I just want to take an informal poll, as what happened to me is probably somewhat random and is certainly not repeatable. I had never needed to do a battery pull (owned one since launch day) on my D3 until about 3-4 days ago (frozen, not responding to anything, including the power button). Now since then It has happened twice more. 2 times it happened using Gtalk (video chat), and once playing angry birds.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI pulled my phone out of my pocket today and had a white screen with "JVM Error 545" on the screen with "Reset" under that. I've clicked reset I've done battery pulls and it just keeps going to that same screen.
From what I've read I need to re-install my OS, but I've only got a Mac and I don't think I can install OSs from a Mac.I've tried plugging it into my computer and it automatically brings up the Desktop Manager, but it doesn't ever make a connection to the phone. I don't see a way out of this...
Why are most downloads from the adroid market requiring wi-fi to dowload? The other day I tried to download an app that was less then 1mb and it kept telling me to use wifi becuase of the size of the file. Is there any way to change this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got the update on Saturday and it has utterly ruined my phone. Opening an app causes it to crash. It generally freezes every few minutes. Phone calls work so long as the rest of the phone doesn't freeze while they are happening. The battery drains in a few hours while the phone isn't succeeding to do anything. How can I revert to the last version? I cannot afford to have an unoperational phone until the OS gets fixed.
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy search app (the one you get to by pressing the search button while on the home screen) would often freeze for 5-15 seconds after I had typed a few letters. This is fixed by disabling apps as something it searches for. Open the search app, press the menu button, select search settings, then searchable items, and uncheck the box next to Apps. Whatever causes apps to take forever to load when looking in the Apps section of the phone's settings also causes them to take an unreasonable time to load in Google's search app.

When texting or filling out forms on browser, whenever I use the "alt" key (as in alt+A for an '!'), or a (.) key (the period key) or some others... the keyboard freezes and the browser or text messaging is put into a "Force Close" or "Wait" situation. Also, the battery gets really hot - to the touch - when this occurs.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought the HDMI dock (not HD station) and while I'm plugged in with it to my tv my phone keeps freezing. The screen turns black on the tv. I imagine it's because it loses the HDMI signal. I have to do a hard reset. This is not some random thing. It always does it while I'm on the internet. Or the facebook app. I can stream Netflix without a hitch but as soon as I jump on line the phone freezes. Could it be the phone? HDMI dock? Or the radio shack HDMI cable and mini HDMI to regular HDMI converter? Right now I'm connected to the HDMI dock but not on mirror mode. Just using my phone. I wonder if I connect the HDMI cable straight to my phone will the same thing happen? I'll try and report back. I just trued connecting te hdmi cord straight ti te phine and no freezes. Only problem is unlike when im connected to the dock the screen on to the tv is not full size and vĂdeo quality is not good. I used the web top app and it never froze. It only happens in mirror mode.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having a big problem recording video with the Motorola DROID RAZR.I can record about 1-2 minuts and then it freezes.I notice that is seems some audio is still being recorded (as I can hear it on the playback), but the video just locks up.Also, I notice that it boots me out of the camera and back to the home screen.I've tried recording when saving to the micro-card or internal. Both ways are still ineffective.Also, I've noticed that sometimes, when call are coming in, the screen is unresponsive and cannot pick-up the call. I'm not sure if this is related, but I thought I would mention here anyway.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got the DX2 and have had it freeze on me when I'm typing on the keyboard. Initially, with the default keyboard settings, it would freeze on me whenever I put a space in between words after like the 3rd word typed. THEN, after removing the auto-correct function from the keyboard settings I solved that problem. Now, whenever I type a string of "!!!" or "..." it freezes the keyboard on me. The only way to get the phone back up is a reboot.
Secondly, I have received numerous duplicate text messages (as many as 7) of incoming texts from multiple different users in different areas of the country. I was in 3G coverage areas with excellent bars at the time so I'm not sure why this would happen. I also checked on this with my verizon bill and I'm being billed for these duplicate messages! NOT COOL.
Assume my Droid is working, and it goes to sleep after a period of disuse, or a click on the power button to put it to sleep. Then, when I click the power to turn it back on, the screen appears but none of the controls work. When I swipe the unlock icons, nothing happens. Nothing happens when any button is pressed or any screen item is pressed.If I merely pull the battery nothing works.If I pull the battery and then do a hard reset, using the X plus power kay, then a reset, the phone will work fine...until it goes to sleep, when it freezes again and the only way to revive it is to do another hard reset.I did a hard reset, and cleared all of my user data...but still the phone froze after it went to sleep.This happens whether or not the 16 GB data chip is pulled.It happens with a fully charged battery as well as using the power cord.Finally, I did a factory reset and wiped out everything, so that I was starting with a new default system and a new activation.The phone started up fine...and I could access the factory-installed apps...but when it went to sleep it froze again. When I tried to wake it I could not get by the home screen.I had this problem starting a few days ago. Then it seemed to go away. Then a day later it started again.Why does going to sleep kill a phone that otherwise works perfectly?It can't be any add on apps, because there are none.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter completing a phone call or when the phone times out, it freezes and nothing will unlock it other than pulling the battery out. If I hard press the power button, the Phone Options screen will pop-up but none of the selection will work thru the touch-screen. While the [Phone Options] screen is open I can open the slide keyboard and use the mice-like button to scroll down and take the [Power off] option. Phone will work again after pulling the battery or powering it off thru the keyboard (at least this will save me the time of removing the battery).It seems that both actions (call and time out) send some kind to signal to the screen to lock it. When pressing the power button I will see the slide bar to unlock it but the screen is frozen and nothing will make it work. Luckily for Motorola the phone's warranty just expired (7/28/11).I have done both, Factory data reset and Wipe data/factory reset (Power key + "x") but nothing helped. I have looked out there in we but nothing similar.Does anyone have experienced this? - As you can imagine this is extremely painful and annoying. I ended up increasing the timeout to the max (30 minutes), but obviously jeopardized the battery life. I have to charge the phone almost every 2 hours.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was having a issue with the Slacker app that came preinstalled on my Bionic. The app will freeze for about 5-10 seconds and then I have to force close it. I did try clearing the data and that did not work. I removed the updates for the app and that seems to have taken care of it. The app started acting funny after the .902 update and eventually became unusable until I did the above.

Once this 'feature' activates, the right half of the screen will be updated, but at a very choppy rate. Only resolution is to reboot the phone.
Doesn't appear to have any correlation to apps I'm running. Has happened running Waze, gmail, and simply flipping through home screens.
This happens at least 2 to 3 times a day, and started happening after receiving the OTA on Saturday. Have had the 64GB version since mid-November. Has been rock solid until this past weekend.
Tried wiping the cache partition, but issue still occurs.
My droid 2 has decided to start acting quite funky.it will freeze, the keyboard stops working mid-text/email then goes back to the home screen like that text/email draft never existed. I also am having trouble answering calls. When a call comes in, i touch answer but there is no response.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust FYI...I have Hp pavillion g7 notebook PC running windows 8.1 64 bit. I have an interesting case. When I plug my phone into my computer it quickly and automatically pulls up the Photos app that came with the computer. It NEVER did this before, until one day when I transfered some pics from my phone to the computer. Ever since that day this has been happening.Â
In addition, my computer and phone wont sync up so I cant tranfer any music. The computer recognizes the cable (It makes the sound and charges the phone as well as pulling up the photos app) and the phone knows it's plugged in because under settings->iTunes Wifi sync, it says "Sync will resume when 'Computer'sName' is available" However, in iTunes, the sync button is greyed out.

Today I left my D4 unplugged at work to see how long it would last. After about 7.5 hours, the battery had dropped to 30% with minimal use and next to nothing running in the background. When it hit 30%, the temp spiiked to 107F, and the battery decay accelerated (despite a battery extender Smart Action engaged). The battery was at <5% by 8:30hrs and still just as hot. This is very unusual behavior in my brief 3 week experience with this phone, although I have seen it a couple of times. I usually charge at 50%, and only see the overheating at the lower %. The heat continues when the charger is eventually plugged in. It got so hot today that I decided to reboot the phone, and it seemed to run cool after that.

Anyone else with this issue Perhaps my battery is failing and in need of replacement, but quite coincidental that same day as the update.

I expected this when the phone was on, but it also is when powered off (I mean POWERED OFF by holding the power key and selecting Power Off, not just put in Standby or Airplane Mode). I turned it off with a fully charged battery and put it away for the night. Eight hours later, I turned it on and the battery was at 60%. The only way I can prevent this from happening is by removing the battery. The battery use indicator doesn't help much.
I was wondering whether this is a known Droid problem. I got the phone used from Verizon Wireless after I lost my other phone, which was an HTC Eris. The Eris ate battery when on but not when shut down. If this problem is specific to my phone I need to talk to Verizon about it.
and if so...is there a way to turn off 4G for most of the time and turn it back on if I am doing something that requires a lot of download time etc.

How to determine which apps if any are the cause..
I dont believe its a faulty battery as I have a second battery and will have the same problem with that one.Yesterday I hardly used my phone. I was at home ( which is in a weak signal area) and when I checked the phone at around 8pm it was dead. Off with no charge left. Started the day with an overnight charge.
If the problem is an overactive app how can I find it and remove?
Ok, so just checking if there is any explanation other than a hardware problem here. I received my second refurb today after my first one arrived with obvious hardware problems and I had to send it back. Twice so far, while plugged in to the AC wall charger, my battery has started discharging. This is with the Motorola wall charger and Motorola extended battery. One time I was using the phone when this happened and the other I was not - it was just sitting there with nothing happening on it but with the screen on and plugged in.
This has never happened before, so if it is a hardware problem, it would be much more likely the "new" phone rather than the battery. I don't want to go through the replacement process a third time and lose even more time without a functioning phone if this could potentially be caused by something else. They said they will not send me a new (non-refurb) phone, no matter how many problems I have and no matter how many broken "certified like new" phones they send me. Doing a search on this, all I found were posts about car chargers not providing enough power with Navigator in use, which does not apply to my case. I really want this not to be a hardware problem with the phone since they will just send me yet another untested, broken refurb, so I'm just grasping for straws I guess despite the obvious.
I recently upgraded to GB and ever since my battery has been getting completely drained very quickly. When I look at the Battery Usage stats, I have the following:
Android OS: 85%
Display: 10%
Launcher Pro: 3%
Phone Idle: 2%
Cell Standby: 2%
Besides the fact that the percentages don't add up to 100%, I have never seen the Android OS be so high in battery usage. When I click on Android OS for further detail, it says CPU Total = 1h 15m 35s. My phone was fully charged and I have only been on battery 1h 42m 0s. If these stats are correct, that means the Android system has been using my CPU for almost the whole time my phone has been on. What would cause this? Its very frustrating that I am down to 50% battery after only having my phone on for less than 2 hours. In the time my phone has been on, I haven't done any processor intensive task like web browsing and have not run any apps at all other than Gmail.
