I read that Google has changed their politics about to be able to use a SD card. But I then also happily read that Sony have made it possible to move apps to the SD card. So I bought a high speed 128 GB Sd card.
Now to the problem: My Z2 runs 4.4.2, version 17.1.2.A.0.314, but I can not move any app to the card from within Settings -> Apps.
Yesterday I made a light mistake. Because I bought a bigger sd card for my D6603. During the copy and installation of the new SD card in my phone, I used the "move to SD card" function. Several apps were transferred which was fine. Without thinking I reinstalled the SD card a second time. After this I realized my mistake. 14 apps were missing in my launcher. Most apps I could reinstall on the phone and then move to SD card to recover them. But only on app is missing. I dont know yet if it is a default app from 5.1.1. installation or a downloaded one. Â 1.) Do you have a picture of side 1 to 3 of an fresh installed D6603 with 5.1.1? So I can compare the installed apps. 2.) How can I found out the name of the missing app in a not rooted 5.1.1.?
Other than freeing up device memory are there any advantages to moving apps to the SD card? Like in a rebuild situation after an OS upgrade? If I move the card to another phone will the apps show up on the screen?
I Have a new Galaxy S5 (with lollipop 5.0), coming from a S3 (with 4.3).
The "problem" I have is that in the Galaxy S5, in lots of Apps that are selected to be moved to SD Card, only a very small amount of the App really goes to the SD Card, while on the Glaxy S3 it moved the whole App (most of it anyway).
I post an example (language is Portuguese) with the game Shadowrun in both the S3 and S5. It happens with several other games.
Is the problem related to the lollipop (apps not updated yet)? Is it Sd card related (I just moved it from my S3 without reformatting the card)?
does anyone know how to specify an app be downloaded, stored, or moved to the SD card, without using a 3rd party app? I just started using the droidx2, I bought a nice class 10 micro sd card, and all I can store on it are photos/videos/notes. im waiting for the tech manual from Motorola to arrive.
I want to add more music to my 1520, so I was thinking about getting a bigger microSD card. It's definitely outgrowing my 32GB one, so I have my sights on a 64GB (or maybe even a 128GB). I don't mind having to re-add my music to the new microSD. The major question here is: Can I move my apps (and data) from one microSD to another microSD smoothly and successfully?
I'd really don't want to have to re-download ALL of my apps onto the new microSD card. Downloading my apps to my phone's memory is not an option; the phone doesn't have enough free memory to accommodate my app catalog. I already know how I will do it...it's only a matter of if it can be done.
Why is the option to move some apps grayed out? I had a launcher installed that would ask me if I wanted to move apps, but I deleted it. Now I can't move anything because the option just isn't there. Galaxy S5, lollipop ....
I have a Galaxy S5 from Cricket/AIO wireless. It just recently updated to Lolly from KK. I want to move larger apps and such to the SD card as I have a 128GB in there. But whenever I try to move a file/app, it becomes unstable or doesn't work. In its place on the menu, is a blank/ghost space and says "app is not installed". In the app manager it is usually listed as "xyz app.samsung.com" or such. I am still making payments to it so I cant fully root it or jailbreak it but I cant load the apps I want/need. Or is there a way to load larger apps directly to the SD?
Also as a secondary problem, moving pctures from internal to SD, I get a ghost image in Gallery and cant access the picture. Did it delete? Can I get it back somehow? Do I need a forensics kit on my computer?
I have a Sprint S5 running stock Lollipop. I have moved any apps that can be to the SD card. Anytime those apps are updated, they move back to the device storage. I got this phone shortly before Sprint pushed the Lollipop update so I cannot say for sure if I was having this issue prior to Lollipop.
I'm having issues when I move apps to the sd card using the installed software. The app icons disappear from the app menu and if I have a widget on my homescreen I get a message saying the app isn't installed. When I go into the manage app setting, I can see the apps but their icons don't show. I've had to uninstall them and then reinstall them to get them to work. I guess for now, I won't be moving apps to the sd card, but I'm trying to keep my internal memory free.
When I bought my Xperia Neo, I received a free 8gb micro SD-card from class 2. I wanted a faster one and a bigger one to fullfill my new preferences. I bought a Transcend 16gb micro SD-card class 6.
1) Is this compatible with my Sony Ericsson smartphone?
2) How do I transfer all my data from my current SD-card to the new one without losing my installed apps, pictures and other stuff that's installed on.
OK we can't as yet (Hope Lollipop will be different - Motorola and other dont have thois problem) move apps to SD card - but can I move Movies got from Google? Taking up about 5gb, I'd like to clear space - but I can't even FIND the things, but the space IS taken up. Where are they stored ? How can I get to them ? Not showing up in "Movie"Â ....
Yesterday I shot several photos... The mobile asked me if I wanted to move them to the sd card since the mobile memory storage was reaching the 75% of its capacity. I said yes and then the photos were moved to the sd card but now they are all black. I was wondering if a original copy was left inside the mobile storage memory. I've seen several apps to recover pictures but the mobile has to be rooted...
I have a Sony Xperia Z3 16GB version and Recently I had been to a hiking trip and had used my Xperia Z3 on the trip extensively for photos and vidoes. I have taken as much as 600 photos and few videos of size 2.9 GB. Since the phone memory was getting full, i moved the images, videos using the "Move Files to SD Card" option found under "Settings --> Storage".  The Transfer finished successfully and the phone memory was relieved. Now after this transfer, i can't open any images moved to SD card. They all were moved to "DCIM --> 100ANDRO" folder.  The photos seem to be corrupted. ALL OF THEM   This is such a mess and I tried a few tools for recovering the images. They didn't woork for me. How to recover these photos? These are memories from a Trip which I can do only once in life time.  The jpeg image properties show up the File Size clearly which means that the content is still there but somehow corrupted.
I downloaded a few of the 'free apps' from Blackberry World that were offered following the service outage about year ago.
Between now and then, the IT department needed to wipe my phone and when they did it required me to establish a new BB ID (The old one was a personal address -- the new one had to be the company address). The phone itself has not changed.
Is there anyway to get the apps associated with my old BB ID over to the new ID?
My phone (a nokia e52) is getting quite low on memory so I want to move my messages to the microSD card. I had, however played with this setting when I first got the phone. Because of this, when I now select the microSD card as the location for messages, the SMS/mms messages received since I first changed that setting are not transferred to the memory card. Does anyone know how to transfer these newer messages? I have tried creating a new folder, moving messages there and then changing the location setting but the new folder and its contacts did not transfer to the memory card.
I have a Blackberry 9300 3g curve. Whenever I download any application it ets stored in the phone memory, I have all my media files and the photos stored in the Media card. How can I move the applications such as games, themes etc. to the media card storage.
i have just been given a 8120 and after a lot of hard work just about figured it out. The bloke who gave it to me cant remeber much about it so couldn't help me with much. The problem is that i downloaded a few things from blackberry world and a box came up saying i didn't have enough space to continue yet the memory card says it's just about empty. I tried going through the manual but couldn't find the answer there and i even took it to the phone shop. He couldn't help but he did tell me something i didn't know. He said i have to pay £5 a month for the blackberry service!
I took a new sd card (strontium class 10 32gb nitro) I'm not able to tranfer files from internal storage to mcard through file manager (es file explorer)..it shows error moving files..
I had a HTC Rezound and with it came a 16gb sd card. So I moved it to my new HTC One but since then I've been having issues. All photos, videos, music and others are read correctly.
The problem is moving files to the sd card or within it. Happened when using a file explorer app, backing up sms/calls to sd card and all had some kind of error.
i have a Samsung Exhibit II that is rooted. If I move the SIM cars to a Galaxy S II will it be rooted? Or is the rooting in a different part of the hardware?
I have a Lumia 950XL. When I got the phone, I did not have a SD card. Once I got the SD card, I moved all the apps from the phone to the card. Everything moved except one app, Candy Crush Saga. Now in my app list it displays as "Pending". It's available in the Xbox app, but I cannot play it. I cannot uninstall/install this, since it is not providing me with any options even on a long-press.
So I got a new Samsung Galaxy s5, and transfered an SD card to the phone. I decided to move all photos from the SD card to the phone, and some seem to have dissapeared during the process. Have checked all the folders in the phone, but still cannot find them.
When I drag a video from explorer to the external memory video folder on the phone, it is copied to the internal memory! Is there a way to move items from explorer directly to external memory (SD card)?
