IPhone 4s :: IOS 7.1.1 / Keeps Turning Off By Itself Requiring To Reboot
Jun 6, 2014
my iphone 4 s keeps shutting down . ive reset my settings and restored my phone and everything . it worked for a day.. and then started doing it again...most times it freezes,,, and slowly goes black until its off, requiring me to reboot it ( home screen button, and lock button) it turns back on ..
and other times it just shuts off completely.. and illl reboot it again only for it to happen a few hours later...
There are 4 people that I work with that updated to the IPhone 4S over the last few months. They are all reporting that they have had issues with their internet connection randomly dropping and iMessage not working (due to the internet being down). I thought it "sucked to be them".
I had a IPhone 4 that worked perfectly. I upgraded to the IPhone 4S (32gb) last week and now I'm having the same issue as the other people at work are having.
We all have iOS 5.1 and all on the AT&T network. Our phones say we have 4 or 5 bars of signal and "4G" internet (not really 4G, but that's another story). The only way you can tell something is wrong is that you can't browse the internet, you don't get any iMessages, no emails get synced and none of your internet dependent apps will work but the voice telephone and standard SMS work just fine.
If you try sending a SMS message to another IPhone user, it tries to send via iMessage and fails. It doesn't try to send via SMS.
In order to get your internet back up and working, you have to reboot your phone. This usually happens once or twice a day for me. Some of my co-workers have to reboot their phones up to 4 times a day.
I searched around google and found people with a similar problem, but it was related to iOS prior to 5.1 and/or having a SIM PIN set. All of us are on iOS 5.1 and don't have a SIM PIN.
One common demoninator is that we all upgraded from IPhone 4 to 4S and restored our IPhone 4 backups to our new IPhone 4S. Don't know if the issue is related.
Twice in the past week I got my phone out and it was off and unresponsive. I had to do soft boot with power volume down to get the phone working. This is something that I have not experienced with other android phones. I am on Verizon with stock Galaxy S6 running 5.0.2.
Is this a defective phone or some application causing problems. What steps can I take to troubleshoot the problem?
Having my phone randomly stop working is unacceptable as this is my primary line. I can't afford to miss calls. I need to get this fixed.
A few hours ago I noticed that I had no signal on my phone (which is strange because I usually have good signal at work), and on closer inspection I could see the NFC symbol appearing/disappearing constantly in quick succession. After a few mins my phone then rebooted itself, and since then its been booting up, the NFC symbol does its flashing on/off for a few mins, then the phone resets again and the cycle continues!
Every so often, my Nexus 5 (stock, unrooted and un-rommed) will freeze (normally when playing either Castle Clash or Asphalt 8) and i'll have to force reboot. This is not a problem. It happens.
My issue is when it powers back on, Wi-Fi will be on, even though it wasnt on before the force reboot. This has only been happening since 4.4.3. While it's not a major issue, it is a minor annoyance. Ive checked my Wi-Fi settings and everything is normal. Is there anything i can do to sort this?
Because the iPhone 4 will record video in 720p, does that mean the videos will take up more space than usual? Right now I have an 8gb iPhone 3G with 1.5 gb free, but Im unsure if I should get the 16 or 32gb because of the video recording and possible other needs for extra storage.
While answering a text, my phone started having a box around the button I was pushing.I had to double-tap each button to get it to enter.I can't scroll at all. What happened??
Why is Apple requiring my date of birth in order to download free apps to my iPhone?Apparently this is a recent change in their policy.Who came up with this stupid idea?Obviously Apple just wants to uee my DOB for marketing purposes (or even worse to sell it to other companies). If I would have known that Apple would require my personal information I would have gotten an Android phone instead.
Why are most downloads from the adroid market requiring wi-fi to dowload? The other day I tried to download an app that was less then 1mb and it kept telling me to use wifi becuase of the size of the file. Is there any way to change this?
I have a blackberry pearl 8120Lately, I lock phone, put in pocket and when I check later, Screen pops up where I have to re-enter my pin to get in, and the reception signal is SOS or something (in red writing)
I just want to take an informal poll, as what happened to me is probably somewhat random and is certainly not repeatable. I had never needed to do a battery pull (owned one since launch day) on my D3 until about 3-4 days ago (frozen, not responding to anything, including the power button). Now since then It has happened twice more. 2 times it happened using Gtalk (video chat), and once playing angry birds.
Whenever I tap the lock button located at the top of the handset, it seems to only invoke the lock mechanism to stop error entries or calls when in your pocket, it's not locking handset to a point where you require password? I know I can lock it via the bb key but that's tidious. Anyone else experiencing this or annoyed with it?
my wife and I both have an AT&T Lumia 920. We both setup Kids Corner and are both experiencing the exact same behavior as what users are complaining about here: [URL]
To summarize, Kids Corner requires our PIN to get access to it, if enough time has passed for the PIN timeout to come into effect. This was completely unexpected for us both. We feel like it is a bug & not the proper behavior of this feature based on the way it was marketed. It seems to us to somewhat defeat the purpose, or at least be more cumbersome to use with the current behavior.
I am seeking an official response from Microsoft or Nokia, as to whether the behavior we are expecting is indeed the intended behavior. If so, we are certainly interested in a feature enhancement that would give the user an extra option in the Kids Corner settings to disable the requirement for a PIN at any time (regardless of the normal PIN timeout setting).
Reboot complete (main screen/carrier logo) First Time and Device Usable Second Time Minutes:Seconds 3:13 - 3:37 Custom Theme 3:11 - 3:25 Default Carrier Theme Theme's have no real effect from what I've noticed. Unless you have a really big gfx intense theme. 3:13 - 3:23 Password 3:13 - 3:25 Password + wallpaper on mem card 7:09 - 7:21 "Memory Clean Turned on" + Theme + password + wallpaper on mem card Re-test (that was way too long) 6:36 - 6:45 "Memory Clean Already On" + Theme + password + wallpaper on mem card. 3:23 - 3:45 "Encrytion Media Card Only" + BerryWeather + Theme + password + wallpaper on mem card + Mem Compression Memory Clean and Encrytion (Device Memory Enabled) either one of those on will increase reboot time by atleast 2-3mins. When enabling Device Memory encryption Memory Clean is automatically turned on and can't be disabled. So in my testing reboot time was between 6-7mins. My current config setup is that last test. Since Password is on, I see no need for Device Memory encryption to be on. Without the password you can't gain access to device files. ZonaSnap , QuickLaunch, Blink all preloaded during each test. 8 Email Accounts, about 80 read emails, and 100+ sms, 41 apps anyone that is getting 1-2min reboot please post your settings.
How much are the fast reboot or reboot/kill software really needed on ICS?im finding that even on a large exclude list there are still apps that run, that i dont really need and eat up some of the interal memory.is there any other way other than rebooting all the time to get rid of them? Will rebooting drain more battery energy?
I got my Nexus 5 on the 2nd of this month. I'm on Android 4.4.4. Just today, I was out and about and I realized that, although I was going into settings and turning Wi-Fi off, it just kept turning it right back on! (I had been using the Wi-Fi at the mall, then later I went to a friend's house and connected to my friend's Wi-Fi, which did not work.) So, I turned on my data, only for it to turn off after I guess about 30 seconds. I turned it back on, went on WhatsApp, in the middle of replying to a text from my friend it goes off yet again! What the... So, I went into settings and turned data on, and Wi-Fi off. As I watched, the Wi-Fi switched itself back on, and, predictably, even though there were no wireless networks to connect to, my data turned off as well.
This is really inconvenient. What could be causing the problem? I don't think I've downloaded any apps recently, but they do sometimes update. It was working fine on Thursday, but I've had my data off since then. I also booted into Safe Mode, and the problem doesn't seem to persist.
I had a contract with Vodafone over 2 years ago and decided on the BlackBerry Storm 9500 handset . After 6 Months of receiving the phone it developed a fault, i have returned it for repairs on a number of occasions and the reoccurring problem has never been solved & fixed . After eighteen months the phone will still not turn on and when it does work it turns off within one hour of it working, i have been to the Vodafone shop in Torquay South Devon and they supplied me with a new battery to try but it still switches itself off . I ave talked to Vodafone and i was told a fault has been found on this particular model of handset. After 24 months of having this contract phone i have now upgraded to a BlackBerry Torch . I would like to return the 9500 handset to get a free full repair or a replacement as i now need to use both phones. This phone has also had problems with freezing and locking up
Is it possible to disable all the telephony functions of the Xperia Ray and still be able to listen to FM radio ? (to improve battery life)
"Plane mode" is unfortunately not an option as it doesn't allow listening to the radio... (whereas it allows you to connect yourself to a Wi-fi network or to receive GPS signals, for instance) Would be great if there was a widget "Enable/Disable GSM networks" or something like that, as there is for other functions... but I couldn't find such a thing.
I attemped to update my phone today to the 5.1 version. After 15 min I was given a error stating that update could not be completed. Now my phone will only display a pic of a USB cable and the ITunes symble. I have tried a hard reboot however it will not respond. No red bar across the top to slide only the pic..Also tried plugging back into computer and ITunes nor computer will acknowledge my phone..
My new iPhone 4S won't do anything after trying to sync it with iTunes. First I was told it could not because disk space full (I deleted lots of things), then it gave an error code. The screen is black with the round thing going round and round. I tried to reboot, got the appl symbol, but now the rounfd hourglass thing is just going round and round and round like its thinking or trying to shut down but cant. What should I d The phone is only 2 days old and worked fine before I tried to sync it.
I started out with a search, but wasn't able to find any oters with my issue, so here goes.Since two days ago I left my iphone 4 on the edge of my bed with the charger connected. At that time it was running iOS 5.0. In the morning my phone had shut down and I was unable to boot it up again. I tried holding the "Power" and the "Home" buttons simultaneously to try and reset, but to no avail.I also tried to reconnect it to the charger and let it sit there for a couple of hours. I tried 3 different chargers, still nothing.
After about 5 hours I tried the reset combination again and the phone activated (with a 100% battery status) and I was able to use it normally again, yet after 1 hour it crashed again and wouldn't activate for another couple of hours.I was able to turn it on a third time and quickly connected it to iTunes, which updated it to iOS 5.1. Sadly, it died again after an hour and now I'm unable to boot it anymore, no matter how long I wait.I know it isn't the battery seeing before the issue started it would easily go for 2-3 days. The Iphone is 14 months old and has never been dropped.
Last night I was playing Angry Birds, it froze on screen so I did the Off+Home reset. The screen went black, and it has not lit up or been able to finish a restore since. iTunes recognizes it as being in restore mode when doing the Off+Home combo, but it will not finish the restore. It keeps giving Error 1601. The phone has not been dropped that I'm aware of, and is in pretty decent physical condition. I was using it all day without issue, and then this happened. It was just updated yesterday before using it all day.
My iPhone is stuck in a guess what is just a reboot loop. It gets stuck on the apple logo for maybe 5 minutes then it goes to the spinning wheel for another 5 minutes ( wheel doesn't spin just stuck ) then goes back to the apple logo again. I've tried holding both the home and power button to reset it but all that does it restart the process. I've put in DFU mode to restore but my computer and a friends computer both won't recognize it ( also tried to cables ) so I can't restore it. Was in an internet cafe and tried to connect to the internet but it wasn't working so I thought I'd just give it a restart. On starting up I get the "Connect to iTunes" screen. By fluke I managed to get home and then connected the phone and all happy. Thought I don't want this to happen again - so turned it off to check. Sure enough on reboot - Connect to iTunes. Even flick to Airplane mode - Connect to iTunes. iPhone bought outright in Australia and unlocked by Optus from their network. I normally use a Three sim in the phone - which shows it is unlocked. Got a Claro SIM in Argentina. It is prepaid. 3GS with latest OS
I'm having a couple of problems with my jailbroken phone. I'm using a 16GB 3GS, on the Rogers network. 500MB data plan. Blackr4in was used to JB.
First problem: Wifi no longer works, ever. Before, I could reboot and it would work, but now it never seems to work. I've seen "Reset Network Settings" as a solution, but I've tried this two times, both times I had to enter DFU mode to restore the phone as it would not boot. Is anyone else having this problem? I don't NEED wifi, but it seems odd that I can't get it working at all.
Second Problem: I can't get tethering to work. I've never had it working, so I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. Tethering is enabled on the phone. I'm using Windows 7 on two different PCs with iTunes installed (along with all drivers). When I plug in the USB cable, I don't see any option to use the phone as a modem, and it's not done automatically. I don't have BT on either computer. What am I doing wrong.
