After the update, the shutter sound is not silent when in silent/vibrate mode.Also, I am not sure if this is bug, but to activate camera with camera button, now you need to long press the button, whereas before you just had to tap. [Is it a bug or a fix?]But, the previous mentioned is a bug. Shutter should not make a sound when the phone is on silent mode or vibrate mode.
View 9 RepliesI usually use smart connect and NFC tag to fully silent my phone at night time (no vibrate or sound), yet the only option in smart connect is sound, vibrate and priority, and priority mode vibrates. I realise I can now change to full silent mode from the lock screen with the volume button, but i thought it would be an option to put into smart connect as a selection.

That is unfair that the phones selled in telecom company can turn off the shutter sound but others can't. At least the volume can be down. It is too annoying and emberssing. I am pretty sure that iPhone can turn it off! Hence, I believe there are no policies to force the shutter sound to be so loud!
I have an Xperia Active ST17i, android versions 4.0.4, and ever since I bought it I'm trying to find a way to turn off the sound but now luck. I have no option in my camera application. I read on different forums that I need to modify my build.prop file. Can't do that since I can't root my phone. I found the file, I found the line that I need to modify, but can't touch it ofc. I tried factory reset, in the hopes that it would put the camera sound from 1 to 0, but still no luck. I tried to put the phone on silet. Every application is silent, expet for the freakin` camera!!
So how the heck do I turn off that freakin` sound?
the fone does not vibrate when the sound is off and even if i press the soft keys and on certain ui interaction . when there is an incoming call it also does not vibrate . the vibrate option is on.

This is problematic when I am far enough away from my phone that I don't hear the vibration or I'm in a loud place. I would really like it if I was alerted via a notification tone, but I can't seem to find the setting necessary to change that. I went into my provider with my problem, and they're trying to tell me that its not possible for me to have custom ringtones set up and have the vibrate/silent work at the same time. According to them I either have to have my phone on vibrate all the time, remove all my custom tones, or just turn my phone off when I want it to be silent! My friend has the same phone and is on my family plan, and he has custom tones and his vibrate/silent still works as it should, so I know that its possible. All I want is to be able to have my phone not ring while in class or at the movies.

Is there a way to set the phone to a "bedtime" or "in meeting" or "silent" mode for this situation? I don't see a "profiles" option in my bberry.
