hey there does anyone know how to change the zone /country u live on the phone, i got given a ph and was obviously sourced from china and i need to use it in Australia where i live and it wont work because it is set to dial the china area code not Australia area code, phone is a blackberry bold 9000
View 4 RepliesThere is one thing that drives me insane about my BB 9000 and that is when displaying the time it takes into count the time zone. When I travel my BB is also my clock. So when landing into an airport that is in a different time zone I have to take that into count. For example I live in CST, so landing into a EST city I have to go into my option and change the time zone from CST to EST. If I don't then I am am an hour slow.
Now I see there is an option in Options => Date/Time called "Date/Time Source". I have this selected to "Network". This doesn't seem to help. I do see that it updates based on the network but the time zone is still in effect. For example;
Time Zone: CST
Time: 2:30 PM
Network time: 3:30 PM
Is there a way to force the BB not to take into count time zone?
I live in South Africa. I do not find a South African time zone in the list. If I use another city in the +2-hour time zone, my clock time is 1 hour fast. Does it matter to the other applications if a different time zone is selected? Can one perhaps download an augmented time zone list?

I would book theatre tickets in New York at 8pm and put that in my calendar. When my BB Curve updates the time to New York time from South African time, all my appointments also change by the 7 hour difference.
Is there a way of keeping the calendar entries at the entered time when the phone updates it's time zone. This also happens when updating the time manually on the phone.
If the berry rings while in the holster and I press "up" on the volume rocker, the incoming call alerts stop (stops ringing and vibrating), however, the call is not terminated.If I press "down" on the volume rocker instead, the call is ended and the call is sent to voicemail.Additionally, if I first press "up" to stop the ringing/vibrating and THEN press "down", the caller is NOT sent to voicemail.With the design of the Bold 9000 and my PDAIR holster, it's pure luck which button my finger hits when retrieving the berry after it starts vibrating/ringing.Is there any way I can change the behavior of the volume "down" rocker so it stops ending calls? It is amazing that this can happen without any warning. This is definitely not the first time I'm loosing all my data. It's so frustrating that I'm considering strongly to leave BlackBerry and switch to another make.Also a helpdesk you can call to and speak to a real person seems to be not in place at BlackBerry. Can any of you experts out there teach me how to change my itunes account to another country? I register the account under the country of Malaysia, unfortunately there are applications that were not available to me because of that. Friends told me that I can change it easily in the profile section but it is not (or maybe I dont know how). It will verify my credit card info and say something like "Credit card invalid in that country" or something like that.

Apart from 'rooting' the phone ( rather apt term as Aussies, the word 'root' has also other meanings) which I assume I can remove the native apps.What other parts of the phone are customised for a specific country? Apparently the guy who had it, had it locked to a BES and now I cannot disable my password protection settings.
