Dec 5, 2015I have not yet gotten ahold of a Lumia 950 but plan to do so in the fairly near future. I've been reading this forum and find various comments about whether or not to restore from a WM 8.1 backup. My current phone is a Lumia 1020 running Denim.
My question is for those who have recommended a fresh install rather than a restore from backup. Are you referring only to the "Apps and Settings" backup and not the "text messages" backup?

Feb 7, 2011I was recently on a trip and went swimming with my phone. The covers were all closed and about 2 minutes in to my swim the the camera stopped working. The battery (which was fully charged) died within a couple hours after the camera stopped functioning. I tried plugging it into the charger and the charging screen came on for a minute and then dissapeared. It did not charge and since then the phone is dead. I currently have my phone in rice hoping that out any moisture that got in.

Apr 24, 2015So I just been upgrading my Xperia Z2. The phone was on Android 4.4.2 when I used the Backup & Restore application to backup my System apps data, and some of my Downloaded apps with data. I had to upgrade to 4.4.4. I think it was a mistake that I didn't make a backup on 4.4.4 as well. Now I've upgraded to 5.0, and all of my apps & settings were kept, but I wanted to start clean, so I did a factory reset.
Now when I'm trying to use the Backup & Restore app again to Restore the backup file I made on 4.4.2, a window pops up saying "Cannot restore, Selected backup records cannot be used due to incompatible software versions. Please select a more recent backup file."

Feb 24, 2011I have recently had a replacement handset of a Xperia X10 which replaces my Vivaz. Before the handset was given back, I backed up my phone with all contact, calendar entries etc via the sony ericsson PC suite, now I want to restore this backup to the X10, the PC Suite doesn't recognise the phone. I have to now use the PC companion which doesn't help me much in restoring this backup.

Oct 11, 2014My 3 day old Z3 rebooted to factory settings while having it in my pocket. I was out for a five hours walk and have used it serveral times during the walk to take photos. They were stored on the SD card. Battery was on 73%. At the end of my trip I noticed it asked for my pin code to unlock the sim card. I used my newly set pincode for simcard and it worked fine. The telephone was set up with screenlock as well, but that has disapeared together with all my installed programs and my photos and videos on the SD card.

Jul 3, 2010My old Xperia TX is encrypted. So "Xperia Transfer Mobile" app and "PC Companion" are not working here.
Internal "Backup & restore" app exist on both phones - my new Z5 and TX and serves the same way - it can back up all text messages (and other data which I don't need to transfer) and it does work with encrypted phone! First it asks for password for decrypting and then works fine. I'm saving my backup to SD card. I'm inserting SD card to Z5 and trying to restore with same data but... BnR app can't see saved data on SD card!
I made some researches on content of backups and I see they using different formats for backups. Different files structure, different files contents and different metadata format.

Apr 18, 20151) For some reason this time the phone insists for me to update using PC. I connect it using PC Companion, it says my phone has 0 bytes memory left, I deleted some stuff and same. No matter what I do I have 0 bytes free left in my phone, so I can't update my phone, and so I can't get rid of the stupid notification in the phone as well.
2) I tried to backup my photos from the phone, opened "File Manager" via PC Companion, looked into the "Pictures" folder but it's only showing 2% of all my photos in the phone. Clicked on literally every single folders and still can't find the first of the pictures.

Feb 20, 2010Hey can anyone help me with setting proxy settings on applications? At university we have a wlan using a proxy server, i set up my access point with proxy settings and port number. Web browsing works fine: when i start web browsing, i am asked to enter my user name and password. But the problem starts when i want to use applications like Vyke Mobile, Chat, E-mail. Somehow there is no connection. I searched the settings of these applications in order to see if there is some place i could enter a proxy/port number, but nothing worked. Any suggestions please, it's driving me crazy !!!!
