I had no problems syncing before and this is the first time I am encountering this. Error message reads, "The iPhone could not be synced because the sync session failed to start."

May 22, 2012I recently got my iPhone 3gs out of recovery mode by using itunes on a different computer. Now it won't sync with my itunes, always coming up with the error message 'the iPhone '_____ iPhone' could not be synced because the sync session failed to start.' I'm using the latest itunes and the latest software on my phone with windows vista.

I have looked at article TS2529 and followed the steps. My iPhone will sync and backup with another computer with the same version of iTunes, so the problem must be with my computer or iTunes. I have previously synced and backed up fine with this computer, so I suspect there is an issue with corruption of iTunes data files. Should I re-install iTunes, or is there a way to delete the data for my phone that iTunes holds and try syncing again?

Jul 3, 2010While we were on vacation my brother in law upgraded to an iPhone 4 and I bought his old 3G and jailbroke it using Spirit. I also unlocked it to use on TMobile. Now that I'm home, I wanted to sync it or back it up so that I wouldn't lose apps and such. I don't have any music or videos on it but would like to do that eventually also.
1. I tried to sync some TV shows and it said that this iPhone was associated with another iTunes library so the sync would erase what was on the phone and replace it with what's on my Mac. My question here is, does it just erase things like videos and music, or will it also torch my apps and erase the jailbreak?
2. I notice when you right click the iPhone icon in the left side pane in iTunes there's a "Back up" option. Does that backup all of my apps to iTunes without erasing data on the phone or messing up the jailbreak?

2) If I ever want to update to a newer apple firmware down the road, I can't believe you have to restore the whole phone to do this! Then you lose all your jailbroken content! Isn't there a way to back up the jailbroken stuff? Its super easy to jailbreak it, you would think you could uninstall the jailbreak just as quick, but I guess that isn't the case.

I have tried to sync my phone to both my old desktop and my brand new laptop running the lastest version of iTunes but I keep geeting the same error. I have also tried deleteing the old backup file from the backup folder I'm trying to backup my old 3GS because my friend game me a new 3GS in perfect condition and I would like to transerfer everything over to it so I can start using it. My contacts, text messages, and photos are the most important things I want to transfer to the new phone. This shouldnt be hard to do but I get the error everytime I try to sync my current phone.

Mar 14, 2012I can't sync my iphone. I've never had problems with iPhones I've had in the past, just with my 4S. What happens is it stays on "waiting for sync to start" and eventually times out saying it failed to sync.I restarted my computer and phone..still having the problem.I tried syncing via cable, rather than over wi-fi. I even turned off wi-fi on both my mac and the phone...didn't resolve the issue I restored my phone to a back up. .no dice again I restored my phone and set it up as a new iPhone...it synced TWICE, but every time since it has had the same problem.....so basically, no dice.
