BB Bold :: 9700 Camera Could Not Start - Close Other Apps
Oct 18, 2012
I use a blackberry 9700. Recently, I tried opening my camera but it always says "Camera could not start. Close other applications and try opening again." I've closed all running applications in my phone but the Camera still won't start....
Every time I want to use the Camera on my curve it says (could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the Camera again)? How do I fix this as I am not aware of other app running?
When trying to select my camera, my phone comes up with a black screen then a warning message saying "Could not start the camera, Close all other applications and try opening the camera again". I have gone thru every thing on my phone to make sure there is nothing open or running and cannot find anything.
I have also taken the battery out and started the phone up again. This has happened in the past, it stayed like this for a couple of weeks then all of a sudden one day it just worked, not sure what happened or why, but it would be great to have a quick fix solution to this problem.
I've had my Curve for about 2 years now.. and this is the only problem I've had with it since I got it. I went to use the camera yesterday and I get a message saying: "Could not start the camera. Close other applications and trying opening the camera again." The camera screen loads but it's black and it's not picking up anything....
I buy the blackberry bold 9900 mobile and after 1 month when i use the camera it showing the error message could not start the camera close other application and try opening the camera again i remove the battery from the mobile and restart so many time and i not able to capture the picture . and also update the software.
Model info and OS version: Blackberry 9700 smartphone (3G,Wi-Fi) 6.0 Bundle 1965 v6.0.0.461,Platfrom 6.6.0.137)Apps: Only what comes as default as reset phoneFree space: Memory card = 1.7GB, Device memory = 27.2MBDid a battery pull fix your issue?: No I'm having a problem with my camera on my phone. The error message is 'Could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the camera again.'I've tried to do some research on this problem and all I've found relates to not having enough free space or the camera lense becoming loose. I've checked my free space and I think I have enough and I've tried pressing on my camera lense with no suceess. There are definitely no applications running. I've tried restoring my phone to old backups and then updating but still no luck.
"Could not start camera please close other applications & try opening the camera again"
I keep getting this message whenever i launch my camera. Initially when i bought the Bold 9700 i did not have a problem but after a month or two it started & since then i tried everything but couldnt get it working. Now i have upgraded the software to 5.0.0.536 & it still gives same error......plz help out i am at my wits end....

I DOWNLOADED DESKTOP MANAGER THAT IS NOT PICKING UP THE USB CONNECTION, BUT I CAN SEND MUSIC N PICS 2 MY COMP ECT... I REALLY AM AT MY WITS END I WANT A SOLOUTION THAT IS REALLY GOING TO WORK!
I bought Blackberry 9380 on July 9th..suddenly in mid-august the camera stopped working. It says close other applications before using camera. I went to the Blackberry service centre - they are saying water has been detected in the camera socket. I am very sure I didn't spill any water on my phone neither it fell into water. The cost estimate for repairing the camera is around Rs. 14000/-. Imagine a touch screen, 5 mp phone without operating camera.
My 5 mohts old Torch is now having the problem with the camera. I seeked all the tip from all the forums but none of the solution does the trick. The camera application is saying that "could not start the camera, close other applications.." . The shutter (camera icon) on the screen is grey out and cannot move the cursor to it.The application log is saying: CAMTRTVF failed:status = 10.I have done the qucik reset, quick pull, but it will allow to one picture only once I took first photo then the same problem happes again.I have done the OS wipe out and the same problem still exists.
I just got this phone and the camera doesn't work. I notice this seems to be a common problem with this model from other forums. The website fixes absolutely do not work. I've taken the battery out more than I can care to count. I stuck with a camera that doesn't work on this phone?
It's happened to me a couple times now. I just got this 9700 and it doesn't even warn me the battery is low, it actually has a bar or two in the battery icon and it just completely dies, so I have to plug it in to the USB and wait 5 minutes for it to start up, THEN it says it has a low battery. The phone has a generic wall charger.
when I try to open my camera it says "could not start the camera. Close other applications and try opening the camera again ". But there are no applications open
Tried to play with the Gmail/Contact Lists (see other post), and the bottom line now - something is not right, every other icon in the Home folder is named Browser...I can't stand it. I want to start from scratch. I know how to do a Security Wipe, but that's not what I need. I want to do a computer-style format and get to a like-new status as if I just took the device out of the box. Obviously I can download the newest OS and install, but how do I get all the AT&T specific software/icons?
My blackberry 9700 bold is acting strange, when i'm trying to start it - the blackberry icon and the 0-------100% loading 'list' shows, but its only load to like 10% and then it restarts its self and does the process all over.I've tryed to charge the battery, no luck.i've tryed to "update" through bb desktop software with and without battery, but no luck.I will try to buy a new battery this week
So Verizon replaced my 3 week old 9650 because 9 out of 10 times that I went to launch the camera, the device would go into a soft reboot! Guess what - my 3-day old replacement 9650 is doing the same thing! And yes, I'm just using the new 2GB SD card that it came with.
I tried searching similar topics but could not find relevant ones. everyone seems to have no issue with swapping out sim cards on their bolds. If there is a thread already open, i do apologize. I'm really frustrated and really need my blackberry to be up and running.
I have a Bold 9700, updated to the latest OS, everything works fine. I recently had some issues with my old sim card so I went to my service provider to change it to a new one (same number, same line, same contract, just a new sim card).
As is expected I was told that when my old sim is deactivated, simply insert my new one and I can use my phone as per normal.
However, when I did this, the phone was stuck at the loading screen (the entire bar is white) for eternity (maybe 5 minutes or so) before proceeding to the homescreen. There is no "verifying security" load bar, the phone is entirely frozen, no buttons work, the touch pad does not work, it shows 3G on the top right without the blackberry sign, there is no service provider name, and once in a while the small clock loading logo appears.
I pulled the battery a couple of times and the problem persists. I called the service provider to reactivate the new sim card, they did it 3 times, same problem. I inserted the sim card into other non-blackberry phones i have and it works on all other phones. When I put back my old deactivated sim card into the 9700, the phone starts up fine within 2 - 3 minutes, "verifying security" bar as per normal, everything moves, just no service connection. When i turn on the phone without a sim card it starts up fine as well with a message at the top saying insert sim card.
I even went down to the blackberry technical service department of my service provider and they were of no help. all they could say was "we have to wipe your phone and reload the software" which I am trying to avoid and I can do myself anyways.
My phone is unlocked, comes unlocked here in singapore, I even checked using the "MEPD" method, all disabled.
This has been very frustrating, especially when I need my blackberry for work. What is wrong with my phone? How can the simple replacement of a sim card be so difficult on a blackberry when it is problem free for ANY other phone I have ever used? I am now dreading when I have to travel abroad for business and require a foreign sim card.
