Dec 6, 2014i haven't dropped my phone for this to happen, the lines just appeared on my screen first going horizontal then vertical and they keep switching like that. i let it charge overnight and i restarted it but the lines remain.

I did absolutely nothing in order to have these appear. I tried to restart my phone but it only made it worse. Sep 2, 2010it's been happening to me a bit recently, eventually the vertical stripes go away but for now they've been coming on. if i take a photo that looks like it has vertical stripes, it doesnt come out when the photograph is taken. Anybody else? is this just a flaw with 4.0, 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 or is something hardware related?
Either way, using my phone unlocked in Austria so it will have to wait before I replace it if it's hardware. Just curious though, don't remember this happening before.

Apr 9, 2012My I phone 4 has 4 purple stripes taking up the whole of the screen. This has happened before ( around 2 weeks ago ). I tried powering down and resetting. The phone had plenty of charge on each occasion that this fault appeared. When it happened previously I left it at home for a week whilst I was away on holiday and when I returned the battery had completely discharged itself. I plugged in the charger and switched the phone on and the fault disappeared so I'm hoping the same happens again.

Apr 23, 2012Have updated the firmware version a few days ago. It was running on 4.X(?) and updated to 5.1.
2 days ago, que screen misunderstood some touchs, and yesterday the first row of the keyboard, when in vertical orientation, just stop working.
Had to restore, in order to access the phone, once I couldn't type the password (althogh all keys worked well on emergency call).
Now, keyboard is fully functional in horizontal orientation, but the first row doesn't work on vertical.
More information: the screen has been replaced and it has emoji installed.

Jun 23, 2010I dropped my phone yesterday. I had just taken the cover off of it a day or two ago. (the cover is back on). Anyway, the phone seems to be stuck in vertical view. I can't switch to landscape/horizontal view. I have a game that you hold the phone vertically, and lean it left and right to move the character. The character now just zooms to the right, like I'm leaning the phone that way hard. I don't get it.
I have done the hard shut downs. I even installed the 4.0 software last night to see if that would resync my settings.

Apr 3, 2012I've had my iPhone 4 since Sept 2011, so I know it wasn't like this before. When I play a video on my phone that I recorded and rotate the phone so it is horizontal the video shrinks to just the middle of the screen. I've played these same videos countless of times before and they always filled the screen when the phone was horizontal.
Also, I have tried zooming in on the video by double tapping the screen but it just makes the screen too big and cuts off people's heads or other things.
