Nokia :: N900 / Unable To Browse The Contect Of Inbox
Feb 22, 2010I use a Nokia N900. I have successfully connected the phone to my email provider using IMAP4/SSL. I can view incoming email notifications, and send new messages. I can also browse the content of all folders, except for the "inbox" folder.The way my provider (Rackspace.com) sets up the email account, all folders reside under the "inbox" folder. It appears that the N900's email application does not recognize the "inbox" folder as location which contains both sub folders and messages; when I try to open the "inbox" and list messages, the application briefly shows the busy indicator, but then nothing happens (it does not show the folder content). I can successfully view the content of any other folder (which does not have sub folders), it's just the "inbox" which is giving me problems.Is there a solution to this problem?

Mar 29, 2010Using the latest Ovi suite (updated through updates, not sure v number though). I received an X6 today. Seems pretty nice so far. However, had some issues transferring text messages between phones - it broke the dates on the MMS and left me with a bit of a messy inbox on my X6. So, I synced messages using Ovi suite from my old N82, and they all copied onto my PC fine. However, if I now connect my X6 to my PC and hit sync messages, it just says 'done', and doesn't copy my messages from my PC to my X6. Is there any way to do this? I'd like to keep all my old texts from my N82 and transfer them to my X6.

Mar 20, 2010I've just installed Nokia Ovi Suite, and to say i'm a little disappointed is an understatement, the program slows my whole computer down. I have a 5800 Xpressmusic FW31.0.10. I've been trying to copy music from my PC to my 5800, and yesterday when I launched Ovi Music Player, it didn't recognise the phone as being connected. It also started popping up with "Found New Hardware - MTP Device" EVERY 5 SECONDS!
I installed Ovi Suite and that just slowed my whole machine down. After waiting all morning for Ovi Suite to speed up a bit i've tried syncing my music, but it returns Operation Failed, Unable to copy the tracks. Attempting to copy them from my PC to my phone returns the same error. I also have a video decoder displaying in my sys tray, not just 1 icon, 22 of the same icon displaying in my sys tray. I've attached a screenshot to show what i mean.

Mar 9, 2012I have a small AVI video file (3.5MB) converted to mobile format (output profile reading "Mobile Phone MPEG-4 Movie..mp4") using Any Video Converter. With a view to copying the file to my E71 phone, I connected the phone to PC (Dell Studio 1558 system running W7 HP) via the USB (using the PC Siute mode in the first attempt and then the Mass Storage mode in my next attempt). I then proceeded to open the video file's shortcut menu and, in the Send To destinations, hit my phone's link that was being displayed as the E71 icon. But PC Suite reported inability to "copy the file". In the case of Mass Storage option too, the result was similar. Strangely, in several instances of my effort PC Suite was even found reporting that the "device has stopped responding or disconnected from PC" even though Suite's Home Page was showing my phone's icon as being in sync. s shortcut menu and, in the Send To destinations, hit my phone

Jan 6, 2010I've just transfered to the o2 simplicity contract where I supply my own phone.The phone is an ex Orange 6500 slider (my ex works phone) which was unlocked in the local shopping centre and is approx 2 years old.I can send mms's ok but if someone sends them to me I get t text saying i have to view them on-line.I've tried to send myself the mms / wap settings several times via the o2 website / via texting the 2020 number but each time they come through the text calls them Orange World.I've emailed o2 & they say i'm all set to accept them but there's obviously a issue my end with the phone. I'm trying to get into town to speak to o2 & Nokia shops personally but won't be able to for a couple of weekends!Any thoughts please people?

Jun 21, 2010I bought a "new" nokia 6500 from ebay and when I received it I realized that there was a space from the keypad to the housing itself. when the keypad light is on you can see light from behind the keypad, I don't think this is an authentic nokia housing. I think the ebay shop switched the housing to a fake ebay housing. Is there any other way to tell if its a fake housing?

Apr 17, 2010I was about to play a song on my fone but then when i clicked play, the phone switched off. I then switched the one back on and the start up screen worked fine but then after that it the screen goes white then it fades to black and switches of (kinda pixel like switch off). Sep 21, 2010I have had the 'Nokia 6500 slide' a year and a half, and have never managed to use my dictionary. Every time I try to open it it says.
'Vocabulary files not found or unavailable' - Vocabulary memory card not found or not functioning. Two ways to fix it:
1. download files to local PC from www.nokia-asia.com/vocabulary and then copy them to "Dictionary" folder of memory card.
2 Copy preinstalled files from CD rom into Dictionary folder in memory
I've already tried download the files, putting the extracted 2 files in the dictionary file in PC Suite and still the dictionary doesn't work, and that annoying message comes on. I haven't read the CD rom because I don't know where I put it. How to install my dictionary?

Jun 18, 2010I used the Ovi suite to install the free maps on my E72 which work great but the software itself is very poorly written, too many bugs and problems so i would like to uninstall it and use the PC suite instead. can I now update my phone using the PC suite with it's updater software or do I have to now rely on the Ovi suite.
The reason I ask instead of having two pieces of software is i want to a Vista/XP (two machines) clean install followed by a Ghost DVD so the smaller image the better (plus i dont like to have **bleep** installed on my machine:-)

I have a Nokia E71, and i was using Nokia PC Suite to sync it with my outlook 2007 it all worked fine, contacts, to do notes and calendar (i wasn't syncing mail cuase i use gmail), untill the new ovi suite came out and i decided to try it since It sounded better.turns out It really sucked this ovi suite!! one of the worst softwares I've ever used, it duplicated all of the appointments that had color categories in outlook 2007, it is dead slow to sync!!!(i mean reeeaaly slow), even tough the Suite integrates more stuff in to one place it has reduced funcionality to sync stuff with my phone, it offers less funtions, not to mention that the user interface sukcs (its poorly desingned, it takes long to accses stuff, it shows me stuff as if it was advertisement).PC suite was very simple but funcional, oviously i went back to pc suite, to my surprise i couldn't sync, pc suite & the phone would do as if they were syncing, but when i checked at the end it wouldn't sync stuff.

Apr 15, 2010Have a N900. Got the phone to work against Smart Suite and later Ovis Suite very well for the first 3 weeks. Then the trouble started. I used it both with USB cable and BTooth. First my synchronization with Lotus Notes calendar stopped (have to go by the PC), then contacts and messages. And today it does not even recognize the phone as a compatible phone. In the whole period I have been installing all kind of applications. My suspicion is that the trouble is due to an installation of a particular application - my question is:Anyone that got an idea what might have caused this?? Hope for help without re-intsalling the machine.
