Ok, before you trolls all rabidly defend RIM and jump on me with fingers pointed, yes I dropped the phone and it's all my fault, I didn't stick the phone in a vault until my protective case arrived, etc. etc. there I said it, now you don't have to. Last night around 9pm, I picked up a gorgeous blackberry bold 9700 from walmart for cheap money, an upgrade. 13 hours later, I dropped it, tried to catch it with my foot, and like skipping a rock across a pond, kicked it across my client's driveway full of sharp rocks, face down. Awesome. So now I have these scratches in my screen. Superficial maybe, but even though the LCD itself is perfectly fine (all my pixels are in good order), I have to spend $130+shipping to buy a new LCD unit, just because there's no separate screen cover anymore? That's what it seems like after checking the parts sites.
I noticed right away that the screen on the 9700 is right up front instead of set back behind an extra piece of plastic. I can press pretty hard on my curve 8310's screen without getting funky colors out of the LCD (I think I'd break the screen cover before the LCD would even flinch), but the 9700's screen is very sensitive to pressure.I don't know why RIM would brilliantly cover up their LCD units with hard, replaceable screen covers for years, one of the nicest features of their rugged phones, I thought, then go and do this to me. Yes, you heard right, it's all about me.Any comments? Suggestions? Tell me I'm wrong and show me how I CAN replace the screen cover without replacing the LCD unit? After scouring parts sites, doesn't look like I can.
I cracked the glass LCD lens cover on my 9700 bold and i need to know where i can get the replacement part or get it repaired, everywhere i look they have lens covers for all berrys BUT the 9700...
I have dropped my phone so many times it now needs the main camera lens cover replacing. I cannot find one anywhere. Even genuine cases off ebay do not have it so it must be built on to the board. Any ideas what to do with my phone?
I changed my Berry to white earlier today and now I'm noticing some problems with my network coverage. I didn't change the black part where the SIM and memory card etc. are held. I change the bezel, bottom cover, battery cover and keypad. I get 'SOS' often and it randomly says 'Searching for network', sometimes as soon as I try to send a text. I am on Orange UK and people have had problems in the past few days with them so I'm wondering if it was the housing that caused it?
It's been a LONG time since I've posted here, although I've been on HoFo and RFD a lot more. I just got my Bell Blackberry Bold 9700 and I'm so excited.
Gonna upgrade from a curve 8330. I used a clear plastic cover for my 8330 to preserve it, is there a cheap one available for the 9700, is it recommended because of the rubber/leather style rear cover?
So I have finally gotten my parts from sw-box and I was excited (matte black bezel + top cover + new keypad). The bezel is decent quality. It fits nice but...... it was fragile and I managed to break a tab for some reason? It is now stuck in my phones midplate which I will later remove by taking EVERYTHING out! I've taken out my stock silver bezel so many times the tabs have never broken so I know I wasn't doing anything wrong.
The only problem I didnt have was the battery cover it fits nice and snug, has a nice weight and the BMW etching on it is nice. The top cover... I have compared the stock cover and the sw-box cover and I noticed that the sw-box cover was shorter AND harder than the stock cover. This resulted in a gap on the top part of the phone and EXTREMELY hard force required to press the lock button and mute key.
The keyboard... well it definitely is NOT a oem! i even ordered the "OEM" or any modeled keyboard like on cnn.cn the buttons are bad, lighting is uneven I will be ordering from CNN.cn next to see how everything is there.. I have ordered many parts for my 9630 there and had no problems for anything what so ever
I just purchased an Unbranded bottom cover and it doesn't fit.
Here's a comparison:
The Top one is the one I received and the bottom one is the stock one, Has anyone else have this issue? It looks like the one I got is a full mold. Any recommendation for solutions? Apart from sending it back, I'm in Canada and seller is in Hong Kong.
How do you replace the top cover on the blackberry bold 9700 without removing the entire casing? I've found utube vids on removing the bottom cover but not for the top.
I just bought a new lcd screen to replace the cracked one in my LG Dare, and after putting it in place and reassembling my phone I found that when I turn it on all I see is a dark screen. It has a glow so I think the lcd must be working, but there is no picture, there is no crack, nothing. I've taken it apart again and checked all the connectors and still nothing. Am I missing something or could the new screen be faulty?
I need to replace my iPhone 4 screen and they told me that i need to replace the LCD and the screen because they are glued. That's fine with me. They charge me US$200 ($99.000 chilean pesos) and other guys charge me US$100 ($50.000). The one that charged me US$100 told me that it would be just like new, but i ask him if there are any difference with a replacement. He told me that the brightness could not be the same.
I purchased a display build assembly because mine had cracked and wasn't usable and I watched some videos on how to dissassemble, took me like five hours straight to dissassrmble and reassemble it and everything works, I was shocked cause it did take some manhandling . But the only problem is, I basically have a really nice iPod touch haha. My SIM card is in the phone but it says there is no SIM card. And I tried the whole cut a tiny thin card piece and put it in on top of the SIM card, it doesn't work. I really hope I didn't mess something up in there, andit he tiny hole next to it doesn't let me even pop it out I have to stick a tiny blade in and drag it out. SIM card appears to have no damage, could I of left something unplugged in it?
I just replaced my screen on my 8520 and have checked the connections several times... keeps loading up as a white screen. Don't know what I did wrong... anyone have any clue? I know the screen works because I am took it from another one I had with a blown speaker.
I recently replaced the screen on this phone and since then I have not had a successful boot up with the phone. I have checked all connections inside and everything is intact. Without any display I am able to do a factory reset but cannot 'Recover' or 'Fastboot'. Additionally, I am able to get to USB Bootloader Init but do not know steps to proceed. I am not able to read SD card from USB connection to PC. Senses phone but does not show SD or content. Some clarity about whether this is a salvageable situation or not. I'm thinking that OEM ROM software is toast and needs to be reflashed onto ROM but not sure what the steps are for this.
First, let me say I love my 9000. However, dues to some problems, I may need to replace it. Should I stick with the 9000 or upgrade to something new? All suggestions will be taken into the thought process on this one. I use the phone for personal use only. Not alot of phone calls, some SMS/MMS. Basically, I love to play with my phone. Got a bunch of apps and love to d/l themes. If anyone has some suggestions about what I might want to do,
How many of you have your BB with Screen scratches? Mine got some after lending it to my sister! She talked about replacing the faceplate or buying Displex!
My Bold is stuck on the boot screen (at about 75%). I've tried many battery pulls with and without the SIM and it keeps doing the same thing. I've searched what I think are all the threads on here relating to this, but I'm still stuck. I'm able to connect to the device if I run Loader.exe like a user suggested, but I don't know how/where to get software to load onto the device. All the places I've searched for an OS says I need to go into the device to find information about it. Well, I can't get into the device to do that. So, how do I know what OS to download and install? I really want to exhaust all possibilities before I have to completely wipe the device because I don't have a current backup. But, even if I wipe the device, I'm going to need to download an OS which I can't do now.
Apologies if this was already threaded. I know that many people each have their own preferences but it seemed like for the most part people liked the bigger screen that the 9000 offered. Why did RIM reduce the screen size for the 9700? Will we ever see a blackberry (besides touchscreens) that will have a bigger size again??
This should be easy but has me baffled. To get to Shazam I have to go to app world and then to my world. I want to have it on my home screen but I can't figure out how to move it. Thanks in advance.
Few days back I purchased 2700 classic. Its functionality is fine but the outer screen from where we listened the phone looked not totally fixed. There is a gap between the screen and outer cover. Often When I pressed from that side then it lookd adjust (see attached image) I want to ask whether it is as designed or there is some problem?
I have an LG G3 and every time I am on the lock screen and I cover the sensors (I think it is called the ambient light sensor or proximity I am not sure) the screen turns off, even if I use the physical power button and not double tap to wake. It makes it difficult to use while in an arm band case, also when trying to check it while keeping it inside my back pack since it keeps going off until I take it out and unlock it.
Whenever I press the side volume buttons on my 9700, the screen looks like its being pressed on the side a little ripples show up. I was wondering if anyone elses 9700 does this as well?
My LCD screen recntly broke for my bb bold 9700.I ordered one off ebay, not knowing that there were several screen versions for the same phone.I disposed the broken one, installed the new one, and did not work.I took it to a repair center to see if they could help me out but they need the original version of the screen so that they can replace it.The problem is that I dont have the old screen so I cant tell them which version was it.is there any way I can tell which screen version my bb is intended to use without having the original screen? maybe be SN? bb model?
i have 8530 and i want a case that has a cover for the screen... i hate with a passion the film protectors, for me its impossible to get all the bubbles out and make it look good... So i was wondering if there is a case that will snap on or something to that effect that would cover the screen..? Hopefully they do if not my screen wont be readable for long i dont know how i get so many scratches on it but i do..
