Asha 30/40 Series :: Unwanted Packet Data Transfers?
Sep 5, 2011
I have a 6700s. I have set packet data connection to 'When needed' even though I never need it and actually don't ever want it. However it is activated by something and I can see that data has been transferred.
I have looked at the applications that are running. There are three listed. One is the menu and the other is the Home icon. The other is 'Gig finder'. Where that came from I have no idea, and I don't want it.
Four questions:
1) How do I get rid of Gig Finder? It is not listed under Applications.
2) Could that have been causing the packet data communication?
3) Is there some way I can prevent all applications from using packet data, at least without asking my consent first?
4) If not, then is there some other phone I can get that allows me to control what happens rather than the applications being in control?
Is there any way to disable data packet? Because I want to disable it to prevent me from data cost, but allow me to use MMS. In manual, it didn't had any instruction to disable it. If there is no way to disable it, how do I delete data profiles? Because it has 3 profile, MMS, WAP and internet.
Any time I try to go online on my Nokia 2730 this is the error I get, I have got 2 lots of settings from my operator Orange and activated them, One for MMS and the other for GPRS and I have an unlimited data plan?
I am using NOKIA 5800 XPRESS MUSIC, the problem is, i have recently updated my nokia store, from then onwards when ever i open the nokia store all the images that are seen in nokia store are being downloaded/ saved to the gallery
I have a 6700 slide, and I have problems with the memory. The phone says the memory is full, even though I removed all the files I can, and cleared the cache in the internet browser. When i remove things the amount of memory doesn't change at all. Now I can't take photos, and I can't put any music in my phone at all, it's very frustrating!
I read that it could be a good idea to hard reset the phone to free up memory. But then I'll need to do a backup on my data, but how do I do that? It's basically the contacts i need to backup, since I sort of removed all the other files.... I'm using a Mac, so I can't use the PC suite program.
I would like to dedicate a SIM for calling and texting and other SIM just for data. But I have heard that it will turn off data when there's a call on the other SIM.You cannot run voice call on 1 SIM and data on another SIM at same time ?I just want to use Nimbuzz and want to stay connected. Is it not possible using Nokia Asha 200 ?
My phone has about 90mb of space by what I can see. I have installed a microSD card and that has 4gigs.
My problem is that I can't seem to install anything for want of space. My pictures are on the card, my music is on the card. Even so my card has about 1.65GB of free space yet I can figure out how to move applications to the card. I installed the Suite today for Windows and one of the things it does it bug me to update programs like Maps... sounds good in theory but my phone filled up half way thru the installation process. how I can offload everything to the memory card?
Nokia 2730 classic is having a bluetooth problem. Every time when I transfer data from 2730c to any others mobiles it just got hanged and I need to restart it. After that, transfer is successful. Few days ago I updated my 2730c to latest software( from RM -578 v10.45 to RM-578 v10.47) from nokia care centre thinking it could have fixed the previous bluetooth issue, but no it didn't.
I bought an unbranded 6700 classic on amazon and I tried to disable internet access completely.
So in the first place, there is no option to disable packet data or internet access at all... I can only choose between on demand and always online... thx for that!
I tried to make new hoax profiles with made up usernames and passwords for those data links and access points and set them as defaults but this phone always just connects to the internet by edge after all...
I also can't just delete my provider's access points which seem to be sitting on the sim card or however that works...
if there is a "reliable" method to block data/internet access? On sony ericsson devices there is at least some kind of workaround which works by setting the access points to ask for a password before they actually connect.. but in this phone there doesn't seem to be any option to protect myself to go online by accident..
Ever since the wi-fi at my work stopped working (whole separate issue which I still haven't figured out), I noticed my cellular data usage spike up significantly. Now obviously this shouldn't be surprising, as I've had to use cellular data instead of wi-fi, duh. However, all I really used my phone for at work was to check email, and the attachments were set to never automatically downloaded. I started analyzing my AT&T bill and noticed random large chunks of cellular data usage: 3-4 mb during the middle of the night, 15mb during the day, etc. The other day, my phone transferred nearly 40mb for 3 hours straight! I called up AT&T tech support, and they eventually put me all the way to Motorola second tier support, and yet no one could tell me what was going on. All they could tell me was that Android phones normally transfer data here and there in order to sync. BS -- the only account I have on sync is my gmail email and work calender. I have ZERO social applications set up with Motoblur.
After 3 hours on tech support, I gave up and decided to start toggling some settings. I turned on "Sync over Wi-Fi only" for data delivery of social applications, and this seems to have fixed it. The past two days my AT&T usage logs only show a few KB here and there. My battery also seems to last longer now, as it's not being forced to transfer data over 3G/4G for hours on end! Since I had no social applications set up with Motoblur, this makes no sense. Why would it still need to be transferring that much data??? Anyone else experience this? I wonder if someone at Motorola technical support could tell me exactly what was being sent to Motoblur.
know if the Asha 302 auto keylock feature have the option to ask for a security code to unlock?( I am considering the Asha 302 to replace the C3-00 which does not have this option. My old ( low cost) 1616 has this security feature.)
I purchased Asha 302 about 20 days ago and while going through the features when I recorded some voice using voice recorded output was distorted, I contacted Nokia support through email and was told to restore factory setting. After doing the same I recorded and played AMR file it was fine but as soon as I received a call and then I checked the same recorded AMR file it was againt distorted. I reported same to Nokia support and was told to contact Nokia Care Centre which I visited yesterday there NCC people re-installed the software/OS but the problem persists. I was told that phone has to be sent back to company. I am having another Nokia C2 phone which is fine and no such problem there in that model.
i recently saw an upgrade for asha 200 when i try to up grade it , the suit stops working?Join my movement to bring a change in NOKIA for good by supporting my [URL]
it possible to get a Series 40 (S40) handset, such as 6100 or 6700, to automatically sync over the air to cloud services such as Google? I know there are many ways to do this with S60 Symbian handsets (Mail for Exchange, various 3rd party apps) but not sure on the S40?
On my Asha 302 the bottom half of the keyboard is hardly lit up and difficult to see. Only the top 2 rows are appropriately lit up, the bottom 2 rows are almost dark. Is this a general design flaw or an issue with my phone.
Is it possible to use the contact sync with the Asha phones (302, 303, 200, 201, 300, etc.)? I am unable to see the option and under synchronisation and backup I am being asked to enter server details etc. which I don't have. On my other Nokia phones (S60 or S^3) they all have a Contact Sync functionality.
I recently brought a Nokia 5230 and I have a contract that allows picture messaging. The problem I have is if I try to send a picture message I keep getting the same message:'Packet Data: - Packet Data connection not available'.It's the same for connecting to the internet, has anybody else experienced this or can tell me how to resolve the problem please.
I recently bought the Nokia 7230 unlocked in Germany because it really appealed to me in terms of features and the right price. When I returned home to the US and dropped in my AT&T SIM card, everything works okay except for any packet data or internet connection. Whenever I try to access any sort of data connection, it shows "Subscribe to Packet data". I have an unlimited Data plan with AT&T which allows internet access. Now, I wasn't expecting a perfectly smooth transition bringing a Europe-market phone to the US where the 7230 isn't even sold. After a 3-way phone call with AT&T and Nokia USA, they felt that because I could not edit or add Access point settings and AT&T doesn't sell the 7230, there was no way to make the packet data connection work.Does that conclusion sound right? It's not a huge setback to lose internet but I was looking forward to the upgrade in internet capabilities from my previous 6350.
The phone only shows both contacts that are in the phone and the ones in SIM. I can't remove the SIM ones one by one... Do I have to put SIM card in another phone and erase contacts in SIM or is there any other way. I couldn't find it anywhere in options.
My phone doesn't stay in G3 connection for the most part of the day. There's neither G nor H on the screeb or there's only G with no white box. The connection stays on for some minutes at highest. Right now there's no letter on the screen. This is extrmely rustrating! I can't access the net or send whatsapp messages

I have set my e-mail account on my E72.Up until yesterday, the packet data connection was always on (the "3G" arrows logo was always on the upper-left corner), and new messages/updates were syncing on "real-time".Yesterday suddenly, the connection stopped, and now in order to retrieve new messages, I need to connect manually - and yet, after the sync process ends, it disconnect automatically. How can I set back the permanent connection?
On a fairly regular basis, once an hour approx, my N86 beeps and a message appears on the screen stating that a " data packet connection received". This also happens when I'm on a call and beeps in my ear. This is only a minor annoyance but an annoyance nevertheless. Any idea what this is and what I can do about it?
I have a Nokia N97 and carrier service through AT&T. I subscribe to a monthly packet data plan which I have been using with my N97 for several months without issue. Several days ago my phone was no longer able to connect to the internet using my packet data connection. I was only unable to use the data connection with certain applications. The data connection would not work with the Ovi Store shortcut, Nokia Maps, the Nokia Web application, or the AP News widget. However, I was able to receive emails on Nokia Messaging through my data connection, and I was able to run my Fring application on it as well. I performed a hard reset which did not fix the problem.
I tried to adjust my network mode under the connectivity setting from Dual Mode to GSM, but that also did not have any effect. I then tried to run the setting wizard through phone setup to have it define my operator settings for internet, ect. After the wizard updated my settings I am now able to access the internet through the Nokia web application using my data connection. But maps and the ovi store still cannot connect using this connection.I have tried changing the connection settings under the maps application, but this has made no difference. Any help or advice would be very appreciated.
i have a Nokia C6-00 which keeps on connecting to mys service provider's packet data. So many times i have disconnected it in its Connection Manager Menu but it keeps on connecting automatically. It is really annoying since ts consume so much power that makes me to recharge the phone everyday,. I have checked for the Apps I have to find the culprit for the problem, but I I still don't know what application is responsible for that.Is it possible that I just delete my Internet configurations with my service provider?
