After upgrading to 2.1 I am unable to access the number and special character keyboards. This is very anoying as I can't restore my phone (contacts & software) without loging onto my Google account and I can't log because I can't type in my password which has numbers in it!How can I re-install the OS?

Bizarrely, when I go into Settings/About Phone/Status it continues to show the phone number of the original SIM. Why does it not simply read the number from the current SIM?
