My 9650 Bold has stopped recognizing word or name prompts for voice dialing. It still works for phone numbers but not names like "John Smith" or words like "home". My dealer tried to correct it by removing the battery and restarting the phone. When it starts it shows a java uncaught exception for java.lang.NullPointerException
View 1 RepliesVoice dialing on my Bold 9700 has worked for a long time. The phone is only 2.5 months old.Since last night though, when I click voice dialing, it just says "Scanning contacts", it reaches 100% very quickly, and closes. It never prompts me to say a command.I've tried battery pulls, going into settings -> Voice dial, changing things, and it still happens. If I try to Adapt my Voice, it just scans the contacts, and closes like above.It's rather strange because I haven't made major changes to my phone. I'm still using the main oem theme, and I have absolutely no programs running in the background. (I've held the menu button to see what's open.)

For some reason my voice dialing has changed so that now it looks up contacts in last name first order i.e. if I say john smith it looks for a last name "john" This is a new phenomenon that seemingly has been initiated by the device without intervention from me and I can't seem to get it corrected. the contacts folder is sorted by first name.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Bold 9000, and sometimes the bugger just drives me nuts.This has only happened to me twice now, but it's a pretty costly issue..My voice dialing seems to randomly turn on, I have no idea what is leading up to it, I hadn't had my headphone jack in it for a couple of hours.But then, the next morning, my alarm doesn't go off because the stupid voice dialing was activated [as you can see, this is a costly issue because it has lead to me missing a shift].Anyways, all the posts that I have read the solution has been to disable the side key.. View 5 Replies View RelatedI was using WM for many years, but now the BB9700 is my choice.I have several contacts from different countries in my phonebook, therefore characters like čřžýá and others are common in my phonebook. When I push the Voice dialing button, there will appear "Scanning Contacts, please wait...", it will go till 26% and then it just exits and no voice dialing occurs. When I remove all my contacts and I will create a new contact, the voice dialing works well.The solution to remove all my contacts which contains special characters is not acceptable (I have over 600 contacts).

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am a new BB user and have asked several people how to speed dial into my office's automated voice mail system to retrieve messages. Previously on standard cell phones, I would dial the phone number, insert "ppp" for pauses while the auto attendant would prompt the next step. There are 3 series of number to get all the way in. Example would be: 800-555-5555ppp555ppp5555ppp5555 and I would be in to retrieve messages.
I have tried a few different options and have be unsuccessful.My carrier is AT&T.BB is a Bold 9700.Does anyone have any suggestions??
Would be interested in your comments on the voice quality (call clarity, etc) of the BB Bold 9650...both in the ear speaker and to those with whom you are talking. I had heard that the voice quality was not so good on the prior Tour model and also found this to be true on an in-store test at Verizon. Would like to know your thoughts about how it is on the newer model Bold 9650.

I had a curve 8330, then 8350, then tour 9630 and all worked fine with all alerts incuding a VOICE MAIL ALERT...BUT THE Bold 9650 No such luck! what the heck...no more voice mail alerts? I have to look for that stupid smaller than small icon.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried to make a call while wi-fi was on and connected, it wouldn't go through. likewise, when someone tried to call me when wi-fi was on, they went straight to voicemail. i tested it when i got home and same thing...wi-fi on, no voice. wi-fi off, voice calls work just fine.the only think i can think of is that i have skype installed but not logged in yet, so maybe it's trying to make calls that way? i'm going to be kinda bummed if i have to turn off wi-fi to use the phone.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have been having a issue lately with my voice service turning off. The first time I was not able to make calls however could use data. Today both data and voice shut off. I was not able to restore connections. The only way to get them back working was to go in settings, mobile networks, then perform diagnostic test which usually fixes the issue. I was told today by a VZW rep that this is happening because I have wifi turned on. Is this correct?
I have tried deleting it and re-adding it (several times). Had the Sprint store try different options including a reeboot in their system. Had GoDaddy check their system. Pulled the battery while phone was on, and off. Nothing is working! It is the account I receive time sensitive work on. It is a Bold 9650 and all my other email accounts (even from Go Daddy) are working fine.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAll audio on my Bold 9650 has suddenly stopped functioning - no ring tones, alerts, speakerphone, music or voice recordings can be heard. The phone is not muted and the volume is turned up. Hard reset and soft reset have not fixed it. Software was upgraded to 5.0.0.1006 after problem started and did not resolve it. Device self test performed and verified that no audio functions were working. Also, there's an icon that I don't remember seeing before showing below my EDGE indicator. It is a white circle with a cross through it, like the sight symbol when you are focusing a gun or camera. I can't find the icon on any icon list to indicate what it means.
