Modem drivers from the BB downloads, but that didnīt change anithing.I think this is the source of my problem, because most documents in the knowledge database says I have to see the BB USB driver on de Device Manager. How can I force Windows to use BB USB driver?
